Both of these looked better in the pot than applied, because both were sheerer, a little streaky, and were difficult to apply evenly. Precious Pearl was easier, and the color itself is far more forgiving with a sheer, slightly uneven application. Icy Mint, because it does have a tint of bluish-aqua to it, does look odd with as much streakiness as there is. The texture of both shades was slick and creamy, so they glided on well but didn’t seem to smooth out quite as nicely. They are very blendable, though, and they took a bit longer to set than other Color Tattoos I’ve worked with.
As an eyeshadow base, they worked better than they did alone, as the unevenness gets covered by other eyeshadows. I tried applying sheer, thin layers and allowing them to dry before applying another layer, but it didn’t help (just slid the product around or caused it to look clumpy). Icy Mint creased noticeably after six hours of wear, and Precious Pearl had light creasing after eight hours of wear.
Precious Pearl was easier to work with, and the color itself is far more forgiving with a sheer, slightly uneven application. Though I wasn't very impressed by it, if you're only looking for a sheer wash of color, it would be worth considering.

Icy Mint had a sheer, uneven application that made it look unflattering when worn, as you could see streaks and unevenness even at a distance. It also creased much more quickly compared to other Color Tattoos I've worn.

It’s a very spring-themed color, and mint is certainly a trendy color at the moment, too, but MAC ruins the color with an awful, streaking formula. The consistency was slightly watery, and the formula applied streaky from the first coat, but even a second coat applied with visible streaking. I even tried applying a few different ways and times, even trying three coats, but nothing made it look better (the swatches show two coats, for reference). The color coverage seemed like it would be mostly opaque if not for the streaks and watery patches. This polish did want to pool along the edges, so you really have to make sure to keep your fingertips level.

MAC’s Paint Pot formula is supposed to be “long-wearing,” “highly-pigmented,” and have “seamless coverage without weight or caking.” Fancy Frosting is more like the glittery Paint Pots that MAC has released more frequently in the past couple of years, and so it is nowhere near as smooth, pigmented, or as long-wearing as the creamier (and typically, less shimmery) shades. This one builds to semi-sheer coverage, but you really have to build layer by layer and give each layer time to dry, or else it will turn caky and bunch up on itself. It’s best used as a sheer wash of sparkle. When I wore it, there was some fall out–a few stray sparkles had managed to get loose, though it wasn’t too noticeable. I didn’t see any creasing or fading over an eight hour period.

It was rather sheer when applied dry, and it was more pigmented when applied damp but only managed to get to semi-opaque color–it was amplified by a lot of sparkle and shimmer but the base color stayed rather subtle. Moonspoon wasn’t as smooth as the other shades; there was a touch of grittiness to the larger particles of sparkle. It did not apply as smoothly or as evenly, and it was harder to blend it out when I tried using it on the lid. It seemed to stick in places. This shade lasted for eight hours without creasing, but it did seem a bit patchy, and of course, there was fall out during application but continued fall out throughout the day. For a comparison to their Stardust eyeshadows, please read this review.
I wish this had a softer, smoother texture that applied better. It would be dreamy, too, if there was no fall out, but at least it could be more successful on the other points!

The texture is soft and finely-milled, but it is also on the powdery side. My larger issue with it was the weak color payoff–no matter whether it was used wet or dry, because it looked the same both ways–and that it was sheer at all stages. I tried to layer and build up the color to no avail. The formula can be used both dry as well as wet, but I really didn’t notice any difference in finish or intensity when I used it wet. When applied with a damp brush, what I did find was that it stayed on better; I was able to see eight hours without creasing or fading (though it was always sheer). When applied dry, it had disappeared by eight hours. At present, this shade is exclusive to Saks and Dior.com.

Benefit Poutrageous Ultra Plush Lipgloss ($16.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright pink coral.” It’s a brightened, orange coral with a very subtle shimmer. On lips, it adds warmth and shine, but it’s a sheerer gloss so there’s little visible color, even on my less pigmented lips. Le Metier de Beaute Orange Juiced is similar when worn, though it has more shimmer. Bobbi Brown Citrus is very similar as well. (Even with these two, both are sheer formulas, but you can see a greater difference in the actual color of my bare lips compared to my lips with the respective gloss on.)
Again, with a gloss this sheer, I think it’s important that it be clear that it is not the “bright pink coral” you see in the tube but a “sheer bright pink coral.” It’s definitely crossing the line between sheer and clear. Even as far as adding warmth goes, it’s rather subtle. Benefit should reconsider the way it describes the coverage of their new gloss range, because I can read it as a mix of sheer/less sheer, but they also make references to “drenching lips in luscious color … [f]rom crystal clear to hot pink.” To that end, I’m expecting sheer to semi-sheer coverage but not near clear with any of the shades except Icebreaker (which is clear). (The press release was actually more vague.)
The consistency is smooth, gel-like, and glides on easily. It has a fair amount of slip, and it’s a comfortable gloss to wear. The “color” of this goes on evenly and you can press your lips together and never worry about it creating lines. It also doesn’t settle into lip lines. The formula is lightly hydrating, but it wears away within an hour and a half.
The formula is decent in how it feels on, but it wears away quickly and the color is just too close to clear and very, very sheer--but there's nothing that prepares you for that level of sheerness.
