Lucky Tom Eyeshadow Palette (L to R)

MAC Hello Kitty Swatches!

If you followed me on Twitter, you might have read that it happened to me again — they gave me TWO Lucky Tom palettes instead of one Lucky Tom and one Too Dolly palette. They put one on hold for me, so I’ll be picking it up tomorrow. I’m SO SO SO sorry for not having it up tonight, but I hope you’ll sit tight and wait for it tomorrow and forgive me for it all. :)

*EDIT* So Too Dolly features 3 shadows I already own, so I swatched them. I’m still missing Too Dolly, but now it’s not *as* bad as missing four, right?

Today is GET YOUR KITTY ON! day!

For those lucky enough to attend, MAC stores and counters around the country are having very special unveiling parties this evening. I’ll be heading to my local store’s unveiling party tonight, which starts at 7PM, but you know me — planning to be there early so I can be first in line (OK, my ambition is to be first group in the door, not necessarily *first* in line!). I figure I’ll pop by the mall around 6PM so I can check out Nordie’s and return a few items at Sephora.

According to the lovely MA I spoke to last night, they fully expect to sell out tonight for many items, AND they are showin’ off Kitty Kouture! Based on this poll, you can expect Temptalia to bring you all of the swatches, lip swatches, and product photos you can handle. (But I’ll be passing on the accessories’ line, sorry all, that’s just a lil’ too much for Temptalia’s budget!) Told ya your feedback matters!! :) I had to call yesterday to make sure they weren’t going to restrict spending (I believe some stores have a $500 limit, LOL), so I can fully lavish in my Hello Kitty Haulin’.

Anyway, the point of this post is for YOU to tell me about what you would haul from Hello Kitty if you had $250 to spend on anything your heart desired from Hello Kitty (including Kitty Kouture, don’t think I don’t know how clever y’all are!). Then, tell me what you’re actually planning to haul, whether your budget is $0 or $1,500! Let’s talk Hello Kitty today and embrace the collaboration between MAC and an icon.

And finally? Tell me what you’re looking to dupe. Ask me if _____ is a dupe for ________. I’ll do my best to figure it out and get you an answer before the collection releases nationally on the 12th.

Are you behind on your Kitty?

There is no doubt MAC’s Hello Kitty line has stirred up some feelings in many of you–for good or bad. I have a few Hello Kitty-related things to share with you, so I thought this quick post would be a good place to do so.

Why is Hello Kitty not white and pink?

I was chatting with a local artist from my MAC freestanding store, and she mentioned how many of the spring fashion trends were a bit on the fetish side, which she felt really help explain the way MAC interpreted Hello Kitty into a collection.  Others think it’s more about MAC taking its traditional black packaging and melding it with the figure of Hello Kitty (and thus, not the colors per se).  But I think the fetish-fashion-kitty idea has merit; the promo images certainly seem to fit the bill.

How much is the brush holder?  Does it come with the brushes?

The brush holder comes with three brushes, and the U.S. price is $49.50.  Each brush is black handled and says “Hello Kitty” on it.  When there have been special launches featuring brushes like these, they are usually just as good quality, but shorter handled.  I have not tested these out, so I truly couldn’t tell you one way or the other.  I can say that $49.50 was the going price for this past holiday’s brush sets, so this set does not seem priced so far out of the expected realm.

How can I go to a special MAC Hello Kitty event?

Many key locations are having both Hello Kitty events as well as unveilings.  An unveiling occurs in advance of the national release date, while an event often happens the following weekend or week after the launch date.  As far as I know, it looks like February 3rd is the unveiling date around the country.  Some people will receive actual invites in the mail, while others may be invited when they’re in-store.  You can always call up your local store(s) and ask to attend.  I definitely recommend giving it a shot, because you have nothing to lose by trying.

Are you going to an unveiling event?

Yes, I will be attending MAC at Valley Fair’s unveiling event on February 3rd.  If you think you may be there, let me know!  I’d love to meet you. :)  Or if you see me there, be sure to say hi!  Otherwise, I’ll be in and out like the swatchin’ fiend I am, LOL.

Iswii.net has these fantastic images taken from an unveiling of a MAC S/S2009 show. I don’t know much else, considering I don’t know a lick of Chinese, LOL. Any translators? ;) P.S. – It looks like a MSF from BBR is acting as a placeholder on the HK display.

So, still excited for HK? Less excited? MORE?
