Estee Lauder Dramatic Teal Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon ($22.00 for 0.08 oz.) is described as “turquoise.” It’s a new and limited edition item from Estee Lauder Topaz for spring. The new formula is supposed to be creamy, richly pigmented (intense color in “one single stroke”), and blendable. Estee Lauder also says it can be used on the lower inner rim of the eye.
It’s so lovely! The color aside, which is gorgeous, but the formula is fantastic. It’s perfectly pigmented, and it’s nearly opaque in a single pass (and once you get past the initial tip, which is very fine-tipped, it’s easier to get that opaque line in one go). The consistency is very, very creamy, and it glides on the lash line effortlessly. I was expecting this to have some wear issues, but like the recent Kajal eyeliners, it didn’t budge. It wore for eight hours on my lower waterline, which is very impressive. On my lower lash line, it wore for twelve hours. No smudging, fading, migration, or any of that nonsense; just pure long-wearing color.
The color it is a dark blue-teal. It’s creamy with no shimmer, so it has more of a matte finish. It’s darker compared to Estee Lauder Electric Teal, though the difference isn’t extreme, so you may find you only need one.
These come sharpened, and the tip is extremely fine and long. It sharpens like other jumbo eye pencils, but because it has the consistency of your normal pencil eyeliner, there is a lot less waste than if this was a creamy jumbo eye pencil (think Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencils, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencils). The waste is the same as an eyeliner (it wasn’t enough to make me concerned).
Amazing pigmentation, wear, and feel! Estee Lauder's been stepping up their game, and their newest eye crayon has shown just how much. Don't sleep on this one; I expect this shade to be a sellout just like Electric Teal from holiday.

Chanel Tigerlily Ombre Essentielle / Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($28.50 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “golden orange.” It’s a warm tangerine orange with a soft golden orange shimmer set in a low-sheen finish. It reminded me a lot of MAC Juiced, which is a little dirtier–not quite as clean of a color as Tigerlily. MAC Straw Harvest is also similar but lighter.
The color payoff is good, delivering a healthy amount of color without having to pack it on, and the texture is soft, smooth, and even. Though I’m not always in love with Chanel’s eyeshadow quads, I’ve had really good luck with their individual eyeshadow formula. They tend to have that silky-smooth feel that just adheres to the lid without work; it’s like they just melt against the skin for a smooth appearance that’s about as natural as orange skin is ever going to look. The shimmer is faint but noticeable; it enhances but doesn’t overwhelm, so if you find frosty finishes tend to accentuate lid texture, this is a nice way to get some of the reflective qualities of a frostier finish without that problem.
This type of orange is very on-trend for 2012, and the balance between softness and vibrancy is done well with Tigerlily. It has enough brightness not to look burnt, but it's not so bright that it reads neon.

It has a silky soft feel; the powder is incredibly finely-milled, which gives it a yielding, dense texture that melts against the skin. It applies smoothly and without any powderiness, despite its softness, and really clings and adheres to the skin well. This type of color is an effortless nude, and it may not work on everyone, but it will be stunning on the right complexion. I see this working best on light to light-medium skin tones, both warm and cool.

Essie Cocktail Bling Collection ($8.00 for 0.46 fl. oz.) is comprised of six shades: Brooch the Subject (creamy cashmere cameo), Cocktail Bling (precious pale gray jewel), Bangle Jangle (lavender amethyst), School of Hard Rocks (midnight malachite), Bobbing for Baubles (deepest darkest sapphire), and Size Matters (blazing hot ruby red).
Brooch the Subject is a neutral light-medium beige. This is one of my new favorites when it comes to nudes, because it doesn’t lean warm or cool. It’s opaque in two coats. It’s not as peach as Rescue Beauty Sheer Nude but not as cool-toned as MAC Quiet Time.
Cocktail Bling is a really cool-toned gray lavender with a cream finish that’s opaque in two coats. Zoya Caitlin is similar in family but it is several shades darker.
Bangle Jangle is a pink-lavender cream that’s opaque in two coats. It’s much warmer compared to Cocktail Bling. It’s darker than MAC Little Girl Type and Zoya Marley but not as pink as Essie Nice is Nice.
School of Hard Rocks is a muted, almost gray-tinted, teal. It’s more of a dusty teal that leans green. It’s opaque in two coats and has a cream finish. MAC Blue India was the only comparable shade I could find, though it is bluer.
Bobbing for Baubles is an inky deep, dark bluish purple cream. It’s opaque in almost one coat, though I did two for swatches. Despite tons of blue polishes swatched, I couldn’t think of a dupe for this one–it’s that purplish tint that makes it difficult I think!
Size Matters is a deep red cream that’s opaque in two coats (though almost in one). China Glaze Winter Berry and MAC Get Noticed are a touch brighter and lighter.
Essie does cream polishes really, really well. It’s like if I want a certain color in a cream finish, I’ll look to Essie first. The winter collection is fab from start to finish, because every shade is a delight to work with–smooth, even application with polish that’s not too thick or too thin. It doesn’t streak, bubble, or later on, chip. I get minimal tip wear with Essie’s polishes, as it is a solid lacquer. I also loved that Cocktail Bling, School of Hard Rocks, and Bobbing for Baubles didn’t have any similar shades that I could think of–it’s tough to be original!

The Rouge d’Armani formula is a good one. It’s a long-wearing formula (supposed to be up to eight hours!) with intense color, comfortable to wear, no fading/feathering, and moisturizing. The intensity of this red wears for at least eight hours but, while slightly more matte by eight hours, could be worn without reapplication for a few more hours. It has a creamy texture that makes for effortless application and easy glide, but it’s lightweight and adheres well without clinging. I haven’t had it bleed or feather, and it is nicely hydrating. This formula is scent- and taste-free. I also like that it has a magnetic enclosure.
This lipstick does everything well--from the functional packaging to the long-wearing, moisturizing formula. The only thing left to decide is whether the color is the right one from you!

Illamasqua Raindrops Nail Lacquer (£13.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer light grey” with a jelly finish. I loved this shade from the moment I applied it; this was actually my nail color of choice when I went to NYC for Fashion Week this past September (it had been raining quite a bit, so it seemed totally appropriate). It’s a semi-sheer, light stormy gray with flakes of light gray shimmer. I used two coats for swatches, and as expected, you can see the nail line, but I have worn it with three and four coats, and it is more opaque at that level. I couldn’t think of anything like this shade.
Illamasqua’s formula is one of my top five favorites, because it wears like iron. I wore Raindrops for my trip, which means I was nowhere near nice or delicate with my nails, as I was hauling heavy luggage and heavier camera equipment over a week. I didn’t even end up removing the polish for ten days after I had applied it, and there was hardly tip wear, like just barely. The formula has a great consistency so it flows evenly across the nail bed, and it’s not thick at all, so if you prefer more opaque color, you can easily wear three or four coats without compromising the integrity of the wear.
It's a great shade to wear during the fall/winter and even into spring, as it's light but stormy, and the name is totally appropriate during the rainy seasons! The wear is fantastic; no chips, barely any tip wear!
