Chanel Cool Gold Stylo Eyeshadow ($34.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “luminous gold.” It’s a medium, yellow gold with a frosted, metallic finish and warm undertones. NARS Corcovado is brighter, yellower. Maybelline Gold Rush is darker, more molten. MAC Goldmine is less frosted and a powder. Chanel Pearl River #3 is similar but a powder. Chanel Blazing Gold is very similar but a powder. OCC Triptych is darker and also a powder. bareMinerals Remix is browner. Make Up For Ever #10 is yellower, less orange. Inglot #403 is yellower. This is a new formula for Chanel, and it’s described as lightweight, long-wearing, and designed to “[highlight] eyes with gleaming color” as well as “[create] a shimmering veil on lids.” I bought three when the collection initially launched, and Cool Gold was the first one I tried putting to the test. Swatched on skin, it had semi-opaque color when layered and semi-sheer when applied in a single pass, which seemed to align with the idea of a veil of shimmer on the lids. It’s a very soft, shimmery look. The consistency is soft and silky, and it feels water-like when applied; it even feels cool and has a lot of slip, but it doesn’t actually feel that movable on the lid. It blends well, but it doesn’t slide around–not even initially when creamier products can sometimes instantly settle into the creases. After eight hours of wear, it held up decently, but there was noticeable fall out (which was unexpected) and some light creasing on the inner lid (but not in the outer crease).

	There were a lot of things to like about it: a blendable, creamy consistency that didn't settle into the creases from the get-go, so it was easy to apply and get even coverage. I didn't have great luck with wear; while creasing wasn't too bad (but still noticeable), the fall out was more significant and noticeable.

Aveda Lemongrass Petal Essence Single Eye Color ($14.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “satiny, light, iridescent green.” It’s a lightened, pastel green with warm, yellow undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff, and it applied well. When I tested it, the shade lasted eight hours with some minimal fading. bareMinerals Wicked ius lighter, not as warm-toned. MAC Juxt is slightly warmer. Dior Peacock #1 is slightly darker. Dior Peacock #5 is lighter. Urban Decay Jealous #2 is darker. Aveda Papyrus is darker, less frosted. See comparisons here.

Aveda Oceanica Petal Essence Single Eye Color ($14.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “satiny, bright, island blue.” It’s a medium, muted blue with a frosted sheen. It had good pigmentation and applied smoothly, but it did look noticeably faded after I wore it for eight hours. Dior Swimming Pool Turquoise is lighter. MAC Cool Heat is much darker. Guerlain Les Aquas #2 is slightly less blue. L’Oreal Endless Sea is a touch darker. MAC Parrot is bolder, slightly darker. Make Up For Ever #72 is brighter and matte. For spring/summer, Aveda Eyeshadow ($14.00 for 0.04 oz.) released several shades, and I’m reviewing four of them in this post. The Petal Essence eyeshadow formula is supposed to be “non-fading,” “flower wax-infused,” “silky,” and “both color-true and crease-resistant.”  Two of the shades I tried were powdery, while the other two were soft and smooth.  The color payoff varied between good and great, but I noticed that these had a tendency to fade after seven hours of wear (without a primer), with Cinnamon Bark being the lone shade that lasted for a full eight hours without fading or creasing.  All four shades were blendable during application.

Papyrus is described as a “satiny, budding green.” It’s a warm, chartreuse green with a satiny sheen. It had decent color payoff, but the color looked slightly faded applied. The texture was soft and a bit powdery. Dior Peacock #1 is lighter and more shimmery. Buxom Shish Tzu is darker and a cream product. Dior Garden Pastels #1 is darker and more frosted. MAC Juxt is lighter.

Bare Bellis is described as a “satiny, baby pink.” It’s a rosy beige with subtle, warm undertones and a satiny sheen. It had good color payoff, but the texture was so soft that it was also powdery. Cinderella Midnight Hour is more beige and frosty. Urban Decay Laced is matte and slightly more beige. MAC Love Spice is more frosted.

Lantana is described as a “satiny, fresh coral.” It’s a softened, peachy brown with a pearly sheen. It had good color payoff and wasn’t powdery. Chanel Eclosion is more frosted.

Cinnamon Bark is described as a “satiny, rich mahogany.” It’s a rich, burgundy red with a satiny finish and strong, warm undertones.  The texture was soft and smooth but not powdery, and the pigmentation was rich and intense. Chanel Eclosion #4 is purpler, less warm-toned. Maybelline Pomegranate Punk is more burgundy and frosted. MAC Festive Delight #4 is similar. MAC Cranberry is more frosted. Inglot #452 is more frosted as well.

Dior Samba Summer Nail Duo ($29.00 2 x 0.23 fl. oz.) contains two miniature-sized polishes from Dior’s summer collection, Bird of Paradise. They look just like Dior’s full-size polishes in exterior packaging, but they have a regular brush (compared to their wider, more tapered brush) that is wider than a normal brush, but it is not tapered.

Samba (794) is described as a “metallic peacock green.” It’s a bold, shimmering green-teal with an almost warm tone (from the green) and has a metallic finish. It was fully opaque in two coats, and while there were visible brush strokes, they were subtler and less distracting from the color/finish–they were also more easily controlled (so they look straight, rather than wonky). The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. Chanel Azure is darker, more of a duochrome, and ultimately, looks bluer and not nearly as bright as this. I think that you might prefer one over the other, but they’re not dupes. China Glaze Deviantly Daring is much bluer. Wet ‘n’ Wild Teal or No Teal is bluer. ORLY Haley’s Comet is more glittery, darker.

Samba (402) is described as a “cool turquoise.” It’s a darkened mint green cream. It was opaque for the most part after two coats, but the polish was somewhat streaky in places, so there were some patches that did not look quite opaque. Essie Turuquoise & Caicos is darker, less warm-toned. It reminded me a lot of Illamasqua Nomad. China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint is lighter. Essie First Timer is also similar–slightly greener.

For two Dior polishes, it’s almost a deal.  Normally, Dior’s polishes retail $23 for 0.33 fl. oz., which is $69.70/oz., while this kit is $63.04/oz., as you get 0.46 fl. oz. for $29.  If you have larger hands or longer fingers, you might find the smaller bottles harder to hold and use.

shu uemura OB Dream Orange Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine ($30.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a softened orange with warm, peach and tangerine shimmer and a glossy finish. Clarins Sunset Rouge is a bit darker, less opaque. Chanel Sari Dore is a bit brighter, redder in tone. Guerlain Orange Euphorique is also redder in tone. I think Chanel La Pausa comes the closest–if you applied gloss over it.

For as creamy and lightweight as this feels and as glossy as this looks, it was very pigmented. It covered most of my natural lip color with just a hint of translucency. The texture is slick and creamy, but it has a tendency to settle somewhat into lip lines. This formula is supposed to have “high color pay-off” with a “double moisture system for supreme moisture.” They nailed the color payoff, and it’s an incredibly rich and hydrating lipstick. It actually felt more like a thin gloss applied but with the color more expected of a lipstick. The only downside was the wear time was two and a half hours, which is shy of my average of four with lipstick, as this slips around more.

MAC Temperature Rising Lipglasses ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) come in four shades: Liquid Passion (creamy nude), Rhythm (vivid magenta violet with pearl), Soft Serenade (mid-tone neutral pink with pearl), and Underdressed (bronze plum with multidimensional pearls).

Liquid Passion is a warm-toned, medium peach with beige and has a creamy finish. It has mostly opaque color payoff, but it does settle into lip lines somewhat–it is surprisingly even for this kind of color and finish, though. This shade lasted three and a half hours on me. MAC Peachstock is similar but thicker, glossier. MAC Naked Space is shimmery and more yellow-beige in tone. MAC Ready or Not! is a touch darker.

Rhythm is a magenta-fuchsia with fine shimmer and sparkle. It mostly tints the lips pink and adds some sparkle. I can see this working well as a quick and easy go-to gloss during the summer. The shimmer is very fine but still has a lot of sparkle. This shade wore well for four hours. MAC Astral is more opaque. Benefit Kiss You is similar in color but not shimmery. Burberry Hibiscus is darker, less shimmer. Bobbi Brown Electric Violet is cooler-toned. MAC Aleydis is cooler-toned, more fuchsia. Urban Decay Jilted is similar but has fuchsia shimmer.

Soft Serenade is a soft beige-brown with beige shimmer and sparkle. It has semi-sheer color payoff and evens out my lip color while adding warmth and shimmer. It lasted four hours on me when I wore it. MAC Deliciously Demure is lighter, more frosted. Bobbi Brown Becah is darker, browner. Bobbi Brown Bronzed Heather is also browner.

Underdressed is a darkened brown with a hint of plum and gold and copper sparkle/shimmer. This is the sparkliest of the four, and I think it’s the prettiest on. It’s semi-sheer with lots of shimmer, and the base color darkens the natural lip color but doesn’t cover it. This gloss lasted just over four hours on me when I tested it for wear. Dior Ambre Lumiere has much finer shimmer but is close. MAC Spree is cooler-toned. Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir is sheerer, less brown.

With the exception of Liquid Passion, the consistency of these seemed thinner, not quite as thick as normal Lipglass. They had finer shimmer, too, and didn’t appear as frosted on the lips. I didn’t feel any grit to the sparkle, either, even as they wore away. I actually see them being big hits for anyone who likes the Lipglass formula (because it is rather tacky, which is a deal-breaker for some) as a sparkling lip color for summer. They performed much like Lipglass in terms of wear; they lasted about average and were neither hydrating nor drying.
