NARS Trouville Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “seashell pink.” It’s a soft pink with a hint of coral and yellow undertones. It’s nearly opaque in two coats–under diffused flash, there’s faint visible nail line, but in studio lighting, I couldn’t tell it wasn’t 100% opaque. OCC Femme is a yellow-toned pink, but it’s a bit pinker and has shimmer. Chanel Mistral is also a yellow-toned pink but darker, pinker, and has shimmer. Chanel Morning is the closest in tone, but it’s darker.
The consistency of Trouville was just slightly thicker than ideal, but it applied fairly evenly and easily. Each coat takes a little longer to dry, and if you go too quickly, you risk pulling up the color of the first coat a bit. I think this is a really lovely choice for spring and summer; it’s warm, breezy, and feminine without being too pastel or too bright. I could see this working well on toes, too! I’ve had excellent luck with NARS’ formula–it wears like iron and lasts a full seven days without chipping.

NARS Night Rider Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft plum with silver glitter.” It’s a pink-plum with silver glitter–but the way the glitter sits against the pink-plum makes it appear almost like a really pale, silvered lilac. I couldn’t think of any good dupes for it, but Nubar Treasure Nail (darker purple) and Milani Hi-Res (holographic, darker) were the closest–I wouldn’t say they’re close, though.
Night Rider is opaque in two coats and requires no patience at all during application, because the formula balances consistency with pigmentation, so it applies evenly, fluidly, and without a hitch. I typically get a week of wear out of NARS’ formula with minor tip wear but no chipping. I’m not unforgiving to my nails, but I don’t make any attempts to preserve a manicure, so I definitely use my nails as tools!
If you loved the way the other Night shades looked but felt they were just too dark, Night Rider gives you the same fun finish and nuance with a more spring-friendly color.

NARS Night Porter Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “black with green pearls.” The base is definitely very dark, more like deep, dark forest green, but there is a lot of emerald green, olive green, and copper-gold shimmer, so it ends up looking like a very dark, sleek forest green with multi-colored shimmer. China Glaze Glittering Garland is more of an emerald green with more yellow undertones. Zoya Edyta is similar but has more of a metallic finish. Nubar Verde is similar but, again, has a metallic finish, which gives it a much more reflective sheen. The shimmer in the previously two mentioned shades is larger, not as fine as in Night Porter.
Like the other shades in the series, Night Porter is richly pigmented–almost opaque in one coat–and needs two coats for full color coverage. It does dry down to a semi-matte finish, so I’ would recommend using a shiny top coat to achieve that glossy finish. NARS’ polishes typically wear a week on me with minor tip wear and no chipping. I was so impressed with how fluidly Night Porter applied; the polish glided across the nail surface and gave great, even coverage.

NARS Night Breed Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described simply as “black with silver glitter.” It’s a deep black with silver shimmer and sparkle that’s opaque in two coats (but one coat packs quite a punch of pigmentation). I don’t have anything quite like this. I think the closest shade I could think of was China Glaze Tinsel Town, but it has a lot more silver glitter and shimmer, so it looks more silver than it does black. China Glaze Stone Cold has more uniform and smaller-sized shimmer, plus it has a matte finish.
NARS nailed the formula of their Night Series shades–the color coverage is fantastic, the shades are nuanced, and they even dry faster than most polishes. It does dry down to a flatter finish, so a shiny top coat is a must if you prefer a glossy finish. The wear of NARS polishes is remarkably good–minor tip wear and no chipping after seven days. The application was easy and required no special effort; Night Breed had a good consistency–not too thick or too thin–that yielded even color without streaking.
Night Breed is a high-end polish that's worth it--the formula is flawless: rich in color, easy application, and long-wear. I also love that they didn't skimp on the quantity, because you're getting as much polish as the average polish has (0.50 fl. oz.). Too many high-end brands squeeze on both price and quantity!

NARS Night Flight Nail Lacquer($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “black with cobalt blue pearls.” It’s a new and limited edition shade from the Night Series. The coverage is fantastic–I used two coats, but it was 80% opaque with one coat. The formula is that perfect blend of thick and thin that allows for even flow across the nail bed without causing drag or patchiness. It’s a blackened-navy blue base with silver and navy blue shimmer. It is similar to MAC Biker Blue, though NARS’ formula is better (more opaque) and has a more muted appearance.
If you like a shiny finish to your polishes, you’ll definitely want to use a top coat here, because these dry to a remarkably low-shine finish. NARS’ polishes wear well on me, and I have no issues with chipping over a week–just minor tip wear, which is expected given I type all day (and I have absolutely no regard for my nails; I’ll happily pry something open with them).
The formula was flawless--so easy to apply, rich in color, and doesn't bubble or streak. It's such a dark shade that it should work on both cool and warm skin tones.

NARS Galion Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “stormy grey.” It’s a rich, creamy navy-tinged, blackened gray. I achieved opaque color in just two coats, and there was no streaking, bubbling, or difficulty in applying the shade onto my nails. The formula flowed evenly without being too thick or thin. This shade looks really crisp on the nails, and despite my nails being too long, it still seems to work on me. I typically get a week of wear with NARS’ nail polishes.
It’s a little bluer-based (but still very similar) to China Glaze Concrete Catwalk. The way it looks is reminiscent of Zoya Kelly, but they are not dupes–Kelly is much lighter but of the same hue.
