Rant & Rave: Contouring and Highlighting

This Week’s Topic: Contouring and Highlighting

Share: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about contouring and highlighting. Is it necessary? Does one matter more than the other?

my answer: I think contouring can have a major impact in photos, and it’s always worth doing for special occasions. Highlighting is something that I think is easier to do and thus is something more readily incorporated into a regular routine, and it’s more “fun” since you can use a whole slew of products, finishes, etc.

Rant & Rave: Shimmery White Eyeshadow

This Week’s Topic: Shimmery White Eyeshadow

Share: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about shimmering white eyeshadow. Do you use it? How so?

my answer: I can only use it as a lid color, as it is too stark on my brow bone. I like using shimmering white eyeshadows against blues, teals, and purples.

Rant & Rave: Bronzer

This Week’s Topic: Bronzer

Share: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about bronzer. What drives you bananas? What makes them necessary?

my answer: I very rarely reach for it. Perhaps because I’m naturally warm-toned and medium in color I don’t think about bronzer, but the only time I ever wear it is to test it out, LOL! They can be nice to add a little sunkissed glow.

Rant & Rave: Sheer Lipstick

This Week’s Topic: Sheer Lipstick!

Your Mission: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about sheer lipstick. What drives you bananas? What makes them necessary?

my answer: They’re easier to use for every day, but of course, you can always take a more pigmented lipstick and use less of it (or mix it with some balm) for sheerer color. I think that it is easier to have a lipstick that starts of sheer or semi-sheer and use it that way than to blot down a really opaque lipstick than in the case of eyeshadow.

Rant & Rave: Sheer Eyeshadow

This Week’s Topic: Sheer Eyeshadow!

Your Mission: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about sheer eyeshadow. What drives you bananas? What makes them necessary?

my answer: They’re not my cup of tea… ever, really. Pigmented eyeshadow can always be blended or sheered out. It’s rare to find an eyeshadow that’s sheer but actually buildable – that doesn’t wind up looking caked on or powdery. So for me, sheer eyeshadow just doesn’t have a major place in my heart, but I know that for some, they’re much loved!
