MAC Good Times Lipglass
MAC Good Times Lipglass

Three Lipglasses to Tempt You

MAC Taste Temptation Lipglasses ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) features three shades: Good Times (pale mauve), Revenge is Sweet (vivid purple), and Perky (mid-tone shimmering lilac)–the latter I do not have but will purchase when the collection launches online. Both Good Times and Revenge is Sweet are repromotes.

Good Times is a pale, gray-ish pink-beige with a cream finish. It yielded mostly opaque color coverage, but it does settle into lip lines. MAC The Wee Coquette is lighter, cooler-toned. MAC Pink Fade is pinker, more blue-based.  This shade was released twice last year, so you may already have it.

Revenge is Sweet darkens my natural lip color to a reddish-pink and adds a fine dusting of iridescent fuchsia-purple micro-shimmer. The way it sits and looks reminds me of jelly nail polishes. MAC Dress Kimono is lighter. MAC Fabulous Fun has glitter rather than shimmer.

Perky will be reviewed when I can purchase it.

MAC Lipglass is vanilla-scented, sticky, on the thicker side , and tends to wear a little longer than the average gloss.  I noticed that Good Times had an odd, almost plastic-like scent.  It was not the normal vanilla-scented gloss I’m used to, though there was a lingering vanilla in it, there was also something else.  Good Times wore for four hours, while Revenge is Sweet wore for there hours.  They were neither drying nor hydrating.

MAC Taste Temptation Lipglasses Reviews, Photos, Swatches

B
They're just okay - not great, not bad - just lipgloss. Good Times is a bit problematic, because it is so pale and creamy, so it settles into lip lines and can look uneven if you're not careful.

MAC Fall Colour Lipglasses
C-Thru, Good Times, Orange Tempera, Pink Fade

MAC Fall Colour: Lipglasses

MAC Fall Colour Lipglasses ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) includes four shades: C-Thru (peachy beige with shimmer), Good Times (pale mauve), Orange Tempera (pale peach), and Pink Fade (pale pink). These are part of the MAC Fall Colour Collection, which debuts in North America on September 29th, 2011 and rolls out internationally in October. C-Thru is part of the permanent collection, the other three are limited edition.

  • C-Thru is a milky beige-nude with pale beige-white shimmer. IT’s semi-opaque and does settle a bit into lip lines. This is a permanent shade. MAC on the Scene is similar. Urban Decay Max is a little more opaque and peach-tinted.
  • Good Times is a pale, creamy mauve-pink with nearly opaque color coverage. There is enough milkiness that it does settle into lip lines but the more opaque color hides some of it. Good Times is more opaque than MAC Going Casual but less pink than MAC Splashing. FYI, it just came out with MAC Me Over.
  • Orange Tempera is a soft, light-medium peach with a creamy look. There is some settling into lip lines but it is on the more opaque side and applies fairly evenly. It is lighter than MAC Illicit.
  • Pink Fade is a really cool-toned, blue-based pale pink with a creamy milkiness that encourages settling into lip lines. The coverage is mostly opaque and applies fairly evenly. It is lighter than MAC Viva Glam Gaga. It is a little cooler-toned than MAC Enchantee.

I’m not a big fan of the way MAC’s creamier lipglasses look on lips–they tend to settle into lip lines and apply unevenly. The thickness of the lipglass texture can make it harder to get even color coverage because it doesn’t glide as easily as a thinner gloss would. Lipglass is a sticky formula with a vanilla scent that typically wears three to fours on me. I don’t find the moisturizing, but I don’t usually find them drying either. I recommend creamier shades like these over a lip liner or lipstick.

These all settle into lip lines, which can be a difficult look to pull off! I recommend using a lip liner or lipstick underneath, which should minimize settling and give a more even appearance overall.

MAC Me Over Lipglasses
MAC Me Over Lipglasses in Good Times, Illicit, Social Light, and The Wee Coquette

MAC Me Over: Lipglasses

There are seven shades of MAC Lipglass ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) launched with MAC Me Over. They include: Curvaceous (light grey pink), Good Times (pale mauve), Illicit (creamy neutral pink), Plum Fun (neutral plum with purple pearlized pigments), Social Light (neutral pink with pearlized pigments), Spite (muted plum taupe brown), and The Wee Coquette (naked neutral pink).

  • Curvaceous is a milky pink with just a hint of plum. It has a creamy, milky appearance, so it can take some patience to get even coverage, though the opacity of the gloss is mostly opaque. It is similar to Illamasqua Move but Curvaceous is less pigmented.
  • Good Times is a pale, milky pinked mauve. The lightness of the color combined with the milkiness does make it a gloss that settles into lip lines. The color itself is mostly opaque. It is more opaque than MAC Going Casual but much less pink compared to MAC Splashing.
  • Illicit is a peachy-beige with white micro-shimmer. This is a repromote. I found this one difficult to apply in an even layer of color–it just settles into lip lines and looks quite uneven, which is also due to the general thickness of the formula itself. It is less pink compared to MAC Lust, less coral compared to MAC Pretty Quick!, more peach (but less even) than MAC Jest For Fun, similar to (but less even) than MAC Frankly Fresh,
  • Plum Fun is a berry-tinted red with gold shimmer. It has nearly opaque color coverage. NYX Burgundy is redder. NARS Bougainville is very similar, though it is a touch darker. Dolce & Gabbana Vibrant is pinker.
  • Social Light is a pink-brown with multi-colored shimmer. It’s an interesting shade, because it looks browner in the tube and swatched, but it emphasizes the redness in my lips when worn. This was, however, the 11th or 12th lip product I swatched. When swatched, it resembles MAC Spree, but it’s a touch less brown. It is less coral compared to MAC Wildly Refined.
  • Spite will be reviewed when I am able to purchase it, but my local stores are presently sold out of it. This is a permanent shade.
  • The Wee Coquette is a pale, milky blue-based pink with white shimmer. This is a repromote. It is less opaque and glossier than MAC Enchantee.

MAC Lipglasses are sticky, vanilla-scented, and wear longer than most glosses (because of their tackiness). I get between three and four hours with lighter colors, and some of the darker shades will wear four to five on me. The formula is very thick, though, which can make getting an even layer more difficult. Additionally, when the hue is very pale, creamy, or otherwise milky-looking, the unevenness is more pronounced.

MAC Me Over is a 51-piece collection for fall, which will launch in North America on August 25th, 2011 and internationally in September 2011. It will launch online approximately August 23rd but there is no concrete online launch date. All products–unless otherwise noted–are limited edition.

B-
I generally don't mind MAC's stickier, thicker Lipglass formula, but a couple of these felt more gloppy than just thick on. The milkier shades are better over a lipstick, because it will help minimize the unevenness in the gloss layer more.
