Deborah Lippmann Billionaire Nail Lacquer
Deborah Lippmann Billionaire Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Billionaire Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Billionaire Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “moody hunter green” with a cream finish. This is a really murky, blackened green with more black than green. There’s a hint of olive-brown in the base, which contributes to the forboding look of the color. Chanel Khaki Brun has similar qualities, but it’s much, much lighter, so it appears green, rather than nearly black. Rescue Beauty Lounge Anne is closer in the overall color, but the shimmer in its finish makes it quite different. I couldn’t think of an exact dupe or even a shade that came close to it.

Like the other shades from the fall collection (yes, fall), Billionaire has an excellent formula that’s neither thick or thin.  It applies fluidly and evenly without bubbling, pooling, or streaking.  The color is opaque in two coats, though it’s nearly opaque in one.  One of Deborah Lippmann’s strengths is the wear of the polish; I typically get a week of wear with minimal tip wear and no chipping.

Billionaire applies flawlessly; it really has an amazing formula that’s not too thick or too thin, wonderfully pigmented, and applies without bubbling, streaking, or pooling. There’s a natural shine when it dries, though I advise a top coat for a glossy finish. I’ve had excellent wear with Deborah Lippmann’s formula–typically a week with very minimal tip wear with no chipping.

Another shade with an excellent formula, though I think this is one of those shades that will absolutely draw some in and repulse others. It reads--at least on me--as one of those "pretty ugly" colors that can go either way, depending on one's perspective.

Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer
Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “flirtatious red” with a cream finish. The color description could be more helpful! It’s a rich, deep brown red that’s opaque in two coats. This kind of red has a lot of similar shades available, including: MAC Blueblood (darker), China Glaze Velvet Bow (can’t see any differences), Urban Decay Wrecked (darker), MAC Purple Majesty (less brown, darker), Zoya Anja (darker), and Rescue Beauty Lounge Drifter (purpler)–and that’s just naming a few.

Single Ladies applies flawlessly; it really has an amazing formula that’s not too thick or too thin, wonderfully pigmented, and applies without bubbling, streaking, or pooling. There’s a natural shine when it dries, though I advise a top coat for a glossy finish. I’ve had excellent wear with Deborah Lippmann’s formula–typically a week with very minimal tip wear with no chipping.

It's a perfectly pigmented shade with an absolutely flawless formula to boot--it's just a shade that has numerous dupes, so you may already own something like it!

Urban Decay Underground Deluxe Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Underground Deluxe Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Underground Deluxe Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Underground Deluxe Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “medium fawn.” It’s a medium-dark gray-tinted brown; it’s rather taupe to me, though not as cool-toned as some taupes can be. The finish has a frosted appearance with a hint of metallic sheen. MAC Caviar Dreams has a similar color but different finish. Benefit Dandy Brandy is much more of a red-toned brown than taupe. Tarina Tarantino Delightful has a warmer base. MAC Magical Mist is a bit lighter. Bare Escentuals A-Ha has a redder undertone. MAC Aloha has a redder undertone and a more metallic finish.

When I tested out the wear of Underground alone, it adhered really nicely to the lid, so I didn’t have any creasing or fading after eight hours, which is impressive for an eyeshadow without a primer! I love the texture of the Deluxe Eyeshadows, because it’s so soft, buttery, and dense. The color payoff is lovely with a smooth, even finish. These eyeshadows are also almost twice as big as the regular ones for just a buck more.

The plastic part of the lid tends to fall off, though, and it’s a problem I’ve had consistently with the Deluxe Eyeshadows, unfortunately. The lid itself consists of the actual lid mechanism and lid, but there’s a clear plastic lid that clicks over that to protect the design (which is printed on paper), and that is the piece that falls off–so your shadow stays intact, but it’s still frustrating.

Another beautiful taupe brown that will work well in a more dramatic, smoky eye as well as a neutral shade for easy, go-to looks.

Ozotic #505 Nail Lacquer
Ozotic #505 Nail Lacquer

Ozotic #505 Nail Lacquer

Ozotic #505 Nail Lacquer ($14.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a multi-chromatic polish that shifts green, pink, cyan, and blue. It is more of a layering polish than anything else–you can see the color alone, but in order for the multi-chromatic effect to really pop, a darker underlayer works best. I applied two coats of it alone on my index and middle fingers, and then I applied one coat of it over a black polish on my ring finger. Alone, there are bits of silvery blue, fuchsia purple, and blue-purple that seem to catch the light. Over black, it looks like teal, forest green, fuchsia purple, and bluish-purple.

The formula wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it applied easily without streaking or bubbling.  It actually had surprising coverage on its own–just shy of being opaque with a hint of visible nail line after two coats.

A+
Ozotic definitely knows how to make a duochrome/multi-chrome polish, and if you're really in the market for one--don't waste money on imitations; Ozotic is a surefire way to get the results you want with an excellent formula.

NARS Night Rider Nail Lacquer
NARS Night Rider Nail Lacquer

NARS Night Rider Nail Lacquer

NARS Night Rider Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft plum with silver glitter.” It’s a pink-plum with silver glitter–but the way the glitter sits against the pink-plum makes it appear almost like a really pale, silvered lilac. I couldn’t think of any good dupes for it, but Nubar Treasure Nail (darker purple) and Milani Hi-Res (holographic, darker) were the closest–I wouldn’t say they’re close, though.

Night Rider is opaque in two coats and requires no patience at all during application, because the formula balances consistency with pigmentation, so it applies evenly, fluidly, and without a hitch.  I typically get a week of wear out of NARS’ formula with minor tip wear but no chipping.  I’m not unforgiving to my nails, but I don’t make any attempts to preserve a manicure, so I definitely use my nails as tools!

Urban Decay Honey Deluxe Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Honey Deluxe Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Honey Deluxe Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Honey Deluxe Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “glistening gold.” It’s a rich, luxurious yellowed gold with hints of antique gold and a softly frosted finish. NARS Paramaribo is darker, more burnished. Make Up For Ever #11 is cooler-toned, less yellowed. Le Metier de Beaute Chameleon is browner, less golden. Inglot #404 is more coppery. Inglot #430 is brighter but the closest.

It’s part of Urban Decay’s Deluxe Eyeshadow range, which has a denser, softer texture compared to their regular formula, so it feels very buttery. The pigmentation is excellent, and it requires very little product to achieve smooth, even results. When worn alone, it adheres well and lasts for eight hours without creasing or fading. Over a primer, I have no wear issues for as long as twelve hours. Bonus: this is almost double the size of Urban Decay’s regular formula but at almost the same price!  The only downside is I find the packaging of the Deluxe Eyeshadows to be flimsy–the plastic lid tends to pop off the top of the compact easily.

It's a beautiful color that will flatter hazel and green eyes immensely--it will also work other eye colors, too, but those two especially. It's a warm, almost dirty, gold, that pairs well with other browns, warm coppers, and olive greens.
