OCC Magenta & Turquoise Pure Cosmetic Pigments

OCC Pure Cosmetic Pigments ($12.00 for 0.088 oz.) are a professional-use product sold by the brand. They’re pure, uncut pigments, so they are best used when mixed with other cosmetic bases; OCC suggests things like body lotions, cosmetic grade talc, mixing mediums, primers, or their clear Lip Tar. I’ve shown them swatched wet (with just water) and dry. These kinds of products can stain the skin as well.

• Magenta is a vibrant purpled magenta. When applied dry, it sheers and blends out easily as a result. With just a little water to dampen the color, it goes on more intensely. I couldn’t think of any dupes.
• Turquoise is a vibrant medium-dark teal. It’s a green-based teal. It didn’t apply as smoothly when I applied it with water, but it worked well dry, though it looked a touch chalky against my skin. Inglot #372 is a little lighter but similar in color. MAC Double Feature 3 is also similar.

This is kind of a product in its raw form; it’s something waiting to be transformed, so for readers who love to play with makeup and mix and twist things up, these could be fun. OCC Pansy Nail Lacquer

OCC Pansy Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described simply as “purple,” and it has a cream finish. It’s a pinked purple with subtle red undertones. At first, I thought it was comparable to Urban Decay Miss T, but Miss T is so much brighter and deeper. Pansy is closer to Essie’s Grenadine, though Grenadine comes out pinker.

OCC’s formula is four-free (it does not include DBP, formaldehyde, toulene, or formaldehyde resin), and it wears a full week on me with minor tip wear (but no chipping). Pansy was just right in consistency; not too thick or too thin. On top of that, it was nearly opaque in one coat, though I swatched with two for good measure.

	It's firmly between pink and purple; a lot of potentially similar shades lean too far in one directly. This is an easy purple for warmer skin tones to wear, too, because of the pink/red undertone.

OCC Extravaganza Nail Lacquer

OCC Extravaganza Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “rich pink/coral with gold shimmer overlay.” It’s a pinked-coral with golden micro-shimmer strewn through the base. The gold almost leans green-gold in certain angles. In some ways it’s comparable to Zoya Rica, but Zoya’s has a much larger gold particle shimmer in it (almost glittery in comparison), so the overall look is quite different. SpaRitual Hope Springs Eternal is closer in color but has a silvery shimmer and metallic finish.

OCC’s formula is four-free (it does not include DBP, formaldehyde, toulene, or formaldehyde resin), and it wears a full week on me with minor tip wear (but no chipping). Extravaganza had great drying time; I felt like it dried down by the time I finished doing one coat on each nail! The opacity is nice, too; I used two coats for opaque color. The consistency was thin without being watery with even flow across the nail.

	I couldn't find anything really duped this shade, so I like it just for being a little different. I think the mix of gold shimmer with the pink-coral base works well. It is a warmer shade, so it will naturally complement warmer complexions.

OCC Cruising Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “brassy gold shimmer.” It is supposed to coordinate with Cruising Loose Colour Concentrate. It’s a warmed-up yellow-tinted gold glitter mixed with brassier gold glitter particles. In lower light conditions, it looks warmer, more gold against my skin tone (which has yellow undertones), but under brighter light, it has a brassier look (more like the loose eyeshadow). The color reminded me most of China Glaze Midnight Kiss, except Cruising is the glitter version of it.

OCC’s formula is four-free (it does not include DBP, formaldehyde, toulene, or formaldehyde resin), and it wears a full week on me with minor tip wear (but no chipping). Cruising has a glitter finish, so it will dry down really quickly–which is lovely–but you’ll pay for it later with removal (just as you would with any glittery polish). I find that pressing a soaked piece of felt or cotton against the nail for 15-20 seconds and then repeating on the other shades works well. I press and hold for each finger, and when I’ve done that for all ten, I go back to the first and actually go to pull and remove the polish off the nail. The coverage is noteworthy for two coats of polish, too–nearly opaque.  The consistency of this polish stood out to me; it was a great balance in thickness that allowed for opaque color and even glitter distribution.

	It's opaque enough on to wear on its own, but it could also be used as a layering shade. It has a great dry down time, but make sure you give yourself a good chunk of time for removal!

OCC Palare Nail Lacquer

OCC Palare Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “deep fuchsia with blue/violet duochrome.” If you love eyeshadows like MAC Stars ‘n Rockets or Urban Decay Fishnet, you’ll love this polish version. It’s a fuchsia pink with iridescent violet and fuchsia shimmer that becomes more or less pronounced depending on the angle of the nail and the lighting conditions. The duochrome is definitely there, but it is on the subtler side.

I wasn’t sure if Palare would apply as well as it did, because the consistency is on the thinner side, but it is surprisingly pigmented and mostly opaque in two coats. The shimmer distributes well and is plentiful without resulting in visible brush strokes.

It seems odd to say this about an OCC polish, but it’s a muted version of Deborah Lippmann’s Makin’ Whoopee, which has so much brightness that it nearly radiates; it also runs cooler i tone and more of a purpled-fuchsia base color. Essie Bossa Nova is several shades darker and more red-based, but it has a similar feel.

	Palare is a fun color! The duochrome is present but downplayed, which may be good or bad, depending on your preference. It applied well, and the drying time was shorter than average.

OCC Femme Nail Lacquer

OCC Femme Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “shimmering flamingo pink.” It is designed to match Femme Lip Tar. It’s a softened yellow-toned pink with pearly white shimmer. The finish ends up slightly metallic with minor brush strokes that look like strands of shimmer pulled through the color. Femme appears warmer and contains shimmer when compared to China Glaze Empowerment. Chanel Mistral is a closer dupe, but it has larger, but sparsely placed, sparkles.

I used two coats of polish for swatches, and there is a hint of visible nail line showing. I don’t typically like the way brush strokes look (sometimes it can be well-done–like brushed metal), but this reminds me of cotton candy; there is an airiness to the color and interplay between the micro-shimmer and larger shimmer particles.

Femme had a good consistency, where it wasn’t watery but it wasn’t too thick, so it flowed easily across the nail during application.

	It's a totally unexpected shade for fall! There's a lighter-than-air feel with the color and shimmer. It has a springtime feel, but I know many of us don't let seasons dictate what we reach for!
