MAC Cool Snowglobe Eyeshadow Palette ($38.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a limited edition holiday compact that features six eyeshadows: Snowball (frost white), Illegal Cargo (pale lavender), Idol Eyes (silvered violet with gold), Warm & Smoky (medium purple), Howzat (slate), and Set to Dance (dark royal blue). The MAC Ice Parade Collection launches October 27th, 2011 in-stores.
Snowball is a cool-toned white with a shimmery finish. It has a frost finish. The color payoff of this shade was lacking; it was sheer and didn’t apply smoothly. There are many other white eyeshadows that could work instead.
Illegal Cargo is a medium-dark, smoky purple with really poor pigmentation and a dry, stiff texture. It has a frost finish. MAC Parfait Amour is more vibrant and pigmented. Estee Lauder Untamed Violet is closer in color but more pigmented.
Idol Eyes is an ultra sheer smoky purple with chunky gold shimmer and silver flecks. It has a lustre finish and is part of the permanent range. MAC Parlor Smoke is similar in the base color but doesn’t have the gold sparkle. I don’t like Idol Eyes, because it’s sheer, chunky, and when worn, results in a ton of fall out.
Warm & Smoky is a rich, vibrant violet purple with good color payoff and a smooth texture. It has a veluxe pearl finish. It has a redder undertone than MAC Parfait Amour. Urban Decay Frigid is similar. MAC Grape pigment might be comparable as well.
Howzat is a purple-tinted gray with so-so pigmentation but a smoother texture. It has a satin finish and is a repromote. MAC Moody is darker, while NARS Delphes is lighter.
Set to Dance is a deep purple-tinted burgundy-brown. It has a matte finish and is a repromote. I have no idea how it’s described as a “royal blue,” because I couldn’t detect any blue in it at all. It had good color payoff and was rather workable for a matte finish by MAC. MAC Celestial Black is similar in base color but has shimmer. MAC Beauty Marked is redder and warmer.
For the past few years, I’ve crossed my fingers that MAC has taken note of reviews and customer feedback on their holiday palettes and amped up the quality and pigmentation of the shades they include in their eyeshadow palettes. They stand to be such a good deal with fun, pretty colors that are fun to receive or to give. I know because I remember my first set of holiday palettes by MAC; they were fantastic. Some of my favorite shades came from them–they were often better than permanent variations!
Two of the six shades had decent to good color payoff, while the other four were sheerer, and often, textures were a miss–either dry or chunky (see individual shades for specifics!). MAC can–and should–do better. It’s so painful for me to have paid $38.00 for this and have it be so lacking.
The packaging is all white with a “snowglobe” on the top of the compact. It will rain silver glitter (“snow”) if you shake and move the compact. I think it’s cute and fun, but I can’t help but point out that it makes the palette bulkier and harder to store (you can’t stack them).
I would skip this palette--you could buy two or three permanent shades from MAC or comparable brand for the price of this palette, but at least you would get high quality, high performing shades.

MAC Silver Iced Delights Eye Bag ($45.00) includes Silverwear (metallic lilac), Blue Spruce (celadon with violet sparkles), Graphblack (black), along with a full-sized Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara and 275SE brush. There are three different Eye Bags and all three contain both the mascara and special edition brush, but the eyeshadow duo and eyeliner vary. MAC Ice Parade launches on October 27th, 2011 in-stores.
Silverwear is an icy lilac with a frost finish. The color payoff is so-so, as it’s sheer but not invisible. Make Up For Ever #151 is similar, though a touch pinker. This is a repromote.
Blue Spruce is a dark navy blue with a tealish-green edge and copper sparkle. It has a velvet finish. I thought this looked very unique from the moment I swatched it, and thankfully, it also had good pigmentation. I couldn’t think of a dupe.
Graphblack is a medium-dark black. It is part of the permanent range.
I’m not keen on the color payoff of Silverwear, especially as a frost finish, it shouldn’t be as sheer as it is. I do, however, appreciate and like the originality of Blue Spruce. Trade-offs! Graphblack is a long-time favorite, and I used to use it as my go-to black eyeliner for a couple of years.

MAC Gold Iced Delights Eye Bag ($45.00) includes Baby, It’s Cold… (butter yellow), Woodsmoke (muted emerald green), Brown Border (brown), along with a full-sized Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara and 275SE brush. There are three different Eye Bags and all three contain both the mascara and special edition brush, but the eyeshadow duo and eyeliner vary. MAC Ice Parade launches on October 27th, 2011 in-stores.
Baby, It’s Cold… is a shimmered yellowy beige with great color payoff and a smooth, rich texture. It has a frost finish but feels more like a veluxe pearl. One of the better eyeshadows from the entire MAC holiday launch. It’s like MAC Butternutty in powder form.
Woodsmoke is a dark forest green with a red-toned brown base. It has a frost finish, and it had nice color payoff and was fairly smooth to the touch. It is green-tinged, so it’s not quite like Blue Brown pigment, but it’s not as green as Green Brown pigment. OCC Poison is greener and the brown base isn’t as apparent.
Brown Border is a warm-toned medium-dark brown. It’s part of the permanent range.
I liked this kit the best out of the three Eye Bags; the quality was there in all three products. The texture of the eyeshadows is soft and smooth, while the pigmentation is good to great. As a bonus, the duo and eyeliner definitely complement each other.

MAC Pearl Iced Delights Eye Bag ($45.00) includes Taupeless (lavender pink), Celestial Black (rich blue-black with red pearl), and Purple Dash (purple), along with a full-sized Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara and 275SE brush. There are three different Eye Bags and all three contain both the mascara and special edition brush, but the eyeshadow duo and eyeliner vary. MAC Ice Parade launches on October 27th, 2011 in-stores.
Taupeless is an icy pink with subtle cool undertones and silver sparkle. It has a lustre finish, which means it is prone to fall out. The pigmentation is so-so with some underlying sheerness. This particular shade is a repromote. It is similar to MAC Seedy Pearl, which has a smoother finish.
Celestial Black is a burgundy-tinted black with red shimmer. It has a velvet finish. It’s dry, stiff, and tends to work better when used with a fluffy brush (like the 222). The color payoff is underwhelming. MAC Beauty Marked isn’t as black-based.
Purple Dash is a purple-plum with fuchsia-purple shimmer. It’s creamier than the limited edition Technakohls from the holiday colour collection. This is part of the permanent range. It is similar to Make Up For Ever #4L.
This kit would be a skip for me, because the fall out from Taupeless combined with the stiffness of Celestial Black make it less than appealing at $45. The mascara and special edition 275 are nice additions but likely not the reason you were interested in it! I think some will love the bag, while others will hate it. It’s very soft and squishy, so it feels cheap to me, though it is lined and feels durable enough.
