MAC Naturally: Redhead Mineralize Skinfinish

MAC Redhead Mineralize Skinfinish ($28.00 for 0.32 oz.) is described as a “gold to salon pink degrade,” and it’s a limited edition blush/highlighter from MAC’s upcoming Naturally collection. It is a repromote, though, so if you’re an avid mineralize skinfinish collector, you should check your stash first. Like Blonde, there are four (mostly) distinct stripes of color: gilded champagne beige, deepened champagne beige, peachy champagne, and rosy bronze.

When mixed together, the resulting hue is a lightened champagne beige with warm undertones and a nearly metallic finish. It is similar to MAC Belightful. On my skin tone, it adds a light warmth but mostly a shimmer/sheen without too much color. I expect on fairer skin tones, this could work as a very subtle bronzer with a heavy sheen.

The texture of the powder is soft and smooth, but the finish does tend to accentuate pores, skin imperfections, and the skin’s natural texture, so for those who are concerned about pore size, this may not be the right product for you. It’s not the product I’d reach for to look my very, very best in photos, but the effect is still pretty that it might be worth the sacrifice in the appearance of your skin from time to time! When I tested out Redhead for wear, it wore for around six hours before noticeably fading on my normal-to-dry skin.

• Cheeks: Springsheen (soft peach), Redhead mineralize skinfinish (copper-peach)
• Lips: Blow Dry lipstick (sheer coral), Red Devil lipglass (red-coral)

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the lower lid, apply Goldmine eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Henna eyeshadow to the crease, overlapping with the lid. Darken the area just above the crease using 100 Strokes eyeshadow using the 239. Overlay 100 Strokes with Cranberry eyeshadow to increase color depth using the 226. Sweep Femme-fi underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Honey Liner on lower lash line and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Springsheen blush using the 129, then highlight with Redhead MSF using the 165 brush. Apply Blow Dry lipstick to lips, and then top with Red Devil lipglass for color and shine.

When I was fooling around with video a few days ago, I captured Mellan on film It’s kind of cute (I think it’s only funny to me, though). I’m gonna try to capture him another time, but with way better video quality. Too bad he always does silly stuff when I’m not trying.

Sweep apples of cheeks with Fleurry blush and Redhead MSF using the 129. Apply All’s Fair lipstick to lips, and then top with Live and Dye lipglass for color and shine.

Who doesn’t love a Mellan photo? OK, don’t answer that. I ordered a bunch more of the large rawhide holiday bones since they were 50% off. It’s hard to resist the size of these at $5 a pop. He knew exactly what was in the box as soon the UPS man pushed it through the door, ha!

The boy and I will be driving up to his family’s house in a little bit, and we’ll spend our NYE hanging out with them. My plans are pretty tame, but I like them that way. Since I don’t drink, partying tends to be less fun for me (seriously, being sober while everyone else is drunk/buzzed and giggling at inane things… not so fun), so staying in for NYE is exactly my speed.
