MAC Liquid Passion Lipglass
MAC Liquid Passion Lipglass

MAC Temperature Rising Lipglasses ($16.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) come in four shades: Liquid Passion (creamy nude), Rhythm (vivid magenta violet with pearl), Soft Serenade (mid-tone neutral pink with pearl), and Underdressed (bronze plum with multidimensional pearls).

Liquid Passion is a warm-toned, medium peach with beige and has a creamy finish. It has mostly opaque color payoff, but it does settle into lip lines somewhat–it is surprisingly even for this kind of color and finish, though. This shade lasted three and a half hours on me. MAC Peachstock is similar but thicker, glossier. MAC Naked Space is shimmery and more yellow-beige in tone. MAC Ready or Not! is a touch darker.

Rhythm is a magenta-fuchsia with fine shimmer and sparkle. It mostly tints the lips pink and adds some sparkle. I can see this working well as a quick and easy go-to gloss during the summer. The shimmer is very fine but still has a lot of sparkle. This shade wore well for four hours. MAC Astral is more opaque. Benefit Kiss You is similar in color but not shimmery. Burberry Hibiscus is darker, less shimmer. Bobbi Brown Electric Violet is cooler-toned. MAC Aleydis is cooler-toned, more fuchsia. Urban Decay Jilted is similar but has fuchsia shimmer.

Soft Serenade is a soft beige-brown with beige shimmer and sparkle. It has semi-sheer color payoff and evens out my lip color while adding warmth and shimmer. It lasted four hours on me when I wore it. MAC Deliciously Demure is lighter, more frosted. Bobbi Brown Becah is darker, browner. Bobbi Brown Bronzed Heather is also browner.

Underdressed is a darkened brown with a hint of plum and gold and copper sparkle/shimmer. This is the sparkliest of the four, and I think it’s the prettiest on. It’s semi-sheer with lots of shimmer, and the base color darkens the natural lip color but doesn’t cover it. This gloss lasted just over four hours on me when I tested it for wear. Dior Ambre Lumiere has much finer shimmer but is close. MAC Spree is cooler-toned. Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir is sheerer, less brown.

With the exception of Liquid Passion, the consistency of these seemed thinner, not quite as thick as normal Lipglass. They had finer shimmer, too, and didn’t appear as frosted on the lips. I didn’t feel any grit to the sparkle, either, even as they wore away. I actually see them being big hits for anyone who likes the Lipglass formula (because it is rather tacky, which is a deal-breaker for some) as a sparkling lip color for summer. They performed much like Lipglass in terms of wear; they lasted about average and were neither hydrating nor drying.

MAC Silly Lipglass
MAC Silly Lipglass

MAC Silly Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as “bright pink.” It’s a medium, bubblegum pink with subtle blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. MAC Pink Nouveau is lighter. NARS Coeur Sucre is also lighter and has white shimmer. MAC Style Packed is brighter, a touch darker. MAC Sassy Lassy is very similar but has shimmer. MAC True Babe is darker.

It has mostly opaque color coverage, but it’s not completely full–it does this thing where it settles into lip lines and has some translucency such that the natural lip color comes through but in a more textural way. Silly has a thicker consistency (but true to Lipglass’ formula), is tacky, and applies mostly evenly. I usually see wear around four hours with MAC’s Lipglass formula, but I’ll be testing this one later today and will update if it is better/worse than that. It’s not super, super blue-based like some of MAC’s cool-toned pink glosses are, so it will be more wearable across skin tones.

It's not super, super blue-based like some of MAC's cool-toned pink glosses are, so it will be more wearable across skin tones. It's a good pink for layering over other pink and fuchsia lipglosses that will enhance the underlying lipstick.

MAC Embrace Me Lipglass
MAC Embrace Me Lipglass

MAC Embrace Me Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as “bright fuchsia.” It’s a medium fuchsia-pink with fuchsia micro-shimmer–it is a redder fuchsia compared to the lipstick. MAC Girl About Town is darker. MAC Full Speed Ahead is less fuchsia, no shimmer. I didn’t feel like anything was all that similar.

It had semi-opaque color coverage; it added a lot of color but still allowed the natural lip color to come through. If you have a redder natural lip color, I would expect this to look and “turn” redder as a result. Embrace Me applied mostly evenly though there was some minor settling into lip lines. It did have a tendency to bunch up somewhat, but it was not as noticeable as it has been in other Lipglasses (especially the lighter ones).  The consistency is on the thicker side, and it is tacky, as Lipglass is known to be. This shade wore for four hours well.

This gloss could be more even and thinner, so it would sit better on the lip and be easier to keep even while worn.

MAC Ablaze Lipstick
MAC Ablaze Lipglass

MAC Ablaze Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright orange.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark orange with red undertones and golden orange shimmer. Illamasqua Mistress is more coral. NARS Hollywoodlawn is darker, redder. MAC Eclectic Edge is less red, more shimmery. MAC Morange is more orange. MAC Caqui is similar but doesn’t have shimmer. Illamasqua Temper is brighter and has no shimmer.

This is such a lovely gloss from MAC–it had mostly opaque color coverage, but more importantly, it applied beautifully. The color went on evenly and didn’t bunch up on itself or slide around too much. It also seemed glossier than the average Lipglass. It’s a darker, deeper orange, so it doesn’t look neon, but it is still a bolder shade selection. I’m testing this shade right now, and we’re almost at the three-hour mark; based on how it’s wearing, it looks like it will last around four hours (typical of MAC Lipglass).

MAC Heroine Lipglass
MAC Heroine Lipglass

MAC Heroine Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright purple.” It’s a magenta purple with violet and pink pearl. It reminded me of a more pigmented MAC Revenge is Sweet. MAC Athena’s Kiss is the most comparable shade I could think of, but it’s not quite as bright or as pink. On lips, it looks a bit fuchsia, and depending on how naturally pink/red your lips are, it may look even pinker.

It yielded semi-opaque color coverage–it added quite a bit of color but there was translucency so the natural lip color came through. It applied somewhat evenly but was hard to maintain without lines of demarcation showing up (say, if you pressed your lips together). The texture is tacky, slightly thickened, and I typically get three to five hours of wear with MAC’s Lipglass formula (I will be testing the wear of these shades over the next few days and will make updates as necessary).

The formula is on the thicker side, so it allows the color to bunch up on itself to the point where you'll see lines if you press your lips together and doesn't keep the color looking even.

MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass
MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass

MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “pastel lavender pink.” It’s a milky, pale lavender-pink with subtle shimmer. MAC Viva Glam Gaga is pinker, more opaque. MAC Pink Fade is a touch lighter. MAC The Wee Coquette is lighter. MAC Stay Sweet is warmer, pinker. MAC Good Times is less cool-toned. MAC Pink Fade is cooler-toned.

It’s semi-sheer and allows a lot of the natural lip color to come through, which can warm/cool the color as well as make it appear pinker/redder. Because of its lightness, it does settle into lip lines and can cause lines of demarcation if you press your lips together. On my lips, it definitely appeared less purple applied than it does swatched or in the tube. When I applied it over Viva Glam Nicki 2 lipstick, it gave it a glossier look (of course!) and added a smidgen of pink–gave it less of a cool-toned vibe.  It wore three hours on my lips, and the texture and consistency is true-to-formula–thicker and tackier than your average gloss.
