2010 Oscars

Jennifer Lopez @ 2010 Oscars

Jennifer Lopez @ 2010 Academy Awards

I love her makeup!  It’s nothing we haven’t seen before, but I still love how it looks on her.

Makeup How-to

“Based on her dress, I wanted to create an ethereal movie-star look. I kept the cheekbones high and highlighted with the NARS Enchanted Cream Blush for a soft and supportive look.” –Matthew Vanleeuween for NARS Cosmetics

Jennifer Lopez wore the following products to achieve a soft, yet radiant look:

  • Orgasm illuminator
  • Enchanted Cream Blush (NEW for Summer 2010; try Gueule de Nuit Cream Blush for a similar effect)
  • Desire Blush
  • Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (NEW for Summer 2010, Available May 1st)
  • D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow
  • Brousse Duo Eyeshadow
  • Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
  • Cruising Lipstick
  • Sweet Dreams Lip Gloss

Hair How-to

Jennifer Lopez was dazzling on the Oscar red carpet, wearing a beautiful Armani Prive dress, accented by an elegantly texturized updo created by master stylist Robert Vetica. The look was very modern and sophisticated.

To create the style, Vetica started by applying Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream on wet hair to create smoothness and shine. After blowdrying hair straight he sectioned hair off and created two ponytails, an inch apart, one on top of the other to create volume below the crown of the head.

Next, Vetica used a curling iron on each ponytail to create texture, and then brushed them out for width and volume. After creating the shape of the updo, he strategically pulled out stands throughout the look to create a modern textured effect using flyaways around the forehead to further soften. He then finished with new argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray.

2010 Oscars

Sandra Bullock @ 2010 Oscars

Sandra Bullock @ 2010 Academy Awards

I love this dress… definitely one of my favorites of the night.  I can’t tell if the lipstick is fuchsia-red or maybe just fuchsia.

Makeup How-to

“Tonight was Sandra’s big night and she was in a happy, ethereal mood. I wanted her to look like the true movie star she is, so we went with modern classy Hollywood – dewy skin, soft eyes, and a bold classic red lip.” — Angela Levin

Angela prepped Sandra’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid. She then used a foundation brush to apply CHANEL Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup in Shell all over the face. Angela created a structured brow with the soft brown powder in the limited edition Les Regards de CHANEL Palette. She lined Sandra’s eyes with the darker brown shade in the same palette.

Finally, she applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir for sexy, glamorous lashes. To create the real focus of Sandra’s look – a gorgeous, bold red lip – Angela applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris. She finished the look by gently dabbing a bit of the same lip colour on the apples of Sandra’s cheeks – Angela’s signature makeup trick.

Hair How-to

INSPIRATION: Abergel wanted to bring back simplicity, with Sandra’s sleek and straight down-do. The strong side part created beautiful lines to compliment her dress. He modernized the texture of the hair by creating a sleek look, with a slight wave at the end.

Conditioned hair is very important for any sleek style. Abergel used FEKKAI ADVANCED GLOSSING SHAMPOO AND CONDITONER, leaving the conditioner on for 15 minutes. He then rinsed and towel dried the hair. Then he parted the hair in a deep side part. Adir recommends following the arch of your brow to choose where to part your hair. He then took a large FEKKAI ROUND BRUSH and blow-dried the hair completely straight, making sure the roots were flat. Then spray with FEKKAI SHEER HOLD HAIRSPRAY to 2” sections of hair from roots to the end and use a flat iron to get a bone straight effect. To finish the look, Abergel took a 1 1/4” inch curling iron and lightly curled the ends of the hair for a nice slight wave and tucked the bangs behind the ear. To complete the look he added the FEKKAI SILKY STRAIGHT IRONLESS SMOOTH FINISH SERUM to create a sleek finish.

2010 Oscars

Amanda Seyfried @ 2010 Oscars

Amanda Seyfried @ 2010 Academy Awards

All I can think about is:  “How on earth is she going to sit down in that dress?”  Which really just shows you how little I know about fashion!

Makeup How-to

“The look I was going for Amanda was movie star glamour while maintaining a young, fresh and modern feel.” — Monika Blunder

For Amanda’s skin, Monika started off moisturizing her with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid to give her a natural glow. Then she applied CHANEL Teint Innocence Foundation in Gentle Ivory all over her skin. Monika first lined her upper and lower lash line with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir, extending the line past the outer corner and up. Then she blended with a brush to soften any hard lines. Next, she applied the darkest colour in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes starting at lash line and blending up towards the brow bone using a variation of the lighter colors in the palette. She finished with CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Ivory on the inner corner of top and bottom lash line. To complete the eyes, she curled the lashes and applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir.

CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale gave her a fresh rosy glow on her cheeks. Amanda’s look was completed by applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Perle.

Hair How-to

Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant, is sharing his styling secrets to get Oscar presenter Amanda Seyfried’s cool, understated look with easy-to-use tips and tricks.

Harry gave Amanda the new Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner in advance as the frizz-fighting formula was essential to smooth and hydrate dry strands and replenish moisture for a nice, smooth blow out.

“These shampoos and conditioners were the perfect way for Amanda to prep her hair,” said Harry. “The look was flat, clean and sleek, so it was important to start the fight against frizz early so that Amanda’s hair would be silky, shiny and totally manageable.”

Harry applied the new Root Awakening Strength Restoring Gel to Amanda’s hair at the roots to help achieve the sleek, flattened shape he was going for. Using a tail comb instead of a round brush to avoid lift, Harry blew the hair out, combing it flat to the head as he dried. Harry then used the Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Shape & Shimmer Hairspray section by section to hold the style.

“Amanda has such beautiful naturally blonde hair that I wanted to ensure it looked its best all night and didn’t photograph dark – which some finishing sprays can cause. By using a light hairspray you avoid adding residue or darkening the blonde hair.”

Harry finished by creating an extreme, slick side part and pulling Amanda’s hair back into a bun. He left a little bit of the bun sticking out in a fan, a last minute decision he made to reflect the pattern on Amanda’s earrings.

She looks so, so classic.  Loving how lush her upper lashes look.

Hair How-to

TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak has provided simple how-to’s on how to get Zoe’s super-chic up-do: “We wanted to to have an editorial look because she was wearing Givenchy. We also didn’t want the hair and make up to compete with the dress so we created an elegant but effortless look.”

Apply TRESemmé Naturals Lightweight Mousse all over damp hair and blow dry away from the face with volume, flipping head upside down when the hair is almost dry to finish. Separate the crown from the rest of the hair and pull back sides and back into a tight ponytail. Pull the hair almost all the way through, leaving the ends tucked into the pony tail holder to create a half bun shape. Let a few pieces in the back fall out for a messier look. Tease the top of the hair, pull back to meet the back and pin, criss-crossing the bobby pins for a secure hold. Spray all over with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hair Spray. Spray hairspray on finger tips and gently pull the hair around the face with your fingers to loosen the hair, giving it an organic effortless look.

2010 Oscars

Anna Kendrick @ 2010 Oscars

Anna Kendrick @ 2010 Academy Awards

Ohh, I really love this dress! It’s so feminine and elegant–the way it opens is beautiful.  Her makeup suits it as well; it’s noticeable but not overwhelming.

Makeup Breakdown

Celebrity makeup artist Sarah Glick was inspired by, “Youthful, ethereal beauty–think soft, natural glowing skin.”

  • Prep: “Anna has beautiful skin and doesn’t need much to make it glow. I prepped her skin with a light, all natural moisturizer to help it stay hydrated throughout the night.” Prepped with Arcona’s Magic White Ice to protect, nourish and hydrate skin. Magic White Ice. “Anna has amazing youthful, flawless skin, so it is all about revealing her natural beauty. I used TEMPTU RETOUCH highlighter in Champagne to eyelids, cheeks, nose and any other planes that pick up light to highlight, ” says Glick.
  • Cheeks: “For a natural flush, I accented Anna’s cheek bones with a coral shade.” Dabbed and blended tarte’s natural cheek stain in eco-cheek on the apples of her cheeks.
  • Lips: “I wanted to create a soft, healthy pink lip with a touch of shine. LipSurgence natural lip stain in charmed topped with tarte’s double-ended natural lipglosses in jake & samantha (used the Samantha side–pale cotton candy pink) for added shine.
  • Finish: “I finished with a light spritz of lavender mist for added hydration and an extra dose of calming with aromatherapy.” Set the look with Arcona’s Lavendar Hydrasol for a fresh and dewy complexion.

Hair How-to

Anna Kendrick wore a romantic blush-colored Eli Saab gown on the Oscar red carpet, complimented by an effortlessly elegant, modern updo designed by stylist Craig Gangi.

Gangi, inspired by the graceful off-the-shoulder look, created an updo highlighting softly waved texture accenting healthy hair with natural-looking shine. He first applied argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to add moisture and give hair a soft hold that was smooth as well as frizz-free and static-free.

After blow-drying hair straight, Gangi used a medium sized curling iron to create loose, natural waves. He then pulled strands back, leaving just enough hair at the nape of the neck to create a small ponytail, and shaped a loose, undone textured bun.

To add a touch of drama, he went back to weave three small braids with the remaining hair, then again braided the three with each other. Finally he circled the braid around the bun. After pinning the style, he sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to hold the look in place without stiffness, and misted the final updo with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for additional boost of red carpet shine.
