MAC Disney Venomous Villains Collection: Dr. Facilier Review, Photos, Swatches

The last part of the collection is Dr. Facilier’s part. It includes one lipgelee, three pigments, two greasepaint sticks, and two magically cool liquid powders. It also has a silver mirror compact with Dr. Facilier on the outside (not shown or reviewed here).

All of the character images are stamped on the products; they are not stickers. You can find official promotional imagery and color descriptions here. The collection launches on September 30th, 2010 at all MAC locations, October 2010 internationally, and approximately September 28th for online. You may also want to check your local store to see if they are holding an unveiling/preview party for the collection.

Pigment ($19.50 U.S. / $23.50 CDN)

• Melon is a peachy-gold with subtle pink undertones.  I love Melon as a base for corals, golds, reds, and bronzes.   It also works nicely to highlight cheeks or lips.  This is part of the permanent range.
• Brash & Bold is a bright pop of dark pink with subtle satin sheen.  It’s smooth, pigmented, and not frosty at all.  It was released last year with Makeup Art Cosmetics.
• Push the Edge is a lightly shimmered violet purple.  It has a nice richness in color, and it has a slightly metallic sheen.  It was released last year with Makeup Art Cosmetics.

Magically Cool Liquid Powder ($29.50 U.S. / $35.50 CDN)

• Truth & Light is a soft peach nude sheen. Yes, it feels like liquid when you apply it to skin, and yes, it is a little wet, and then it dries to a powder finish. It is VERY cool to play with, I can assure you! This is something one might use all over or to highlight certain areas; it’s very subtle and not at all frosty. (It doesn’t photograph/show well on my cheeks by itself.)  It can be used under or over makeup.
• Cajun is a medium tan with soft peach sheen. It gives my cheeks just a little bit of a tanned/bronzed look–again, very subtle, but more noticeable on its own than Truth & Light.

Lipgelee ($15.50 U.S. / $18.50 CDN)

• Resort Life is an over-the-top white champagne shimmered, silver glittered sheer gloss with subtle pink glitter. It was originally released in MAC in Lillyland.

Greasepaint Stick ($17.50 U.S. / $21.00 CDN)

• Slick Black is a deep dark black, very solid and opaque. It’s been released a few times now.
• French Quarter is a smoldering golden taupe brown with a black-brown base and flecks of bronze glitter-shimmer. It’s stunning, and it would make a great base for darker, smokier looks.  Much, much warmer than Dirty Greasepaint Stick.

Please note: As a press event attendee, I received samples of the full collection packaged in a “tower” with four boxes (one for each character), and as far as I know, it’s press packaging — therefore not something you will see or be able to purchase in-store.

Here’s a quick look for fall that I put together to go out to dinner with my parents and boyfriend (for my birthday). It’s pretty simple, and surprisingly, I used all permanent products (without trying–that’s an accomplishment!). Hope your Wednesday is off to a fantastic start! Halfway through the week — yay!

You will need the following…

• Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Melon pigment (peachy-pink), Gleam eyeshadow (peachy-pink), Cranberry eyeshadow (berry-wine), Fig. 1 eyeshadow (eggplant), Graphology eyeshadow (deep purple-black), Ricepaper eyeshadow (highlighter), Smolder eye kohl (black), Urban Decay El Dorado 24/7 Liner (gold), Zoom Fast Lash mascara (black)
• Cheeks: Plum Foolery blush (berry)
• Lips: Guerlain Gracia Lipstick (muted berry), Chanel Spark glossimer (coppery berry)
• Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
• Substitutes: N/A

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply Melon pigment with water-based mixing medium on the lower lid. On the inner lid, pack Gleam eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Cranberry eyeshadow to the outer portions of the lid. Darken crease with Fig. 1 eyeshadow using the 226, then deepen with Graphology eyeshadow with the 219. Sweep Ricepaper eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay El Dorado Liner on lower lash line, and Smolder eye kohl on the lower waterline using the 209. Apply Zoom Fast Lash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Plum Foolery blush using the 129. Apply Guerlain Gracia lipstick to lips, and then top with Chanel Spark glossimer for color and shine.

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply MAC Soft ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. Apply MAC Melon pigment just on lower lid with the 249. On the inner lid, pack #5 eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply #75 eyeshadow to the middle portion of the lid. On the outer lid and crease, apply #92 eyeshadow with the 226. Darken crease with #159 eyeshadow using the 219, and then blend out with the 226. Sweep MAC Nylon eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight with the 217. Apply Urban Decay Ransom 24/7 Liner on lower lash line. Smudge lower lash line with #151 eyeshadow with the 214 brush, pressing into lower lashes. Apply Aqua Smoky Lash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with MAC Petalpoint Blush using the 129. Apply Urban Decay Naked lipstick to lips, and then top with MAC Crystal Rose lipglass for color and shine.

Still experimenting with my camera, except I forgot to actually experiment. I got distracted (as per usual!), and I only ended up taking one set of photos, so I didn’t have much to choose from (read that as only one photo per angle, so there was nothing to choose from!).

• Lips: Fashionably Fuchsia lipstick (hot pink), Tartlette lipglass (coral)

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply Melon pigment with water-based mixing medium on the lower lid. On the inner lid, pack Going Bananas eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Fab & Flashy eyeshadow to the middle portion of the lid. Apply Coppering eyeshadow lightly on outer portions of the lid. Darken crease with Passionate eyeshadow using the 226, then deepen with Rule eyeshadow with the 219. Sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Honey Liner on lower lash line, and Blacktrack fluidline on the upper lash line using the 209. Apply Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Other Worldly blush using the 129, then highlight with Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer with the 188. Apply Fashionably Fuchsia lipstick to lips, and then top with Tartlette lipglass for color and shine.

Old Gold pigment is a stunning combination of yellowed green and green-gold mixed together. It’s an interesting mix of green and gold with a little bit of brown. This is a particularly good pigment for those with warmer tones in their skin.

Teal pigment is exactly as it is named — teal. It’s pigmented, smooth, and looks rich on eyes.

Golden Lemon pigment is a bright pop of yellow gold with lots of frost in its finish. It’s not necessarily a product for those who don’t love shimmer/frost in their eye products, but it is one of the best bases to use for gold, orange, and red eyeshadows.

Golden Olive pigment is a gorgeous soft, olive green. It’s smooth in texture, rich in color pay off, and feels soft. If you wear green eyeshdaow often, tihs is an absolute must.

Melon pigment is a sunny, peachy-pink combination that can be worn alone, as a base, or to highlight.

Pink Opal pigment is perfect for highlighting and accenting the face, lips, or eyes. It’s one of the most versatile pigment shades, and definitely a favorite of mine.

Violet pigment is a beautiful shade of rich, medium-to-dark purple. It’s not too cool, not too warm–almost neutral–so it is great for all skin tones. Like the other pigments on this list, the product is pigmented and smooth to the touch.]

Vanilla or Naked pigments are superb highlighter/neutral shades to have in your pigment collection. Vanilla tends to work better on cooler skin tones, while Naked works on all skin tones, but it can lean just a touch warm.
