Don’t Overlook This Plum

OCC Overlook Loose Colour Concentrate ($12.50 for 2.5g) is described as a “deep plum shimmer.” It’s a red-toned medium-dark plum with a soft, frosted finish. When applied dry, it has a more subdued finish–less of a sheen–than it does when used damp, where the frosted sheen comes forth. Urban Decay Last Call is redder, less purple. Guerlain Boulevard du Montparnasse is darker, more purple, less of a sheen. Le Metier de Beaute Fig is darker, more burgundy. MAC Plum Dressing is a smidgen darker and less frosted. NARS Caravaggio is lighter, more purple.

It has a soft, silky-smooth texture with a finely-milled powder consistency.  It’s opaque whether it’s used dry or wet, though there is a notable difference in the finish depending on the application method.  Because it’s so finely-milled, it applies evenly and melts against the skin like butter.  I tried it on the eye without a primer, and I didn’t have any creasing or fading even after a full eight hours of wear.

It’s Blue! It’s Purple! Maybe It’s Both…

OCC Technoir Loose Colour Concentrate ($12.50 for 2.5g) is described as a “purpled navy shimmer.” It’s a bluish-violet with navy blue and violet shimmer. There was an almost duo-chrome-like finish to it. Giorgio Armani Ecailles is similar but has a more satiny finish. MAC Wintersky is lighter. Estee Lauder Untamed Violet is darker, more purple. Burberry Midnight Blue is similar, slightly bluer. MAC Naval Blue is darker, bluer.

The texture is soft, finely-milled, and applies smoothly without effort.  When applied dry, it has a softer, more subdued appearance and had good color payoff.  When applied wet, it was slightly richer in color, and it was fully pigmented.  I wore it on the lid for eight hours without a primer and did not experience any fading or creasing during that time period.  This shade will look bluer or more purple depending on what you use with it, but alone, it looks more purple than blue, but it’s not full-on purple.

OCC Triptych Loose Colour Concentrate ($12.00 for 0.088 oz. / 2.5 grams) is described as a “sleek, regal gold.” It’s a rich, vibrant shade of yellow gold with a frosted, metallic finish. The metallic finish comes out more strongly when it is applied damp/wet. Tarina Tarantino Mr. Gold/Mr. Silver is less metallic, less yellow. NARS Paramaribo is darker. Bare Escentuals Remix is less yellow. MAC Goldmine is more orange. Inglot #430 is slightly darker. Urban Decay Honey is very similar but less metallic.

I’m all over this kind of color.  Urban Decay’s Honey is one of my all-time favorite golds, and it’s been discontinued, so having a dupe is excellent.  The texture is so, so soft–the powder of OCC’s Loose Colour Concentrates is extremely finely-milled.  It applies well both wet and dry, and it gets a little smoother and more metallic when applied wet as compared to the dry application.  This shade is lovely with warm browns, coppers, and burgundies.  Triptych wears really well, too, without primer–a solid eight hours without creasing or fading.

OCC Mimosa Loose Colour Concentrate

OCC Mimosa Loose Colour Concentrate ($12.00 for 0.088 oz. / 2.5 grams) is described as a “orange with strong gold shimmer.” It’s a brightened light-medium orange with an orange-gold shimmer and sheen. Milani Primary is darker. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy is fairly similar, but because it doesn’t have a strong gold sheen, it appears a little darker, more yellow-toned. Chanel Tigerlily is a softer, lighter orange.

This was easily one of my favorite shades out of the brand’s recent collection. It’s just such a happy, uplifting kind of color. Whether it’s used dry or wet, it yields opaque color payoff. When it’s applied wet or damp, it darkens slightly–but I appreciated how opaque it was no matter how it was used.  The texture is ultra-finely milled, so it feels soft as silk against the skin, and it applies evenly, smoothly, and blends out beautifully.  I’m always impressed by how well these eyeshadows hold up, even without a primer: a full eight hours with no creasing or fading!

	Mimosa is such a perfect color for the spring/summer, and it's one of the best eyeshadows I've tried from OCC! The texture and color payoff is excellent, and it just applies so easily to the lid.

OCC Foxfire Loose Colour Concentrate ($12.00 for 0.088 oz. / 2.5 grams) is described as a “silvery lime-green shimmer.” It’s a shimmery medium green with yellow undertones. MAC Fresh Flare is darker, less shimmery. Wet ‘n’ Wild Bright Idea is less yellow-toned. MAC Wondergrass is more vibrant and darker.

Applied dry, it’s on the sheerer side, softer in color, and pulls more like a springy yellow-green. When it’s applied wet, it’s much darker and greener. What’s interesting about the difference is that it is almost like having two different colors, because the dry version is only slightly sheer, almost translucent, but much, much lighter.  Perhaps the difference is that it’s light and delicately translucent as compared to sheer in a patchy kind of way.  I love that when you use it damp, the color continues to look that intense once it dries. The texture is soft, finely-milled, and applies smoothly, but it’s the tiniest bit powdery. When I tested it out, it wore for a full eight hours without any fading or creasing.

	This is a great shade for spring and summer; it has a lighter coloring that's perfect for spring but enough vibrancy to take you into summer. It's soft, smooth, and really nice when applied damp. The color stays rich and intense even after it dries down.

OCC Acacia Loose Colour Concentrate

OCC Acacia Loose Colour Concentrate ($12.00 for 0.088 oz. / 2.5 grams) is described as a “yellow with blue-green duochrome.” It’s a light-medium gold with yellow-brown undertones and a subtle green duochrome. The duochrome is hard to catch except at just the right angles. It can be really pretty when you do catch it, though. Bare Escentuals Remix is a bit darker, more golden, and has no duochrome. MAC Treasure Hunt is paler, less yellow. Bare Escentuals Standing O is paler. Urban Decay Eldorado is darker and has no duochrome. MAC Gorgeous Gold is the closest shade I could think of, as it also has a green-ish duochrome, though it appears a little more golden with less brown in it.

Acacia has a soft, finely-milled texture that applies smoothly and evenly both wet and dry. I get about the same color payoff either way (which is good), but the metallic finish comes forth when it is applied dampened. When I wore this on the lid, it lasted a full eight hours without creasing or fading.  I don’t normally like using loose eyeshadows, but I’ve been loving the feel and application of OCC’s spring/summer shades.  I only wish the duochrome in this shade was more pronounced; I thought it might come out by wearing a green eyeshadow next to it (Foxfire), but it didn’t seem to help.
