NYX Violetta Eyeshadow ($5.00 for 0.088 oz.) is a gold shimmered pink-purple with a satiny sheen. The color payoff is good, so it turns out mostly opaque, but the shimmer is more sparkled on top than it is truly embedded with the color, so it does result in some fall out. It reminded me a little of MAC Half-Wild when really sheered out, though darker. Urban Decay Purple Haze is fairly similar with a matte finish and more purple in it.
Because it is a brighter purple, despite the red undertones, it should translate into a bruise on the lid, though you’ll want to be careful on what you pair it with. The texture is a little powdery with the loose sparkle adding a slight grittiness to the overall feel. I’m not keen on this type of finish, because it is prone to fall out. If you like the effect, I recommend using a sticker (more like a cream) base, and then press the product on, rather than sweeping or tapping. Like other NYX eyeshadows, it doesn’t hold up all day on its own (looks a bit faded, slightly creased after six hours) but is better over a primer (no fading or creasing but there was continued fall out).
I like where they were going with the color, but the execution could be better. I think the sparkle should bind better with the eyeshadow itself, so that fall out is less of an issue.

Surprisingly, the shade holds it own in a sea of sky blues, because it’s darker than most sky blues (which tend to have an airy, ethereal blue quality to them) but not vibrant enough to be similar to brighter blues. The lightness in the color with the matte finish does give the texture a chalky feel, and the texture is more powdery compared to other NYX eyeshadows. It’s very soft and powdery, so while it blends easily, it fades and sheers out just as easily. When worn, even over a primer, I felt it had faded a bit after six hours of wear. Without a base, it doesn’t crease (probably because of the drier texture!) but does look faded after four hours or so.
The color was surprisingly unique from many other sky blues I've come across, but the texture is powdery, making it somewhat sheer when applied, and it fades before the day is over.

NYX Orange Eyeshadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is tangerine orange with a lighter peach-orange shimmer. The finish is more of a frosted, but it doesn’t read heavy. It’s a very wearable orange because of the softness in the color. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find a dupe among all of these orange eyeshadows. Givenchy Candide Garden was the closest but still darker. Most shades that were in similar in lightness had a pink-tone or really gold sheen (think MAC Melon).
The color is true-to-pan and opaque on the skin, while the texture is dense, buttery, and very soft without being powdery or loose (which is probably the most common issue of NYX’s eyeshadow line–but many shades are just fine, such as this one). Without a base, this shade wore for seven hours, but with a base, I had no wear problems after eight hours. This is definitely one of the better NYX eyeshadows I’ve tried, and personally, I’m always in awe when I can’t think of dupes for a shade!

It looks similar to how it does in the pan, actually–you can see a fair amount of white pearl in the eyeshadow from the get-go, which is what gives it that softer, light color. I like the muted quality of the shade, and it would work for someone who’s a little less fearless when it comes to color! What I didn’t like was the sparkly grit to it, which made it less lovely to use, as it tended to fall out underneath the eye. It could be more pigmented, too — you can see it’s not fully opaque and even in the swatch. When I tested Seafoam Green, it wore for six hours before it started to fade somewhat without a base, but it seemed fine after eight hours when applied over an eyeshadow base.
It's actually a good dupe for MAC Aquadisiac, and I like the texture and payoff of this shade better, so if you're always had an eye on that one, you may like this one more! For $5.00, I think it's good, but in the grand scheme of things, it's an average eyeshadow.

NYX Hot Yellow Eyeshadow ($5.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a pale, pastel-like yellow with a frosted sheen. It has decent color payoff, but it’s not as dense as some other NYX eyeshadows. It also felt powderier and was less true-to-pan in terms of color; it looks much lighter, which could be a result of the higher pearl/frost content. Make Up For Ever #102 is a bit more pastel and has a matte finish. MAC Gorgeous Gold is a little yellower and has more iridescence.
While the texture was undeniably soft, it had a definite powdery feel that wasn’t easy to mitigate, even knowing that NYX’s eyeshadows are softer (compared to say MAC eyeshadows, which tend to be harder–not necessarily a bad thing!), so there was some fall out. The color payoff could have been better, too, because it had an underlying sheerness and the softness of the shade, while providing for a smooth look, made it just as easy to blend out the color so it looked almost faded. Without a base, this shade lasts four to five hours and then begins to look noticeably faded. With a base, I had better results, though after nine hours, it did seem a bit faded.
If you were looking for an intense yellow, you won't find it in Hot Yellow--it's much more muted and less yellow than it appears in the pan. The powderiness makes for below average wear between the fading and fall out, so it's definitely not a must-have NYX eyeshadow.

NYX Kiss in Casablanca Eyeshadow ($5.00 for 0.09 oz.) is an ocean blue with a soft, frosted finish. What I love about this particular shade of blue is the overall soft, muted quality to it, but it hasn’t diminished the quiet vibrancy of the color at all. It’s like a mix of MAC Freshwater and MAC Deep Truth. MAC Pure Creation is a bit similar, too.
The eyeshadow has a really soft, powdery quality that can result in fall out if you aren’t aware of it (I also think you end up with more product than you need for application, because a little goes a long way). It has great color payoff and melts against skin for a really smooth result. NYX says these will wear “for many hours,” though I will say they tend to look faded after six or seven hours if used without a base. This particular shade I didn’t have any fading issues with when I used it over an eyeshadow base.
All in all, this is a really nice budget-friendly blue that packs plenty of color! If you're a fan of blues, this is worth a look, because I think that slightly soft color is hard to find.
