Hair How-to

Frederic Fekkai Lead Stylist Didier Malige was inspired by the aesthetic of the collection, which is vibrant and romantic. Drawing from the Victorian era with a slightly street-wise, savage take – Havisham meets John’s Singer Sargent’s ‘A Parisian Beggar Girl’– the hair mirrors the juxtaposition between precious and casual couture. The look is daring – for the girl that is a risk taker, savvy and is full of texture, yet very romantic.

Didier applied Fekkai Coiff Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray heavily throughout dry hair. He then blow dried the front of the hair, forming finger-waves to add a defined shape and frame the face. By securing the front pieces with pins, he was able to hand-dry the rest of the hair to enhance the natural texture. Once dried, he added a little bit of a more exaggerated wave throughout the hair by using a 1 1/4 inch curling iron on random pieces. Lastly, he backcombed the hair to achieve the exact feel of a slightly tousled, intended messy ‘do. The look was secured with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray to keep it light and airy.

Get the look straight off the runway from last night’s Richie Rich Fall 2011 Collection Show! This eventful evening (which was open to the public for the first time ever!) was filled with surprises and excitement, and all for a great cause: proceeds from the show went to Dosomething.org and CookiesforKidsCancer.org. The models strutted their stuff in vibrant colors which lit up the stage and sported different hairdo’s which each told a story of their own. Below please find the one-of-a-kind looks that rocked the runway last night – created and styled by Edward Tricomi and the Warren-Tricomi team.

Hair How-to

  • Finger Waves: Part hair to desired side. Apply a non-flaky gel throughout the hair from root to end and comb through. Brush hair back away from the face. Using your fingers, create waves with the side pieces of hair, spraying it with hairspray to make sure the waves stay intact and using long hair clips to hold in place. Create waves until you reach the nape of the next, about 3 inches down from the ears. Take the loose hair and twist into a flat bun and secure with pins. Do this throughout the entire head. Keep the hair clips in the hair until the gel dries, then remove. Spray with a glitter spray to finish the look.
  • Punk Glam: Part hair into three sections (two sides and middle). Then separate the middle section into top and bottom. Clip the top middle section up and let it sit while you start working on the sides. Part sides of hair into three sections, creating six sections in total. French braid the two face framing sections and secure with a rubber band and let it hand loose. French braid the remaining sections and twist all ends together to form a bun and secure with pins. Take the top middle section and tease it making sure to spray lots of hair spray.
  • Teased Tresses: First set 1 inch sections of hair in hot rollers. Let it sit for approximately 30 minutes then let out. Next spray the hair throughout with a strong hold hairspray, such as L’oreal Professional Textureline Infinium 3 – Strong Hold Professional Hairspray. Then, tease the entire head with a fine toothed comb until you reach your desired volume. Take sections of hair from the crown and twist and pull back into different directions forming a high ponytail. This is a look that you can have fun with and create different variations.
