MAC Pink Cult Blush
MAC Pink Cult Blush

MAC Jeanius: Pink Cult

MAC Pink Cult Blush ($19.50 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone neutral pink” with a matte finish. It’s a soft, neutral rose pink with a matte finish–it’s not cool-toned or warm-toned, but beautifully neutral. It has excellent color pay off, despite the lightness of the shade itself. If you like blushes like Blushbaby, I think you’ll enjoy this one. It’s not a dupe, as this is most definitely pink (and Blushbaby is more nude), but they have similar effects–a soft, subtle color that never looks overdone. To me, it is a softer, pinker version of Breath of Plum.

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5

final thoughts: I think this will be a very flattering blush on light to medium skin tones; with it being a little on the pale side for darker skin tones. The neutral undertones make it wearable for both cool and warm skin tones, too.

MAC Overdyed Blush
MAC Overdyed Blush

MAC Jeanius: Overdyed

MAC Overdyed Blush ($19.50 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “bright magenta” and has a satin finish. It actually seems more like a muted magenta to me–it’s by no means dull, but it’s not in-your-face magenta, either. There are cool undertones running through it, but it is not as strong of a blue base as some other magenta shades. When I wore it, it looked almost like a plummed magenta on my cheeks. Overdyed as nicely pigmented, easy to blend, and wore all day for me.

final thoughts: This has to be one of the more wearable shades of magenta I’ve seen.  For that reason, I think this shade will appeal to a lot of people.  The pigmentation makes it suitable for darker skin tones, while the subtle cool undertones make it wearable for warmer skin tones, too!

MAC Mighty Aphrodite Blush Duo
MAC Mighty Aphrodite Blush Duo

MAC MIGHTY APHRODITE BLUSH DUO ($24.00 for 0.38 oz.) is described as a warm peach coral with gold pearl and bright coral pink with gold pearl.

The blush itself is super-sized, being about the size as a Beauty Powder. A normal blush is 0.21 oz. ($18.50), while this is almost double the quantity. In comparable terms, the normal size is $88/oz. and the mega size is $63/oz. Despite the larger size, the way they split the blush still makes it a little difficult to use the smaller shade alone (I tried using the 116–you have to be careful, not a lot of room).

The larger side of the blush is a pinked coral with peach shimmer-sheen; it reminded me of the darker half of Ripe Peach, actually. The smaller side of the blush is a dark red-coral with pink and a satin sheen.

final thoughts: This duo will suit warmer complexions better out of the two blushes, but I think this one would work well on both cool and warm skin tones.

MAC Amazon Princess Blush Duo
MAC Amazon Princess Blush Duo

MAC AMAZON PRINCESS BLUSH DUO ($24.00 for 0.38 oz.) is described as a bright yellow pink and deep blue pink with gold pearl. The official descritpion baffles me, honestly!

The larger side of the blush is a cool-toned, blue-based magenta pink with a satin finish, which is very pigmented and easy to over-do, so use a light hand. The smaller side of the blush is a dark berried pink with soft gold sheen, and it is also nicely pigmented.

final thoughts: This will suit cooler skin tones, because of the stronger blue-base in the magenta shade. Because of the intensity of the colors, it will work beautifully on darker complexions.

MAC Sur Blush
MAC Sur Blush

MAC Mickey Contractor: Sur Blush

MAC Sur Blush ($18.50 for 0.21 oz.) is new and limited edition blush from MAC Mickey Contractor. MAC describes it as a “dirty rose brown” with a satin finish. When I swatched, I found Sur to be a rosied brown with a pearly sheen. It’s a really nice natural blusher–it’ll give your cheeks a little oh-la-la and dimension without too much color. I see this working well on light to medium-dark skin tones; darkest skin tones may find it gets lost when used.

It seems quite comparable to Notable (Makeup Art Cosmetics, ’09)–possibly a touch lighter and with a more noticeable sheen. It seems similar to Blushbaby, too, though browner.

P.S. — On eyes, I am wearing Jaan eyeshadow on the lid, Vivah eyeshadow on the outer lid/crease, Folie in the crease, Burberry Trench to highlight, Ivy fluidline on upper lash line, Urban Decay Perversion on lower water line, Jaan eyeshadow on lower lash line. On lips, I am wearing Yash lipstick with Lust lipglass on top. On cheeks, I am wearing Sur Blush.

MAC Mickey Contractor will be available on January 6th at select North American stores and January 2011 for select international stores. It will be available online on approximately January 4th but may not be available until the 6th.

  • Product: 28/30
  • Value: 8/10

FINAL THOUGHTS: It’s a very easy, everyday kind of blush that’s everyday without adding color but more about definition and dimension.  It does add some color, don’t get me wrong, but it’s very natural.

MAC Gana Blush
MAC Gana Blush

MAC Mickey Contractor: Gana Blush

MAC Gana Blush ($18.50 for 0.21 oz.) is new and limited edition blush from MAC Mickey Contractor. MAC describes it as a “bright white gold” with a frost finish. When I swatched, I found Gana to be a gilded champagne with a bright sheen–slightly frosty but more of a sheen. I like it better as a highlighter than a blush, just because it seems to make me look a bit washed out when used as a blusher. It has a very soft, smooth texture and plenty of pigment.

I’ll have to do a comparison to be sure, but this seems similar to Trace Gold, which is part of the permanent line; the biggest difference seems in the texture–this is smoother, more sheen than shimmer.

On cheeks, I am wearing Gana blush.

MAC Mickey Contractor will be available on January 6th at select North American stores and January 2011 for select international stores. It will be available online on approximately January 4th but may not be available until the 6th.

  • Product: 27/30
  • Value: 8/10

FINAL THOUGHTS: If you sheer it out enough, it could work as a very soft, all-over-glow kind of product, but it is easier to use it as a highlighter where you need it.
