MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl oz.) is described as a “hot pink.” It’s a brightened medium pink, kind of strawberry-pink like, with subtle yellow undertones. It’s not quite bright enough to be a true hot pink–at least not on lips, though it’s brighter in the tube than on. MAC Please Me is lighter, while Illamasqua Indulge is darker and brighter.
The color coverage is mostly opaque with a little translucency here and there. It does settle into lip lines somewhat. Lipglasses feel a little thick, and they are definitely tacky, so they are not everyone’s cup of tea. They are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste. Viva Glam Nicki lasted five hours on me. It’s a little lighter, not quite as yellow-toned, as its lipstick counterpart. Since it’s been awhile, and I did want to show the gloss layered over the lipstick, I also included standalone lipstick swatches as well as the two layered.
MAC fan or not, Nicki Minaj fan or not, MAC’s Viva Glam campaign helps fund an organization that does a whole lotta good–the MAC AIDS Fund. Every cent of the selling price of Viva Glam products goes towards MAF. From the press kit they currently have available on their website, they were heading towards a $250 million goal for this past July–but as of February 2012, they had raised $235 million from the Viva Glam Lipstick and Lipglass shades. 100% of the sale price–not proceeds, profits, or an ambiguous figure–every cent. MAF provides financial support to organizations across the world to provide a range of services that include preventative care for HIV/AIDS as well as care for those with HIV/AIDS.

MAC Viva Glam is one of the best campaigns I've seen by a beauty brand. It's not a fad but a true cause that the brand supports fully. If this shade isn't for you, consider one of the many other shades available!

Sometimes products are discontinued or limited edition, which means that a product may no longer be available at one or more retailers so you may need to shop around for those hard-to-find shades! We try to update products as they become discontinued, and if you discover a product has been discontinued, please help us help others by letting us know.

For the holidays, a limited edition Sir Teddy is available in his big boy form and a smaller, keychain size. The larger size is 6″ by 4″ ($15.00), while the smaller version is 3.5″ by 2.5″ ($12.00) and has a keychain clip attached. The larger Sir Teddy’s arms and legs are movable. The toy is actually made in connection with Gund.
The proceeds from the sale of the teddy bears go towards MAC’s Kids Helping Kids program, which focuses on supporting children affected by HIV/AIDS. I’m a big supporter of MAC’s Viva Glam program because of the amount of money donated to the cause–it’s not a measly 10%–they make it count.
There really is nothing to review here! They’re cute little bears, and they do make good gifts that don’t break the bank. I like the idea of giving these to any kids you’re gifting this holiday season, but I bought one of each size for myself! They also have Kids Helping Kids Holiday Cards ($8.00) and Gift Tags ($8.00) available.

At the end of the day, Viva Glam is about promoting awareness about HIV/AIDS and celebrities are a great way to draw attention to the cause and encourage people to purchase one of the many shades of Viva Glam lipstick and lipgloss–all of which go towards the MAC AIDS Fund.

Here is the transcript of Temptalia’s interview with Dita Von Teese.
I want to give a huge thank you to Heather at MAC for allowing Temptalia to have the opportunity of not just meeting, but interviewing Dita Von Teese! Girl, you know I love you!
Christine: I run a beauty blog, so basically I’m going to ask you some beauty questions.
Dita: Okay, okay.
Christine: I want to know how do you keep your skin so perfect?
Dita: Well, I use sunscreen religiously. But not in a psychotic manner! I know there were a lot of tabloid stories going around about me traveling with sunscreen curtains and everything. All this crazy, like, that I have a diet to keep my skin white. None of that’s true – it’s basic sunscreen, it’s what everybody should do, even if they don’t want to be as pale as me. It’s important to use sunscreen, so that’s my number one. Getting my beauty sleep is my number two, sleep makes a big difference in how my skin looks.
Christine: I noticed you’re wearing very, very high heels. How do you survive heels that high? What’s your secret?
Dita: My secret is staying in good shape. I think that I’m always, I work out a lot, and it’s not really just so my body looks a certain way. I feel stronger even walking in heels. I just feel more powerful and strong when I’m in good shape, and that’s one thing, and buying good quality shoes helps you support you.
Thanks to MAC Cosmetics, Temptalia went backstage at Macy’s Passport 2007 (San Francisco) to interview the very sultry Dita Von Teese, international queen of burlesque. Check out this unedited 15-minute interview with this gorgeous Viva Glam spokesperson!
Dita Von Teese is an absolute doll; she’s terribly nice, and there are these quirks and mannerisms that remind you she’s human, friendly, and so down to earth. It is definitely a great way to put a first-timer (myself) at ease straight away in the interviewing process. She laughs often, and it’s easy to see she enjoys everything she does – her life is what she wants it to be. It is impossible not to admire someone with this kind of attitude in life, plus, she’s accomplished it.
We can’t wait to see more of Miss Teese in the future!
P.S. – This is my first interview, so excuse my “ums” on occasion. The transcript is available here.
