The Scarlet Season: MAC Queen’s Sin Lipstick

MAC Queen’s Sin Lipstick ($14.00 for 0.12 oz.) debuted as a limited edition shade in Antiquitease, which was launched in the 2007 holiday season. It’s a stunning shade of brightened up ruby red with a soft frost finish. It applies evenly and opaquely with just two layers, and it hugs lips and ends up having a longer wear-time than the average MAC lipstick. I was really hoping to see MAC release another stunning holiday red this year but no such luck! You can check out some lip color combos I’ve done using Queen’s Sin, if you’re looking for ideas!

Look – Christmas Day Gold and Cranberry Eye

Look for Christmas! I actually ended up removing the lips and going for something more muted, only because I didn’t want that much attention on my lips in pictures/video (yep! my parents still videotape every Christmas morning!).

You will need the following…

Eyes: Golden Lemon pigment (gold), Goldmine eyeshadow (gold), Danger Zone mineralize eyeshadow (red side), Cranberry eyeshadow (berry), Nylon eyeshadow (gold-toned highlighter), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner (gold), Plushlash mascara (black)
Cheeks: Margin blush (dirty pink)
Lips: Queen’s Sin lipstick (red), Cult of Cherry lipglass (red)
Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
Substitutes: Danger Zone = Coppering; Queen’s Sin = Russian Red; Cult of Cherry = Russian Red

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Golden Lemon pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the lid, apply Goldmine eyeshadow using the 239. Darken the outer lid using Danger Zone (red side) and drag into crease using the 239. Darken crease with Cranberry eyeshadow using the 239. Sweep Nylon underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Margin blush using the 129. Apply Queen’s Sin lipstick to lips, and then top with Cult of Cherry lipglass for color and shine.

Look – Bright Red Holiday Lips

This is a super quick look from a week or two ago–it was actually not so great looking in person, LOL. Why? Because I discovered the foundation I used was too dark on me, and I was plagued by the dreaded orange face!! I was soo embarrassed. I gotta get a lighter shade of Select Tint, because NC35 (which I bought in the summer) is ridiculously too dark for me. I didn’t realize my skin tone had lightened so much this winter.

You will need the following…

Eyes: Ricepaper eyeshadow (soft highlighter), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner, Graphblack technakhol (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
Cheeks: Givenchy Euphoric Orange blush (soft peach)
Lips: Queen’s Sin lipstick (red), Cult of Cherry lipglass (red)
Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
Substitutes: Queen’s Sin = Russian Red; Cult of Cherry = Russian Red

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Lightly sweep Ricepaper eyeshadow all over lid. Apply Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner on lower lash line and mix a little Graphblack technakohl with it. Add Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Euphoric Orange blush using the 129. Apply Queen’s Sin lipstick to lips, and then top with Cult of Cherry lipglass for color and shine.

I used Uppity fluidline on lid, Daisychain eyeshadow on inner lid, Goldmine eyeshadow on middle of lid, Coppering eyeshadow on outer lid, Passionate eyeshadow on outer lid, Antiqued eyeshadow on outer crease, Goldmine eyeshadow above crease, Daisychain eyeshadow on brow, Goldmine eyeshadow on lower lashline, and Feline kohl power on lower lash line. I wore Margin blush with Peach Haze beauty powder to highlight and Sculpt sculpting powder to contour. I had Queen’s Sin lipstick with Red Romp lipglass on my lips.
