Marc Jacobs Beauty Brown(out), (Plum)age, (Wave)length Highliner Gel Crayons

Marc Jacobs Beauty Brown(out) (54) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Beauty Brown(out) (54) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Here are the last three of the seven new Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.). If you’re unfamiliar with the formula, it’s a pencil eyeliner that is supposed to be “waterproof, long-wearing, [and have] color-intense payoff.” In general, I find the long-wearing and waterproof claims to be the most accurate with the color payoff depending on the shade.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Brown(out) (54) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “golden brown.” It’s a medium-dark brown with subtle, golden sparkle and shimmer over a neutral-to-warm base. It had excellent color payoff in a single stroke, and it was creamy, easy to apply, and lasted for nine hours on my lower lash line. Buxom Come Over (P, $17.00) is a touch lighter. MAC Deliciously Rich (LE, $16.00) is more sparkly. Urban Decay Corrupt (P, $19.00) is darker, less shimmery. MAC Lord It Up (P, $15.00) is slightly darker. MAC Orpheus (LE, $16.00) is darker, less sparkly. Burberry Midnight Brown (P, $27.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty (Plum)age (60) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “vivid purple.” It’s a slightly brightened, medium-dark violet purple with subtle, warm undertones and purple sparkle. This seemed like one of the more sparkly shades in the range–not just pearl/shimmer but a larger-sized sparkle. The consistency was still creamy and it glided on fairly easily, but it didn’t apply as evenly as I’d like. It takes some back-and-forth motions to get more opaque color coverage. The upside is that it still wears for a solid nine hours before starting to thin, but I noticed a few stray sparkles over time. Sephora Collection Eccentric Diva (P, $9.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Psychedelic Sister (P, $19.00) is slightly warmer, less sparkly. Milani Perfect Purple (P, $6.99) is a touch darker. MAC Designer Purple (P, $15.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Marc Jacobs Beauty (Wave)length (68) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “midnight blue.” It’s a medium-dark, brightened navy blue with a pearly sheen. It had pretty sad, sheer color payoff in a single stroke, and it wasn’t as buildable as I’d like–it gets to semi-opaque color but doesn’t become fully opaque no matter how many layers I tried. The texture of the pencil was lightly creamy, and it didn’t skip or tug at the lash line. It wore well for eight hours on me. Stila Ultramarine (P, $20.00) Buxom Pick Me Up (P, $17.00) MAC Blue Stripe (LE, $16.00) MAC Petrol Blue (P, $15.00) Make Up For Ever #3L (P, $19.00) See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Estee Lauder Rebellious Rose (420) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick

Estee Lauder Rebellious Rose (420) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “rich rose.” It’s a muted, rosy coral with warm undertones and a soft, luminous sheen. It had fully opaque pigmentation that was easy to apply, due to the lightly creamy, glide-on consistency of the formula. Estee Lauder Tumultuous Pink (240) Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “bright pink fuchsia.” It’s a vibrant, fuchsia-red with subtle, cool undertones and a soft shine. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. This shade lasted for six and a half hours and left behind a pink stain. The formula was moderately hydrating and comfortable to wear. Guerlain Rose Grenat (864) (LE, $51.00) is similar. Estee Lauder Dominant (P, $30.00) is cooler-toned, lighter. Bite Beauty Damask & Crimson Deconstructed Rose Lipsticks

Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick
Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick

Bite Beauty Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a recently released set of four shades (I reviewed two here, and this post features the other two shades) “inspired by the ever-changing color of a rose.” They’re creamy, light-medium in weight, richly pigmented, hydrating, and wear well. The formula is rose-scented, but I didn’t have any issues with taste. In all honesty, the formula didn’t really seem any different from the Luminous Creme lipstick, but an attempt to read through the ingredient list on this one (which is difficult to read on this packaging), while it is similar to the Luminous Creme, doesn’t appear to be exactly the same.

Bite Beauty Damask Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “rosy pink.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a glossy shine. This one seemed glossier than the other shades, but it still applied evenly and smoothly with full color coverage. This shade lasted for four hours on me. Sephora Collection Flamingo (LE, $12.50) is lighter, brighter. Revlon Snow Peach (LE, $7.99) is warmer, less pink. MAC Be a Lady (P, $22.00) is slightly warmer. Bite Beauty Sweety (LE, $24.00) is pinker, matte. Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (LE, $49.00) is darker, warmer. YSL Caress Pink (9) (P, $34.00) is very similar. Givenchy Rose Taffetas (201) (P, $36.00) is less glossy. MAC Hoop (DC, $16.00) is lighter, more matte. Chanel Hyde Park (LE, $34.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Crimson Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “muted dark purple.” It’s a bold, brightened, medium-dark berry-red with cool, blue undertones. It’s one of those shades that seems red, fuchsia, plum, and berry all at the same time. It had rich, opaque pigmentation and applied very evenly and smoothly to the lip without streaking or settling into lip lines. This shade wore well for six hours and left a stain behind. Guerlain Rose Grenat (864) (LE, $51.00) is lighter. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is darker, sheerer. YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) (P, $34.00) is darker, cooler-toned. MAC Commotion (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Too Faced Jelly Bean (P, $21.00) is slightly cooler-toned, brighter. MAC Pleasure Bomb (LE, $16.00) is brighter, more matte. Guerlain Provocative (863) (LE, $51.00) is slightly brighter. MAC All Fired Up (P, $16.00) is more matte. Marc Jacobs Beauty Seduce Me (128) (P, $30.00) is darker. Urban Decay Catfight (P, $22.00) is warmer. MAC Lush Life (P, $22.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Centifolia & Grandifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipsticks

Bite Beauty Centifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick
Bite Beauty Centifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick

Bite Beauty Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a recently released set of four shades (two included in this post, two I’ll review shortly!) “inspired by the ever-changing color of a rose.” They’re creamy, light-medium in weight, richly pigmented, hydrating, and wear well.

Bite Beauty Centifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “muted peach.” It’s a light-medium, muted peach-orange with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had rich, full color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly without gathering into the vertical lines of the lip. This shade wore well for four hours, which is about average, and it was the shortest-wearing of the four shades. Sephora Collection Samba (LE, $12.50) is brighter, warmer. Too Faced Melted Coral (P, $21.00) is brighter, lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Sweet Spot (05) (LE, $49.00) is sheerer. Givenchy Brun Createur (103) (P, $36.00) is darker, rosier. Givenchy Croisiere Coral (310) (LE, $36.00) is slightly more matte, darker. MAC Style Surge (P, $22.00) is a touch darker. MAC Razzledazzler (LE, $16.00) is lighter, sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Grandifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “fiery red.” It’s a vibrant, orange-red with warm undertones and a luminous shine. The color payoff is intense–extremely rich and full coverage in a single pass. The color lasted for six hours and left behind a warm, reddish stain. Givenchy Carmin Escarpin (306) (P, $36.00) is similar. Dior Trafalgar (844) (P, $34.00) is more orange. MAC Dangerous (P, $16.00) is matte. Maybelline Infra-red (LE, $7.49) is very similar. Maybelline Neon Red (P, $7.49) is more orange. MAC Scarlet Ibis (LE, $16.00) is matte. Guerlain Genna (LE, $51.00) is a touch darker. Hourglass Raven (P, $28.00) is matte, brighter. Make Up For Ever #310 HD Blush

Make Up For Ever #310 HD Blush
Make Up For Ever #310 HD Blush

Make Up For Ever #310 HD Blush ($26.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “rosewood.” It’s a medium, muted rosy pink with a soft, satiny sheen. It is slightly warm-toned, but it doesn’t turn coral or look reddish. Tarte Fearless (P, $26.00) is brighter, powder. theBalm Houndstooth (P, $22.00) is slightly more plum, powder. NYX Peach (P, $5.00) is brighter, powder. NYX Apricot (P, $15.00) is warmer, powder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I continue to be impressed by the new HD Blush formula, and I’m just so pleased that the shades have performed consistently well. It’s always frustrating when a formula is inconsistent, as you never know whether a new shade will be a hit or miss, but with this range, every shade has been quite good. #310 is no exception! It had excellent, rich color payoff that can be as bold or as subtle as you’d like. The formula itself is lightly creamy but sets and dries down to a powder-like texture after twenty to thirty seconds, but what’s nice is that the powder-like texture is blendable like you’d expect a powder blush to be. It’s just so easy to apply, blend, and then it wears well–a solid nine hours with this particular shade.
