MAC Archie’s Girls Pearlglide Eyeliners ($16.50 for 0.04 oz.) includes four shades: Black Swan (black with gold pearl), Designer Purple (violet with pearl), Lord It Up (bronze with pearl), and Petrol Blue (deep navy with pearl). Also, all of these shades are part of the permanent range, so if you don’t care about special packaging, you can grab the permanent version (standard black packaging) for $15.00–$1.50 less.
There are (at present) some stocking issues, as both Black Swan and Lord It Up are missing-in-action. They were up briefly, and I was able to add them to my cart, but by the time the Pearlmattes were purchasable the two eyeliners were removed from my cart. I wasn’t able to actually purchase them, and they have since been fully removed from the listing (not even as “coming soon!” or “sold out.” It might be a stocking or manufacturing issue, but if other retailers and counters/stores have them available, then hopefully online will eventually have them, too.
Black Swan is a dark black with subtle brown undertones and blue/silver shimmer–it looks silver straight no, then flashes a little to blue at an angle. It has great color payoff in a single pass and is buildable–it doesn’t bunch up or skip if you go back and forth. (Part of Betty’s products.)
Designer Purple is a violet purple with subtle red undertones and silver sparkle. This had decent pigmentation in one stroke, but it was less buildable than the other shades. For a purple eyeliner, it is pretty good. The sparkle in this shade is particularly chunky. Urban Decay Delinquent is more muted. (Part of Veronica’s products.)
Lord It Up is a medium-dark brown with yellow-brown undertones and a gold/copper shimmer. It had decent to good color payoff in a single pass, and it was also rather buildable. It is similar to Urban Decay Corrupt. (Part of Betty’s products.)
Petrol Blue is a rich, navy blue with lighter navy blue shimmer. It had fairly good color in a single go, and it was also buildable. For dupes, you can see comparisons to other navy blues here. (Part of Veronica’s products.)
Pearlglides are soft and very creamy, but in my experience, they wear well. I get a full eight hours with all of these shades without the colors migrating, smudging, or fading. They’re rather pigmented in a single stroke, but one pass back and forth is usually enough for full opacity and the texture isn’t very waxy, so they build up color well. One word of caution: be careful if you wear them on your lower lash line not to get them on the water line, because the sparkles in the eyeliner can be very irritating to the eye. (This, of course, will depend on your sensitivity.) As far as I know, these are not waterline safe, which makes sense, given the sparkly nature of the pencils.
If you love really soft, creamy eyeliners, this is a formula worth checking out. These are very intense, rich shades, and it's easy to get the color you see in the pencil onto the eye.

MAC Fly-By-Blu is a lightened blue over a blackened navy base. (LE)
MAC Petrol Blue is a dark navy blue with sparkle over a blackened blue base. This shade is similar to MUFE #8K and D&G #8.
MAC Blue Stripe is a blackened navy blue with a subtle sheen. It is darker and less sparkly compared to MAC Petrol Blue, and a touch darker than MUFE #3L.
Urban Decay Binge is a lightened navy blue with a hint of purple; it is a bit lighter than the other navy blues here.
Tarina Tarantino Cute Robot is a rich navy blue over a blackened navy base. It is comparable to NARS Rue Saint-Honore and MAC Petrol Blue.

MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners ($15.00 for 0.04 oz.) are being repromoted with the MAC Vera Collection. I received confirmation from MAC HQ this morning that these will be permanent going forward (just these shades). All seven shades available with this collection have been released previously. These shades include: Black Line (black with gold pearl), Black Swan (black with pearl), Designer Purple (iridescent violet), Industrial (periwinkle grey), Lord It Up (bronze with pearl), Petrol Blue (deep navy with pearl), and Undercurrent (teal with pearl).
Black Line is a dark brown-based black with dirty gold shimmer. It has good color payoff in a single stroke. It’s similar to Shiseido Black Sand.
Black Swan is a blue-based black with silver-blue shimmer. It has good color payoff in a single stroke. I don’t know of a dupe for this one.
Designer Purple is a brightened violet purple with violet and silver shimmer. This shade had some of the chunkier sparkle. It has good color payoff in one pass. MAC Rich Purple was the closest dupe I could think of, but it’s darker, less violet. Urban Decay Delinquent is similar but not as bright.
Industrial is a gray-casted blue with hints of brown. It’s an interesting color, and I found it difficuolt to describe. The color payoff is so-so in one pass, and even layering, it doesn’t build as well as the other shades. I couldn’t think of a dupe.
Lord It Up is a warm bronze brown with gold-bronze shimmer. It has good color payoff in one stroke. It’s similar to Urban Decay Corrupt.
Petrol Blue is a dark navy blue with sapphire shimmer. It has decent to good color payoff in a single pass but layers nicely. It’s similar, but brighter, than toki doki Skeletro. Make Up For Ever #3L is similar but not as intense.
Undercurrent is a blue-based teal with green-gold and teal shimmer. It has good color payoff in a single pass. Urban Decay Junkie is nearly identical.
The best part about Pearlglides is their intensity; they’re deep, dark, and look rich once applied. Some perform better in a single stroke than others, though you’ll get the best results if you go back and forth (just once, so it’s like two passes in total). The texture is very soft and creamy, so they glide effortlessly across the lash line and never tug or pull.
These wear around eight hours on me, and luckily, since these were repromoted, I was able to re-test these against the newer rating system in the past week. I tested out the wear of Black Line, Industrial, Lord It Up, and Undercurrent on the lower lash line. I’m not sure if these are water line safe, but my instinct is that they’re likely not, because of the high shimmer content in all of the shades.
If you love really soft, creamy eyeliners, this is a formula worth checking out. The shade range is interesting and more complex -- I don't have dupes for a lot of these shades.
