Chanel Inspiration (64) Le Blush Creme de Chanel
Chanel Inspiration (64) Le Blush Creme de Chanel

Chanel Inspiration (64) Le Blush Creme de Chanel ($38.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “soft blue pink.” It’s a light-medium pink with cool, blue undertones and a satin-matte finish. theBalm Argyle is brighter, darker. Edward Bess Filled with Desire is similar. MAC Stay Pretty is slightly darker. MAC Rosy Outlook is warmer. MAC So Sweet, So Easy is a smidgen lighter. Bobbi Brown Nude Pink is darker. See comparison swatches.

Though it’s a paler color, it had really buildable, true-to-pan color payoff that still enabled the color to show up on my medium complexion–and surprisingly, it didn’t turn ashy or chalky against my skin tone, either. For really pale complexions, this would be a lovely everyday kind of blush, and one of the easier shades to use from the Le Blush Creme de Chanel range, because it’s nearly foolproof compared to some of the darker shades. On bare skin, it lasted well for almost eight hours and was noticeably faded after nine hours. Over foundation, it didn’t turn patchy and sat well on it for nine hours and I saw faint signs of fading at ten hours (really!).

Chanel Fantastic (66) Le Blush Creme de Chanel
Chanel Fantastic (66) Le Blush Creme de Chanel

Chanel Fantastic (66) Le Blush Creme de Chanel ($38.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “burgundy.” It looks like a deeper, plummy red in the pan, but applied, it takes on a pinky-plum coloring with a natural, not-quite-matte finish. It has cool, bluish undertones. If you worried that Chanel Affinite would be too similar, it is lighter and warmer. Tom Ford Narcissist is similar but shimmery (and a powder). Burberry Hydrangea Pink is slightly redder and a powder product. See comparison swatches.

The color payoff is fantastic (ha, ha) with rich, full color coverage that’s buildable and blendable. It’s easy to go overboard, so use a light hand and less than you think you’ll need. The consistency is lightly creamy and almost turns to a powdery feeling as soon as it hits the skin, but it’s not truly a powder. It remains lightly blendable and is very easy to sheer out and soften along the edges while maintaining even coloring. I could see this shade working well across all skin tones. When I wore this, the blush lasted a full nine hours without fading, and even after ten hours, there was only very slight signs of fading.

Hourglass Radiant Light Ambient Lighting Powder
Hourglass Radiant Light Ambient Lighting Powder

Hourglass Radiant Light Ambient Lighting Powder ($45.00 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “golden beige powder.” It’s a subdued, light-medium peach-orange with golden shimmer. Because of the type of product it is, it sheers out considerably to mostly translucent powder that adds warmth and radiance. NARS Miss Liberty has a similar coloring but has larger shimmer/sparkle. Chanel Lucky Stripes is more pigmented and works as a bronzer/highlighter. See comparison swatches.

The texture is very soft and finely-milled; feels like silk and blends out smoothly, but it is a very soft powder so there is some excess powder that gets dislodged while brushing against the surface. Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powders are supposed to mimic different types of light, generally giving skin a softer, smoother look with subtle glow Radiant Light is supposed to “[enhance] the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth.”  That’s exactly what it does:  it gives skin a gentle warmth while having a soft-focus effect that makes skin appear smoother than it actually is.  Because this is a powder, for my normal-to-dry skin, it also sets my foundation and prolongs the wear of my foundation by an hour (like a setting powder), even though it’s not claimed to do so. I suspect on very fair skin that this may be like a soft bronzer.

Fyrinnae Sleepy Hollow Eyeshadow (Loose)
Fyrinnae Sleepy Hollow Eyeshadow (Loose)

Fyrinnae Sleepy Hollow Eyeshadow (Loose) ($6.25 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “lush deep ocean blue with a flash of sage green.” It’s a bluish-teal with a flash of green-gold shimmer and sparkle. It has a frosted, slightly metallic, sheen. The color payoff applied damp or over Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy was fully opaque. Disney Caspian Sea is lighter. Tom Ford Emerald Lust #3 is cooler-toned. theBalm Open to Offers Olwen is similar. MAC Parrot is brighter. Inglot #413 is more muted, lighter. See comparison swatches.

Fyrinnae Sleepy Hollow Pressed Eyeshadow ($8.25 for 0.07 oz.) is a pressed version of the loose version mentioned above. I highly recommend Fyrinnae’s Pressed Eyeshadows if you’ve always been curious about the brand but are not keen on loose eyeshadows. The loose eyeshadow version is slightly more complex, but it’s only slightly noticeable when swatched and seen side-by-side in person and really not apparent on the lid. The biggest difference is the loose version sparkles more–it just seems to catch and reflect the light a bit better, so it also appears a smidgen lighter and the “flash of sage green” is more noticeable at times. The texture is slightly silkier with the loose version.

The pressed version wore better without a base than the loose one, as it had less fall out, though neither of them were faded or creased after eight hours of wear. Applied over Pixie Epoxy, there was no distinguishable difference in wear; no fall out, creasing, or fading. Note, Pixie Epoxy is designed the work primarily as an adhesive base, so it is not a substitute for a primer. If you have oilier lids, you may want to layer a primer underneath. (I just haven’t found I need a primer underneath to get long-wear out of them, but I have normal-to-dry lids!) Fyrinnae does not claim long-wear with this and recommends a primer and Pixie Epoxy when wearing their eyeshadows for long-lasting wear and minimal fall out.

Urban Decay Turn On 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil
Urban Decay Turn On 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

This post is part of a series of reviews featuring Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils ($19.00 for 0.04 oz. each). Please see part one for more in-depth coverage on the formula overall. This post features pinks and plums from the shade range.  These will launch initially on urbandecay.com and then roll out to Sephora, Macy’s, Beauty.com, and ULTA shortly after.

Turn On 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “rose-pink with soft pearl.” It’s a muted, slightly cool-toned, medium-dark pink with a mostly matte finish and a hint of shimmer. It had opaque color coverage and wore for six hours. MAC Just Wonderful is more subdued, slightly plum. MAC Pink Treat is darker. See comparison swatches.

Manic 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “rosy wine.” It’s a warm-toned, medium-dark pink with a matte finish. It applied with opaque color payoff, though this one was slightly drier compared to other shades.  It lasted six and a half hours. MAC In Anticipation is lighter, more neutral. MAC Just Wonderful is more plum. MAC Pink Treat is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

Rush 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “pink-mauve with soft pearl.” It’s a muted, medium-dark pink with silver shimmer and sparkle. This shade was a bit drier in consistency, so it looked drier applied, and I found that my lips were just slightly dry after wearing this compared to other shades..  It wore for six hours.  MAC In Anticipation is darker, less shimmery. MAC Pink Treat is darker. See comparison swatches.

Obsessed 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “baby pink.” It’s a light-medium, cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a matte finish. It was fully opaque on lips and wore well for six and a half hours. MAC Silly is not quite as blue-based. See comparison swatches.

Native 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “pale pink.” It’s a light-medium, almost neutral-toned pink (it almost looks gray-ish) with a matte finish. It had full color payoff when applied to the lips and lasted for six hours when I wore it. MAC Hip ‘n’ Happy is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

Streak 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “coral pink with soft pearl.” It’s a warm, true coral with a white shimmer over a matte finish. It had rich color payoff, though the texture was slightly drier compared to the other shades from the shimmer content. It lasted six and a half hours when I tested Streak.  I couldn’t think of any dupes for this shade.

Urban Decay Naked 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil
Urban Decay Naked 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

This post features beiges and browns from the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils ($19.00 for 0.04 oz. each) shade range. This post is part of a series of reviews, so please see part one for more in-depth coverage on the formula overall. These will launch initially on urbandecay.com and then roll out to Sephora, Macy’s, Beauty.com, and ULTA shortly after.

Naked 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “nude-pink.” It’s a warm-toned, light-medium beige-pink with a matte finish and warm undertones–it almost looks like a muted pink-coral. It was fully opaque applied to the lips and wore well for six hours on me. MAC Have to Have It is darker, browner. MAC Boldly Beige is darker, warmer. See comparison swatches.

Naked 2 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “medium beige-nude.” It is a warm-toned, light-medium brown with hints of beige and a matte finish. It applied with mostly opaque color and lasted six hours when I tried it. MAC Have to Have It is darker. MAC Boldly Bare is similar. See comparison swatches.

Deep 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “warm brown-nude.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had full color coverage when applied to the lips and lasted six and a half hours when I wore it. This shade was slightly drier compared to other shades. MAC Staunchly Stylish is more neutral-toned. MAC Morning Coffee is more plum. MAC Nice ‘n’ Spicy is slightly darker. MAC Etcetera is lighter, cooler-toned. MAC Have to Have It is slightly lighter. See comparison swatches.

Liar 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “mauve-nude.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned, plum brown with a mostly matte finish. It had full color coverage when applied, and it wore well for seven hours. MAC Morning Coffee is slightly browner. MAC Absolutely It is much more plum. See comparison swatches.

Ozone 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($19.00 for 0.04 oz.) is perfectly clear, so it can be used outside the lip line as well as a more traditional lip liner. I like it for both uses, but I often to use it more for outside the natural lip line to keep the color perfectly within the lines.
