Purples can be tricky, but Make Up For Ever managed to produce a lavender that applies fully opaque with little effort. It’s nicely pigmented, buildable, and blendable–so long as you work quickly as the Aqua Cream formula, while it lasts and lasts, sets within thirty seconds (or less) and once set, does not want to move. Sometimes I find applying a thin layer, lightly blending the edges, and then working with other colors in the same fashion is more practical; and after I’ve gotten the basic shape and color scheme going, I apply another thin layer on on the colors I want more opaque. #54 wore like iron for twelve hours; no creasing, smudging, budging, or fading during the entire time I tested it.
It does set quickly, so work one eye at a time and build up the color in layers for best results! It is very pigmented, and it can be used as a cream eyeshadow, eyeliner, or as a base.

The consistency is lightweight, creamy, not too thick or too thin, and can be applied as a sheer wash or layered for more opaque color. It dries down quickly (between fifteen and thirty seconds), so I recommend working quickly and blending any edges as you go to avoid it becoming unmovable! Once it dries down, it isn’t going to go anywhere (I tested it for twelve hours); no smudging, budging, or creasing from there on.
What's nice about this particular shade is its lightness, which allows you to use it in many ways - to brighten eyes, make other eyeshadows pop, or blended as a wash.

#52 is very pigmented, but it is also buildable, depending on how much product you apply. It starts off with a creamy, glide-on consistency that remains blendable for fifteen to thirty seconds (so work quickly). Once it sets, it doesn’t budge, smudge, or move–it won’t blend, either, if you wait too long. I recommend applying in thin layers to build up the color to avoid potentially applying too much, because it can sometimes clump in places if applied too heavily (making your eyelids look dry and flaky). I tested #52 for twelve hours, and I didn’t experience any fading, smudging, or creasing during that time.
It does set quickly, so work one eye at a time and build up the color in layers for best results! It is very pigmented, and it can be used as a cream eyeshadow, eyeliner, or as a base.

Make Up For Ever #26 Aqua Cream ($23.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “violet sheen.” This is a rich, vibrant red-toned violet purple with a satiny sheen. When it’s sheered out, it has a much pinker appearance (but still very purple), while when it’s applied more opaquely, it’s a rich violet. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm is less red-toned. MAC Plush is less violet. MAC Violet is purpler, lighter. MAC Shock-a-holic is fairly close. Urban Decay Purple Haze resembles the sheer swatch. Inglot #439 is slightly purpler.
I was extremely surprised at how pigmented this shade was, because purple eyeshadows are absolutely notorious for poor color payoff! It doesn’t matter the brand–so many of them are lacking, but #26 is incredibly rich in pigment. You don’t need a lot of product to get opaque color, and if you want a really sheer layer of color, it’s possible–just make sure to use the barest amount and blend out. Like other shades in the Aqua Cream formula, it dries pretty quickly, so I advise working one eye at the time when it comes to blending out harsh edge. Once it sets, it’s there for good–I’ve had shades wear for as long as fourteen hours (I don’t usually test a single product that long). #26 wore for a full eight hours when I tested it alone on bare lids.
This will make an awesome base for all of your favorite purple eyeshadows, especially any shade that suffers from sheerness! The Aqua Cream formula is great for a long-wearing cream eyeshadow or liner.

There’s something about this color that makes it just a little different from the many other sky blue eyeshadows I’ve come across. There’s an iciness–an overall coolness–in it that doesn’t turn it silver or white, but it’s still there. It’s not as soft or as light as a really pastel, sky blue shade would be. You can apply it as opaque as you’d like, you can use an itty bitty amount of product to get a sheer layer of product, or you can apply an opaque layer of color–these go on more opaque than not, but if you want sheer color, you’d deliberately apply very little and blend out right away. The finish on this particular shade is very high in frost content, so it can look more reflective as a result.
The texture is creamy but thick. Because of the frosted finish, it seemed to dry down a little quicker than other Aqua Creams, but even with the less frosted finishes, it’s the kind of product that’s better to work with one eye at a time if you’re trying to apply several of them or need to do a lot of blending. If I use it as a base, I can blend out any edges without too much hurrying, but if I’m trying to blend two of these together, I work one eye at a time. I love the Aqua Cream formula, because it’s long-wearing, waterproof, and extremely pigmented. I don’t have any problems with creasing, fading, or smudging, whether I use it alone, sheered out, as a base, or over primer.

The texture of Aqua Creams is creamy, slightly thick, and pretty opaque from the get-go. You don’t need a lot of product to get an even, opaque layer of coverage, but it is possible to sheer out the color to more of a semi-opaque look if so desired. Aqua Creams are, as touted, long-wearing, waterproof, and intensely pigmented. It’s a formula that dries down fairly quickly and then stays and stays and stays. It doesn’t budge, smudge, or fade at all during the day. They can work alone, as eyeshadow bases, or as eyeliners (some shades are designed for lips/cheeks and not eyes, however, so you’d use those as lip/cheek products!).
I love the the intensity of this shade; it’s really vibrant without being neon. It’s warm without venturing into goldenrod/orange-territory, but it’s warm enough that it’s a yellow that can be worn more easily, since it won’t look sallow against the skin.
