The horseback ride was pretty nice, though I can certainly feel it today! I call it the “Triangle of Pain,” because you feel it on about three points at the seat of your pants. It’s not fun. I’m praying that the Zipline harness doesn’t overlap those points, because I imagine the harness itself might make me a bit sore, too! I told the boy that when I came home, I’d be an “Octagon of Pain.” Hawaii’s been great for the most part, but I haven’t slept well at all, so it’s starting to take a toll on me! I keep going to bed and getting that sleep where you wake up 20 times, and each time you do, you feel like you never even went to sleep at all!

The look I’m sharing with you today is what I wore to go horseback riding. It seemed like it was going to be a good day, weather-wise, and sure enough, perfect! Breezy and not too humid or hot aka my makeup wouldn’t slide off the first step I took outside. Today, I’m going to go pretty bare-faced for the Zipline adventure (we picked the 8am time slot), but I’ll put on my “real” face later, LOL.

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. Apply Going Bananas eyeshadow to inner third of the lid using the 239 brush. Follow by applying Fab & Flashy eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken outer lid with Bold & Brazen eyeshadow. Apply Dark Edge eyeshadow into outer crease to deepen, using the 239. Soften harsh lines with Going Bananas eyeshadow swept above crease. Highlight brow with Ricepaper eyeshadow. Line lower lash line with UD 24/7 Stash Eye Pencil. Sweep apples of cheeks with Margin blush using the 129. Apply Swelter slimshine to lips, and then top with C-thru lipglass for color and shine.

Apply So Scarlet lipstick to lips, and then top with Jampacked lipglass for color and shine.

Here is the “experiment” portion! First two are with Bing mattene and Jampacked lipglass. The last two are with Clinique’s Red-y to Wear and MAC’s Boundless 3D glass.

Darken the outer crease using Dark Edge eyeshadow and drag into crease using the 239. Sweep Next to Nothing underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Graphblack technakohl on lower lash line, Rich Ground fluidline on upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Other Worldly using the 129. Apply Creme Cerise lipstick to lips, and then top with Jampacked lipglass for color and shine.

Mellan being clingy this morning while I did my makeup!

So, Magellan has had a heart murmur since we’ve gotten him, and it didn’t go away. Though we had an x-ray of his chest done a month or so ago, and the heart looked normal… turns out it isn’t. We talked with an orthopedic surgeon about doing hip surgery (since he has severe hip dysplasia), and before we could think about surgery, we needed to find out what exactly was wrong with his heart. A cardiologist did an echocardiogram (EKG) yesterday afternoon, and Magellan has moderaet pumonic stenosis, which basically means the blood flow on the right part of his heart is restricted.

Between the hips ($8K) and the heart ($5K), we just can’t afford to do surgery, and it seems silly to do one and not the other. He will probably have major hip problems (aka pain) by 3-4 years old, and by 4-5 years old, he has a 40% chance of his heart failing. We have decided to put him on some supplements to help his hips, but we will forego surgery at this point. Of course, we will enjoy every moment we have with him. On a positive side, there are a few exceptional dogs who live out their lives despite hip dysplasia and heart problems – just don’t know how many have done it with both.

I used Your Ladyship pigment on lid, Nanogold eyeshadow on inner lid, Modest Tone eyeshadow on middle of lid, Neutral Pink eyeshadow on outer lid, Dark Edge eyeshadow lightly in the outer crease, Nanogold eyeshadow above crease and on brow and lower lash line, and Feline kohl power on lower lash line. I wore Light Flush mineralize skinfinish with Sculpt sculpting powder to contour. I had 3N lipstick with 2N lipglass on my lips.
