Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss
Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss — Big Bang, Vice, Bittersweet, Liar, Failbait

Urban Decay Apocalypse Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep purple-wine.” It’s a lightly muted, dark plummy burgundy with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that felt smooth going on, but it looked somewhat uneven. The gloss lasted for six hours and was hydrating while worn. It feels non-sticky initially but gradually develops tackiness as the gloss wears down and has no discernible taste and very subtle sweet vanilla scent. MAC Sin (LE, $15.00) is warmer. MAC Talk Sexy (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Dior Intrigue (995) (P, $35.00) is lighter, brighter. MAC Modern Lure (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Sultana (LE, $20.00) is less glossy, lighter. Chanel Controversy (72) (P, $32.00) is warmer. MAC Lasting Achievement (P, $19.50) is darker. MAC Flight of Fancy (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. Bobbi Brown Midnight Violet (P, $24.00) is warmer, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Urban Decay Bittersweet Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright purple.” It’s a medium-dark pink-based purple with a creamy, glossy finish. This was one of the worst performers–and one I so badly wanted to be true!purple!–with a very streaky application and semi-sheer color payoff. It lasted for five hours and was hydrating, but it looked so splotchy that I think the only way to wear it is to apply it over a lip liner or lipstick. NYX Berry Strudel (P, $6.00) is cooler-toned, lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Truth or Dare (208) (P, $28.00) is warmer. MAC Heroine (LE, $15.00) is pinker. MAC Narcissus (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Illamasqua Fierce (P, $22.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Urban Decay Vice Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark purple with glitter.” It’s a reddish-berry with cool undertones and subtle violet shimmer. The shimmer is fairly subtle, and it just has a very light dusting of sparkle that is fine enough that I never felt it while wearing the gloss. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, but there’s noticeable translucency so the natural lip color will come through. On me, the gloss wore well for almost six hours and was nicely moisturizing while worn. Urban Decay Big Bang (P, $22.00) is lighter, brighter. Maybelline Radiant Ruby (530) (P, $8.99) is sheerer. Chanel Crazy Fuchsia (194) (LE, $29.50) is brighter. Revlon HD Pink Ruby (515) (P, $8.99) is brighter. Sisley Paris Berry (5) (P, $50.00) is less glossy, lighter. NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is sheerer. NARS Quito (P, $26.00) is sheerer, less shimmery. Chanel Tocade (182) (P, $29.50) is less shimmery, sheerer. Revlon Adorned (P, $7.49) is brighter. Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is darker, less shimmery. MAC Lust for Life (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery, darker. NARS Mexican Rose (P, $24.00) is more muted. NARS Outer Limits Eyeshadow
NARS Outer Limits Eyeshadow

NARS Outer Limits Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as an “iridescent rose gold.” It’s a softened, medium orange with pink and gold flecks of sparkle and shimmer over a metallic sheen. Burberry Shell (003) (P, $29.00) is lighter. NARS St-Paul-de-Vence (Left) (LE, $24.00) is less sparkly, darker. Colour Pop Tea Party (P, $5.00) is less yellow-based. MAC Mortal #2 (LE) is less sparkly. MAC Sun Tweaked (P, $16.00) is less sparkly, less orange. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The texture of the eyeshadow is very soft and prone to almost crumbling to the touch, so when it is used dry, the product doesn’t bind together as well unless really pressed and patted onto the skin with a fingertip, sponge-tipped applicator, or silicone applicator, but with a brush, it has a tendency to sheer out and cause sparkle to get everywhere. I had more success using it with a dampened brush, as this helped bind the powder and help it apply more smoothly and evenly on the skin without losing all the color and sparkle. With this shade, the pigmentation was similar both wet and dry, but the damp application made it easier to maintain that level of coverage even when blending on the lid. It only lasted for seven hours before creasing, and it did have a noticeable amount of fall out. I would highly recommend using a tacky eyeshadow base or glitter adhesive when using this to minimize fall out and to maximize color payoff.

MAC Bouffant Eyeshadow
MAC Bouffant Eyeshadow

MAC Bouffant Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “pale peach shimmer [with a Veluxe Pearl finish].” It’s a light, pinky-peach with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a fairly soft, smooth consistency that was blendable and buildable in color. It wore well for eight hours before creasing on me. I expected this to have some dupes, but it was surprisingly dupable. Guerlain Les Precieux #2 (LE) is lighter. Tarte Champagne Bubble Bath (LE) is similar. Hello Kitty Apple Pie (LE) is darker. Stila Rose Quartz (P) is similar. Make Up For Ever I524 Pinky Beige (P, $21.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Tisse Venitien #2 (P) is similar. Chanel Tisse Camelia #3 (P) is similar. theBalm #14 (P, $6.50) is similar. theBalm #4 (P, $6.50) is similar. theBalm D2 (LE, $16.00) MAC Summer Honey (LE, $21.00) is more glittery. MAC Jest (P, $15.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Sin (P, $18.00) is similar. MAC Naked Lunch (P, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC A Natural Flirt (LE, $19.50) is lighter. Le Metier de Beaute Nouvelle (LE, $30.00) is similar. bareMinerals Custom Made (LE) is more shimmery. Inglot #397 (P, $6.00) is more shimmery. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

MAC Yogurt Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “chalky pale pink [with a Matte finish].” It’s a light, neutral-to-cool-toned pink with a matte finish. The texture was firm and thin, which made it harder to get color off of the surface. It lasted for seven hours before fading. This shade is part of the permanent range. Lancome My French #2 (LE) is much darker. Make Up For Ever M870 Yogurt (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned. MAC The Wrong Man (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Elementary Pink (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Too Faced Powdered Sugar (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Fray (LE, $18.00) is darker. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

There are two other new, limited edition shades in this collection, which I don’t have, but I’ll certainly try to snag them when the collection launches online on March 26th!

Estee Lauder Ultra Pink Lip & Cheek Ball
Estee Lauder Ultra Pink Lip & Cheek Ball

Estee Lauder Ultra Pink Lip & Cheek Ball ($26.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “translucent berry hue.” It’s a muted, pinkish-red with cool undertones and a subtle shine. NARS Adoration (Right) (P) is a powder. MAC Red Obsessed (LE, $20.00) is warmer. MAC Bred for Beauty (LE) is a powder. YSL Rose Frivole (02) (P, $40.00) is similar. YSL Fuchsia Desinvolte (01) (P, $40.00) is brighter. Illamasqua Peaked (P, $26.00) is more muted. Illamasqua Seduce (P, $26.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The formula is supposed to be a “jelly-like gloss” with a “full-throttle shine” that gives a “slight tint to lips while imparting a rosy glow to cheeks.” It’s not at all glossy or jelly-like; it’s more like a very thin, firm balm that offers a satin shine with sheer color. The coverage is as described–translucent–and tints the lips and cheeks with a barely-there hue. It’s extremely uncomfortable to wear on the lips, as it feels dry and is drying over time, while the color lasts about an hour before sliding off. As a blush, it wore for six and a half hours before breaking down, but it imparted no real shine, just a smidgen of color (would be better suited for a fairer complexion than mine).

NARS Guyane Lipgloss
NARS Guyane Lipgloss

NARS Guyane Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “seashell pink.” It’s a very light beige with a hint of pink and subtle shimmer. It had semi-opaque color payoff but settled into lip lines noticeably, and it wasn’t completely even. The texture was lightweight, lightly tacky, and lasted three hours but the color settled more and more into lip lines as it wore on. The formula was hydrating while worn. Maybelline Sandy Sensation (115) (LE) is sheerer, warmer. NARS Spring Break (P, $26.00) is similar. MAC Orange Tempera (LE, $15.00) is pinker. MAC Emancipation (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Cut Loose (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC C-Thru (P, $15.00) is warmer. MAC A Quiet Roar (LE, $15.00) is warmer, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NARS Vent Sale Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “silver highlight.” It’s a brightened shimmering white gold with very fine multi-colored pearl and white shimmer. The base color settled somewhat into lip lines, but the shimmer seemed to reflect back and distract from it to some degree. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage, primarily through the shimmer. It lasted for three hours on me and was hydrating. MAC Clear Water (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC Softly Lit (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. MAC Boundless Beige (P, $19.50) is sheerer. MAC Girl on Board (LE, $15.00) is more opaque. MAC A Quiet Roar (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC Little Rock (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Guerlain Sable Show (LE, $32.00) is sheerer. Anastasia Pure Hollywood Liquid Lipstick
Anastasia Pure Hollywood Liquid Lipstick

Anastasia Pure Hollywood Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a light-medium peach with a hint of pink and an ultra matte finish. Colour Pop Button (P, $5.00) is darker, pinker. Bite Beauty Leche (P, $24.00) is less matte, pinker. Bite Beauty Amaretto (P, $24.00) is darker, less matte. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lament (P, $18.00) is lighter, less matte. MAC Riot House (LE, $16.00) is much lighter. Too Faced Melted Nude (P, $21.00) is slightly darker, less pink. Givenchy Beige Mousseline (101) (P, $36.00) is darker, less matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The Liquid Lipstick formula is supposed to have “full coverage” with a “matte finish” that will last “all day.” It’s very pigmented, yet it’s a shade that goes on unevenly with visible streaks initially and seems almost watery when applied. Luckily, it seems to self-level so that as it dries down, the unevenness disappears (so I would recommend not fussing with making it appears perfectly even while it is wet). As it is drying down, it gets very tacky, and you’ll want to ensure you don’t press your lips together while it is drying down, or else color will lift. The consistency is more unforgiving in this lighter shade than American Doll, and it immediately started to pull into lip lines. This only worsened as the color wore on, even though it had minimal transfer on my coffee cup, but it looked settled and made my lips look cracked after a mere two hours. It was very drying, and it was extremely difficult to wear it past five hours–my lips felt so parched that they hurt.
