It’s been a minute since we’ve gone back into the looks’ archives, and I thought this summery, pink-themed look as we head into Memorial Day weekend. It’s amazing when you go back two years (this is look is from July 2007!) and see the products you used… and still love them. Fun Fun lipstick is still one of my favorite lipsticks!

About the Look

I used Provence pigment on lid, Rose Blanc eyeshadow on inner lid, Living Pink eyeshadow on middle of lid, Passionate eyeshadow on outer lid and crease, Hush eyeshadow above crease, White Tie eyeshadow on brow, Rose Blanc eyeshadow on lower lash line, Graphblack technakohl on lower lash line. I had Fleurry blush on cheeks with Taupe blush to contour. I had Fun Fun lipstick with Bait lipglass on my lips.

I’m feeling encouraged by yesterday’s look post (because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to post this since it was more experimental than anything else), so I wanted to share with you a look I attempted a week or so ago. I wanted to try a color combination I hadn’t done before (it’s not always easy to think of something that is different AND could work!), and this is what I came up with. I didn’t like it at first, but as I looked at it throughout the day, I decided I really liked the eyes and thought the application was better than my usual is. I just had no idea what kind of lip color made a good pairing! Nude looked odd, too purple looked odd, and too pink doesn’t seem like it complements. I was thinking maybe a really shamelessly bold, wine/burgundy/purple lip might have rocked it (think Rebel lipstick).

You will need the following…

• Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), True Chartreuse pigment (chartreuse), Goldmine eyeshadow (gold), Overgrown eyeshadow (chatreuse), Fig. 1 (medium wine), Shadowy Lady eyeshadow (deep burgundy), Crystal Avalanche eyeshadow (white highlighter), Urban Decay Ransom 24/7 Liner (blue-violet), Plushlash mascara (black)
• Cheeks: Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer (bronzy highlighter)
• Lips: Fun Fun lipstick (light pinky-purple), Tartlette lipglass (coral)
• Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
• Substitutes: Overgrown = Bitter; Fun Fun = Snob; Tartlette = Lychee Luxe

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply True Chartreuse pigment with water-based mixing medium on the lower lid. On the inner lid, pack Goldmine eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Overgrown eyeshadow to the middle and outer portions of the lid. Darken crease with Fig. 1 eyeshadow using the 226, then deepen with Shadowy Lady eyeshadow with the 219. Sweep Crystal Avalanche eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Ransom Liner on lower lash line. Apply Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer with the 188. Apply Fun Fun lipstick to lips, and then top with Tartlette lipglass for color and shine.

There’s been a lot of questions about how does Lavender Whip (from Cremeteam) compare to Fashion Mews (from Hello Kitty), and what about Fun Fun from Balloonacy eons ago. Ask no more, the picture above tells the story.

Lavender Whip vs. Fun Fun: It’s obvious that Fun Fun is a lot pinker. I would actually say that Fun Fun has some lavender in it, but when sandwiched between two more dominant lavender shades… the pink is brought out.

Lavender Whip vs. Fashion Mews: Fashion Mews is lighter and frostier in its finish than Lavender Whip, but they are similar. If you only want a lavender lipstick and don’t see yourself wearing it all the time, you might try Lavender Whip over Fashion Mews, just because the finish is nicer and it has a touch more color pay off. Plus, you can always add frostiness or make it lighter with a lipgloss.

Fashion Mews vs. Fun Fun: Again, they’re not dupes, and next to each other, they don’t even look like they’re in the same color family! I love Fun Fun, but I’ve always found it to be a very cool lipstick with some purple to it (but not as strong as the other two)–but in the swatch, it almost looks like a warm to neutral pink! But I think we can safely say they are definitely not dupes.

• Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (creamy neutral base), Fab & Flashy eyeshadow (shimmery orange), Passionate eyeshadow (bright matte pink), Cranberry eyeshadow (dark raspberry), Orange Tangent eyeshadow (light orange), Urban Decay Lust 24/7 Liner (purple), Plushlash mascara (black)
• Cheeks: Givenchy Glowing Rose Blush (soft pink)
• Lips: Fun Fun lipstick (cool light pink), Rich & Ripe lipglass (pink with brown undertones)
• Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
• Substitutes: Fab & Flashy = Juiced; Orange Tangent = Gorgeous Gold + Juiced; Fun Fun = Snob; Rich & Ripe = Lust

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner-to-middle lid, apply Fab & Flashy eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Passionate eyeshadow from middle of lid to outer lid with the 239. Darken outer crease with Cranberry eyeshadow and blending upwards. Sweep Orange Tangent eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Lust 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Givenchy Glowing Rose blush using the 129. Apply Fun Fun lipstick to lips, and then top with Ripe & Ready lipglass for color and shine.

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Your Ladyship pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. Apply Thunder eyeshadow to inner third of the lid using the 239 brush. Follow by applying Stars N Rockets eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken outer lid with Parfait Amour eyeshadow, then drag color into outer crease to deepen, using the 239. Soften harsh lines with Thunder eyeshadow swept above crease. Highlight brow with Ricepaper eyeshadow. Line lower lash line with UD 24/7 Rockstar Pencil. Sweep apples of cheeks with Don’t Be Shy blush using the 129. Apply Fun Fun lipstick to lips, and then top with Cult Fave lipglass for color and shine.

I used Mutiny pigment (LE) all over lid, Nylon eyeshadow on inner and middle lid, Newly Minted eyeshadow on outer lid, Freshwater eyeshadow on outer crease, Juxt eyeshadow above crease, Phloof! eyeshadow on brow and lower lash line, Pop Blue dual edge pencil (LE) on lower lash line, Graphblack technakohl on lower waterline, Blacktrack fluidline on upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I had Don’tBe Shy blush (LE) on cheeks with Guerlain Pressed Meteorites in Mythic to highlight. I wore Fun Fun lipstick (LE) with Baby Sparks dazzleglass (LE) on lips.
