Yellow, Orange, Coral with MAC Big Bounce & Fashion Flower

This is a look I did last week to test out the MAC Big Bounce eyeshadow for twelve hours.  For reference, you really don’t need Fresh Daisy in this look.  I initially wanted to use it in the inner corner (and you can see a very little bit), but it was just too stark against my skin tone so I covered most of it with Bright Sunshine.

You will need the following…

• Eyes:  MAC Reward Yourself Big Bounce Eyeshadow (olive green), MAC Fresh Daisy Eyeshadow (warm white), MAC Bright Sunshine Eyeshadow (bright yellow with shimmer), MAC Rule Eyeshadow (orange), MAC Free to Be Eyeshadow (coral), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow (highlighter), Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 Liner (brown), Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash (black)
• Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Burberry Pressed Powder (03)
• Cheeks: MAC Springsheen Blush (pinky-peach)
• Lips: MAC Ever Hip Lipstick (coral-pink), Cle de Peau #2 Lipgloss (pink-peach)
• Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pencil brush), 188 (small, circular stippling brush)
• Substitutes: Fresh Daisy = Nylon; Ever Hip = Crosswires (not a great dupe!)

For eyes, start by applying Reward Yourself eyeshadow all over the lid and above the crease with the 242.  Apply Fresh Daisy eyeshadow to the inner tearduct with the 239.  Next, apply Bright Sunshine eyeshadow to the middle of the lid with the 239.  Gently blend Rule eyeshadow to the outer third of the lid and into the crease with the 239.  Darken the crease with Free to Be eyeshadow using the 222.

For cheeks, apply Springsheen blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Ever Hip lipstick and top with #2 lipgloss for a complementing lip.

MAC Fashion Flower: Lipsticks

The collection features four shades of Lipstick (each $14.50 for 0.10 oz.) — Ever Hip (bright creamy coral), Growing Trend (mid-tone taupe nude), Mlle (light white pink), and Summer Shower (light aqua).

• Ever Hip is a pink-based coral with a creamy, slightly glossy finish.  It’s semi-opaque to opaque on lips, depending on how much you layer it. It has a cremesheen finish.  MAC doesn’t have a comparable permanent dupe to it, unfortunately.
• Growing Trend is a medium dark beige nude with a creamy finish.  It has an amplified finish.  It’s a shade or two darker than Viva Glam Gaga 2 and has less peach (this almost looks a touch pink next to it).
• Mlle is a pale, blue-based light pink. It looks a little dry on lips (perhaps more like a frost finish, except it lacks the shimmer part of a frost), but it didn’t feel drying. It has a glaze finish, and it is a repromote–but from many, many years ago. It seems like a paler version of Pink Plaid, cooler version of Creme Cup. This would work best on cooler skin tones.
• Summer Shower is very much a near-to-clear base with teal, fuchsia-purple, and white shimmer and sparkle. It’s more of layering lip product than one you’d wear on its own (in general). I can’t think of a permanent dupe for it. It has a glaze finish. This would work across skin tones.

my thoughts on the formula: MAC Lipsticks are vanilla-scented but taste-free. I typically get four hours of wear, but some of the lighter lustre and glaze finishes tend to disappear by hour three. Amplified cremes and amplified finishes, however, tend to go beyond four. I find the formula comfortable to wear and not drying (but not moisturizing–a couple of the matte shades can be drying).

	Mlle doesn't look as flattering as worn as one would like--it has a drier look, even though the texture itself was smooth and applied evenly. Summer Shower looks fun in the tube but keep in mind it is more about the multi-colored reflective shimmer than the actual color!

Smoky Greens with MAC Fashion Flower

First time trying (and testing, of course) out the new Big Bounce Eyeshadows.  Since I didn’t receive the products until later in the day, I was only able to wear this look for eight hours before I just had to remove it.  I initially tried to sleep in it, but after attempting it for an hour, I couldn’t!

You will need the following…

• Eyes:  MAC Spread the Wealth Big Bounce Eyeshadow (olive green), MAC Lucky Green Eyeshadow (summery green), MAC Groundcover Eyeshadow (grayish taupe), MAC Bows & Curtseys Eyeshadow (blackened green), MAC Fresh Daisy Eyeshadow (white), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow (highlighter), MAC Tealo Powerpoint Eyeliner (dark teal), MAC Green is Green Mascara (green-teal)
• Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Burberry Pressed Powder (03)
• Cheeks: Le Metier de Beaute Echo Blush (golden pink-peach)
• Lips: MAC Ever Hip Lipstick (coral-pink)
• Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pencil brush), 188 (small, circular stippling brush)
• Substitutes: Groundcover = NARS Bali; Bows & Curtseys = MAC Deep Blue Green; Fresh Daisy = Phloof!; Ever Hip = NARS Niagara (slightly pinker)

For eyes, start by applying Spread the Wealth eyeshadow all over the lid and above the crease with the 242.  Apply Lucky Green eyeshadow to the lower half of the lid with the 239.  Next, apply Groundcover eyeshadow into the crease with the 222, blending slightly above the crease.  Take the 239 and apply Bows & Curtseys eyeshadow to the deepest part of the crease and blend to the lid.  Highlight the brow bone with a mixture of Fresh Daisy eyeshadow and Trench eyeshadow with the 217.  Apply Lucky Green eyeshadow to the lower lash line with the 239, and then finish the water line with Tealo liner.  Finish by sweeping lashes with Green is Green mascara.

For cheeks, apply Echo blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 188.

For lips, apply Ever Hip lipstick for a complementing lip.

Bright Makeup: Yellow, Orange, & Red

Does anyone else find it hard to get back into the swing of things? Whenever there’s been a disruption to my usual day-to-day routine (traveling for business, vacation, getting too sick to move, etc.), I just find it so difficult to fall back into my schedule! Grrr!

I’ll be heading over to MAC once they open (boo, being on the west coast!) to pick up the four missing items from Liberty of London and will update the review once I’ve done that. Who else is visiting their local MAC to grab some Liberty of London goodies?

• Lips: MAC Ever Hip Lipstick (orange-peach), MAC True Babe Lipglass (bright pink)

For eyes, start by applying Goldilux as your eyeshadow base with the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water). Using the 239, apply Buttercupcake eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Flamepoint eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Love+ eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Love+ eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Flamepoint eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lucky eyeliner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Prim & Proper blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116. Highlight cheeks with Polished cheek colour with the 188 for a soft sheen.

For lips, apply Ever Hip lipstick first, and then layer True Babe lipglass for a complementing lip.

Liberty of London Look: Greens & Blues

The boyfriend and I headed down to Monterey to visit the Aquarium, so I thought I’d try out some of the new products with some green in there to for that the “oceanic” feel!

I truly apologize for the lack of looks in the past two weeks.  It’s been an emotional time for my family as we said goodbye to my first dog, Willy (aka Woolly & Mr. Dog), who lived to be over seventeen years old, last Saturday.  I’m hoping this look will help me get back on track and give you all some more looks and the like.  Thank you for understanding!

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Lucky Green eyeshadow on the inner half of the eyelid. Next, apply Birds & Berries eyeshadow on the outer half of the eyelid and lightly into the outer crease. Darken the crease by applying Bough Grey eyeshadow with the 226. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Graffiti eyeliner on the lower lash line and Lucky Green eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Prim & Proper blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116. Highlight cheekbones with Shell Pearl beauty powder with the 165.

For lips, apply Ever Hip lipstick first, and then layer Frankly Fresh lipglass for a complementing lip.
