MAC Cremesheen Glass in Japanese Spring and Narcissus
MAC for Daphne Guinness Cremesheen Glass
MAC Cremesheen Glass ($18.50 for 0.09 oz.) sees the launch of four shades as part of the Daphne Guinness collection (due in-stores on December 26th). The four shades are: Borealis (pale gray pink with iridescent pearl), Japanese Spring (pale dirty pink), Narcissus (dirty eggplant), and Richly Revered (deep brown plum). They’re all limited edition, though Richly Revered is a repromote and still available online now from when it last launched.
- Borealis is a milky bluish-white with gold and copper micro-shimmer. It’s semi-sheer–you can see a lot of natural lip color, but it’s still milky enough that it lightens lips. MAC Chillin is similar.
- Japanese Spring looks like a pale blue-based pink with a milky appearance when swatched. On lips, it doesn’t read quite as cool, but it is very milky, pale, and does settle into lip lines a bit. MAC Viva Glam Gaga is more opaque. Shiseido Pop Life is shimmery and not quite as blue-based.
- Narcissus is a magenta purple (not sure where they came up with “dirty eggplant”) that’s nearly opaque in color coverage. It’s a creamy color, and because of its opacity and intensity, it doesn’t look like it settles into lip lines. MAC Athena’s Kiss comes the closest, but it is pinker.
- Richly Revered was reviewed here.
Cremesheen Glass is a formula that glides onto the lips easily, feels comfortable without being thin or thick, and tends to be on the sheerer side in color, though both Narcissus and Richly Revered are rather opaque. It’s non-sticky (as compared to Lipglass, which is very thick and sticky), and it typically wears two hours or so on me before wearing away. Each tube seems large, but it only holds 0.09 oz., which is about half the size of your average lipgloss.

FINAL THOUGHTS
When Cremesheen Glasses are more opaque, they look better on lips as they don't settle into lip lines or look as uneven as the lighter colors do, as they have a tendency to settle into lip lines and apply unevenly. I'm not a fan of the wear time, though, which is only two hours or so, whereas the average gloss lasts three to four hours on me.

MAC Pink Lip Dazzlesphere
MAC Pink Lip Dazzlesphere for Holiday 2011
The third (and last!) lip kit we’re looking at is MAC’s Pink Lip Dazzlesphere ($32.50 for 2 x 0.07 oz., 2 x 0.09 oz.), which includes: Fashion Scoop (clear pink), Petite Indulgence (mid-tone bright blue pink), Like Venus (clean light bubblegum pink with red pearl), and Rags to Riches (plummy pink with red pearlized pigments).
The Cremesheen Glasses are listed as 0.07 oz. each, while the Dazzleglasses are listed as 0.09 oz. each (and I specifically say each, because this is how it is labeled). What is noteworthy about that is that full-sized Cremesheen Glasses are 0.09 oz. while full-sized Dazzleglasses are only 0.06 oz. The tubes feel thicker but are definitely shorter than full-sized Cremesheen Glasses/Dazzleglasses, although the clear plastic seems wider/thicker in the kit glosses. The area that contains the gloss seems slightly wider, maybe, but barely. I would hope that those sizes listed are accurate, and if that is indeed the case, then each kit contains $28.78 worth of Cremesheen Glass and $55.50 worth of Dazzleglass. That is a whopping $84.28 worth of lipgloss for $32.50.
- Fashion Scoop is a sheer, milky pale pink with white micro-shimmer. This shade is part of the permanent range. It’s sheerer than The Wee Coquette.
- Petite Indulgence is a cool-toned, blue-based bubblegum pink with a creamy finish. It has semi-sheer color that adds a faira mount of pink to my natural lip color. This shade is a repromote. It’s a way sheerer version of MAC Sassy Lassy.
- Like Venus is a clear gloss with pink and silver micro-glitter. It is similar to a lot of other sheer lipglosses. This shade is part of the permanent range.
- Rags to Riches is a heavily pink glittered gloss with multi-colored micro-glitter. It has a very subtle pink-brown base. It’s part of the permanent range. MAC Tad Saucy is similar.
Cremesheen Glass is a formula that glides onto the lips easily, feels comfortable without being thin or thick, and tends to be on the sheerer side in color. It’s non-sticky (as compared to Lipglass, which is very thick and sticky), and it typically wears two hours or so on me before wearing away. They also tend to be creamier colors, rather than packed with shimmer. Dazzleglasses have a medium-thick consistency with micro-glitter and shimmer. They tend to be sheerer in color with more oomph coming from the dazzle than the base color. They tend to last two to three hours on me and tend to get tacky over time.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Both Cremesheen Glasses and Dazzleglasses are designed to be sheerer formulas, so if you like sheer gloss or glosses for layering, these are ideal. With the listed gloss sizes, these are an incredible value.

MAC Neutral Lip Dazzlesphere
MAC Neutral Lip Dazzlesphere for Holiday 2011
The second lip kit we’re looking at is MAC’s Neutral Lip Dazzlesphere ($32.50 for 2 x 0.07 oz., 2 x 0.09 oz.), which includes: Boy Bait (light neutral beige with pearl), Over Indulgence (neutral brown), Bare Necessity (caramel apricot with red and gold pearlized pigments), and Get Rich Quick (warm yellow brown). All of the shades included this kit are part of the permanent range.
That is a whopping $84.28 worth of lipgloss for $32.50.
- Boy Bait is a pink-beige nude with very subtle, fine silver-white shimmer. It has a milky appearance but is so light that the settling in the lip lines isn’t that noticeable. This is a permanent shade. It’s similar to Estee Lauder Star Pink.
- Over Indulgence is a neutral coral-brown with subtle white micro-shimmer. It has some color coverage, which is unusual for this formula. This is a permanent shade. Urban Decay Heavy is similar but less coral.
- Bare Necessity is a dirty peach-brown with pink and silver micro-glitter. It brings out the pink tones in my natural lip color but mostly adds shine and shimmer. This is a permanent shade. When I first swatched this, it seemed a little darker than what I remembered the shade being, and it actually is a step darker. It’s similar to Chanel Aragonite.
- Get Rich Quick is a medium-dark, orange-toned brown with gold sparkle. This is a permanent shade. MAC Bright & Perky is a bit darker and browner.

MAC Richly Revered Cremesheen Glass
MAC Semi-Precious Cremesheen Glass Swatches, Photos, Reviews
MAC Semi-Precious Cremesheen Glass ($18.50 for 0.08 oz.) includes five, limited edition shades: Geo Pink (strawberry pink), Looks Like Sin (mid-tone reddish plum), Natural Flare (light caramel nude), Pure Magnificence (light grey pink), and Richly Revered (deep brown plum).
- Geo Pink is a semi-opaque, orange-coral with soft, white-pink shimmer. I really don’t get “strawberry pink” with this. It’s much brighter and more orange-based than anything else. I even double-checked, but it’s really this orange on me. It’s like a richer, deeper MAC Fold and Tuck and rather comparable to MAC So Bad.
- Looks Like Sin is a sheer plum with a glossy sheen. This is a repromoted shade. I couldn’t think of dupes for this shade.
- Natural Flare is a semi-opaque, medium-dark, peach brown with white shimmer. It’s darker than Burberry Cameo and more pigmented than MAC Utterly Posh. It has a similar, but lighter, color base to MAC Stealing Kisses, less orange than MAC Light That Fire, and less orange/red than MAC Kumquat.
- Pure Magnificence is a sheer, milky pastel pink with a cool undertone. I can see why MAC Described this as a “grey pink.” Urban Decay Peroxide is a little bluer-based but similar in overall look. MAC Boy Bait also seems like it would be rather similar to this.
- Richly Revered is a semi-sheer, dark, vampy plum-red with a glossy shine. It is very similar to NARS Nana.
They also tend to be creamier colors, rather than packed with shimmer, but that’s not quite the case here, as both Geo Pink and Natural Flare have plenty of shimmer. I’m not a big fan of the price point/quantity of these–a mere 0.08 oz., whereas lipglass contains 0.17 oz.

FINAL THOUGHTS
These definitely seem like fall colors to me, which isn't a bad thing, as this is a fall collection. It was kind of weird to see such shimmered Cremesheen Glasses, too!

MAC Cremesheen Glasses: You’ve Got It, On the Scene, Fashion Whim, Chillin’, Right Image, Going Casual
MAC In the Groove Collection: Cremesheen Glasses
In the Groove launches on the 8th, and it contains six new and limited edition shades of Cremesheen Glass–a thin, non-sticky, sheer gloss. They coordinate rather obviously with the majority of the lipsticks, with the exception of Chillin’ which doesn’t quite align with any of the lipsticks from this launch.
- You’ve Got It is a subtle grayish brown with multicolored shimmer, predominantly white, though. It has that same mushroom-y look as Call My Bluff lipstick, so it would pair well with that. It would also wash out any of the other brighter shades a bit, too. It’s like a lighter, non-sticky version of Chai lipglass. It’s semi-sheer on lips–it tones down my natural color a bit and makes it look rather nude/washed out almost. Definitely not very brown on lips.
- On the Scene is a light orange-peach with subtle white shimmer. I know someone is going to ask me if I’m sure I didn’t mess the swatches up, but On the Scene looks incredibly similar to Fashion Whim when applied to [my] lips. I’m not even joking. I put them on side by side to make sure, and I couldn’t tell. On the Scene is just barely warmer than Fashion Whim. On the full-face, you can see the way one is warmer, one is cooler. At first, I thought it was like Ember Glow, but on lips it’s a little different.
- Fashion Whim is a light peach with pale gold shimmer. This is like a pinky nude that goes on semi-opaque . It’s kind of like Creme d’Nude in lipgloss form, or else a pinker version of C-Thru lipglass. It’s a little milky on my lips, so it has a tendency to emphasize lip lines.
- Chillin’ is a very light, pale cloudy blue. On lips, it really just like a milky cool-toned white with multi-colored shimmer. I think it may be nice to use to add glossiness and a bring out the cool tones of a lipstick. If you were hoping for a truer blue or something pigmented, this isn’t it.
- Right Image is a neutral-yellow pink with white shimmer. It’s just a pretty medium pink that applies semi-opaque with pink and white shimmer. Even though it’s pretty, you may own something similar.
- Going Casual is a cool-toned, blue-based pink with iridescent purple and white shimmer–almost leans a little purple. It has a very milky look and does settle into my lip lines.

MAC Cremesheen Glass: Double Dare, Richer Lusher, Partial to Pink, Just Superb (x2),
Fashion Scoop, Deelight, Over Indulgence, Boy Bait
MAC Too Fabulous: Cremesheen Glass Reviews, Photos, Swatches, Lip Swatches
Cremesheen Glass is a creamy, milkier kind of gloss that’s creamy without being overly thick. Cremesheen glass is vanilla-scented and a non-sticky gloss that tends to be sheerer when applied to lips. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few more pigmented shades included in the launch (and now added to the permanent range, from what I have been told), like Double Dare. These are packaged in the lengthened tube like Dazzleglass, and they don’t contain nearly as much product as traditional lipglass and lustreglass do (0.08 oz. vs. 0.17 oz.) and are $4 more.
Update: Loud & Lovely review, photos, swatches, and so forth now included!
3/4/10
My favorites are Double Dare and Richer, Lusher! What are yours?
Cremesheen Glass ($18.00)
- Partial to Pink is a yellow-pink with subtle gold shimmer. On my lips, it looks like a milky baby pink with decent coverage but still a bit sheer. This is a repromoted shade.
- Double Dare is a slightly toned-down creamy red with no real shimmer. Once applied, it looks like an almost coral-red with a very glossy finish. Kind of makes me think “juicy.”
- Just Superb is a neutral pink that might lean just a smidgen blue-pink, but it’s fairly neutral. It looks a lot like Partial to Pink, but more muted, on my lips.
- Richer, Lusher is a creamy, peach coral. Despite looking so rich when swatched on skin, once on my lips, it gives them a very light, pinky-peach look, but definitely nothing like the tube!
- Fashion Scoop is a sheer, shimmered icy blue-pink. When I applied this to my lips, it gave me a paler, milkier pink lip with noticeable shimmer (this is one of the more shimmery shades of Cremesheen Glass). This is a repromoted shade.
- Over Indulgence is a creamy, kind of milky, slightly warmed-up brown. Though it looks rather brown in the swatch, on my lips it’s surprisingly wearable–it’s like a muted peachy-brown on my lips.
- Boy Bait is a creamy peachy nude. I know this is a favorite amongst fans of Cremesheen Glass, but it doesn’t do much on my lips — kind of a creamy look, but seems to emphasize my lip lines. This is a repromote.
- Deelight is a milky, muted plum. This looks very natural on my lips, because my lips are naturally a pinked plum with a little bit of corpse thrown in.
- Loud & Lovely is a brightened medium-deep pink that goes on semi-sheer–it’s not an opaque gloss (I was kind of anticipating coverage like Double Dare), but it does give more color than the average Cremesheen Glass.
