MAC Eyeshadow Swatches – Neutrals (Part 2)

More neutral MAC Eyeshadows! There will be one more set of neutrals, and then I only have the grays/blacks after that.

Grain is a soft, warm beige with a satin finish. It’s like a lighter version of MAC Arena.
Orb is a soft, pink-peach with a satin finish. It is pinker than Urban Decay Virgin. It is similar to Inglot #397, but it has a softer look and therefore looks darker/more pigmented.
Naked Lunch is a warm, peach-beige with a frost finish. Chanel Emerveille is similar in color.
Hush is a peach-pink with a subtle iridescence and frost finish.
Jest is a light-medium peach with a frost finish. theBalm Luscious Lani is a touch lighter.
Say Yeah is an apricot pink with a golden shimmer-sheen. It has a veluxe pearl finish, and it was a limited edition shade.
Ricepaper is a soft, warm yellow champagne with a frost finish. Inglot #393 is the closest but it has a more reflective finish.
Retrospeck is a paled gold with a lustre finish. It has a slightly gritty texture. Milani Beach Sand is slightly similar.
Femme-fi is a warm, yellow-toned white with a veluxe pearl finish. theBalm Devilish Danielle is similar, slightly more reflective.

Hush has sheerer color than one would expct, while Retrospeck has glitter in it, so it has a grittier texture and is prone to fall out. The other shades were true-to-color with good color payoff and smooth textures overall.

This was my FIRST smokey eye ever! It’s from December 2005, and looking at the photos makes me kind of itch to re-try it, actually! I think this was actually the first look I ever did a tutorial for, too. What was your first smokey eye like?

Used: Silver pigment on lid, Black Tied e/s on outer corner and crease, Say Yeah! e/s from crease to brow..

It’s fun to go back in time and look at how you’ve improved. One thing I really like about looking at looks I did a long time ago is to see what color combinations I used. Sometimes I still find some that I like! Case in point, even though my style has evolved from the presentation in this look, I am digging the this shade of green with the blue — and I like the blue on the waterline. Why didn’t I note what liner I used? Boo @ me. This look is from January 2006, just to give y’all a frame of reference. It’s over three years later, so hey — like I always tell people, practice, practice, practice!

Used: Golden Olive pigment, Lucky Green e/s in inner lid, Swimming e/s in middle of lid, Humid e/s on outer lid, Velvet Moss e/s on outer lid, Deep Truth e/s in crease, Juxt e/s from crease to brow, and Say Yeah! e/s on brow.

I also managed to stick to mantra of “practical shoes only.” I picked up those Nikes I talked about yesterday, and they are ridiculously comfortable. If they stay super comfy, I will definitely pick up a second pair (since they’re on sale) for when I’m through with these. (I’m one of those people who will stock up on their “staple” shoes, LOL; because you never know when they’ll be discontinued or whatever!)

P.S. – That $50 gloss I purchased? NARS Orgasm gloss is a very close dupe – it’s not as luxe or as pigmented, but it’ll do when I run out. Nymphette is too light, and it’s not pink enough. Major Minor was nowhere near it.

I used Tea Time pigment (LE) on lid, Say Yeah eyeshadow (LE) on lid, Beautyburst eyeshadow (LE) on middle of lid, Bronze eyeshadow on outer lid, Satin Taupe eyeshadow on outer crease, Femme-fi eyeshadow (LE) on brow to highlight, Rich Ground fluidline on lower lash line and upper lash line, Graphblack technakohl on lower water line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I wore Suncentered Colour Forms Powder (LE) on cheeks. I had Fast Thrill lipstick (LE) with Nymphette lipglass on my lips.

Tea Time = Chocolate Brown; Say Yeah = Motif (works for this look); Beautyburst = Brown Down; Femme-fi = Shroom; Suncentered = Peachykeen; Fast Thrill = Bombshell

I used Mega-Rich pigment (LE) on lid, Goldmine eyeshadow on inner lid, Expensive Pink eyeshadow on middle of lid, Antiqued eyeshadow on outer lid and crease, Goldmine eyeshadow above crease, Say Yeah eyeshadow (LE) on brow, Goldmine eyeshadow on lower lash line, Graphblack technakohl on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I wore Ambering Rose blush on cheeks with Dior Amber Diamond SkinShimmer to highlight. I had Wild ‘Bout You lipstick (LE) with Real Desire lipglass (LE) and Venetian lustreglass on my lips.
