MAC Fluidlines
MAC Dark Diversion Fluidline

MAC Stylishly Yours: Dark Diversion Fluidlines

MAC Fluidlines ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) sees the launch of one new and limited edition shade: Dark Diversion (blackened plum). Blacktrack (flat black) is also be repromoted alongside it.  Fluidlines are gel eyeliners that are best applied with an eyeliner brush (I prefer the 208, because of how thin and precise you can line with it).  They’re creamy and apply opaquely without a lot of product or needing layering.  For me, they last all day long and never budge or smudge.

Please note that I do not own Macroviolet so I can not make a comparison for you.  All I can say is they look similar but Dark Diversion seems browner and a little darker.  Without owning it, I really can’t make a fair assessment of it.

  • Blacktrack is a matte black.  This is a permanent shade.  You can see a review and swatch for it here.
  • Dark Diversion is a darkened burgundy-brown with berry-wine undertones and subtle berry micro-shimmer.  This is a new and limited edition shade.

MAC Stylishly Yours collection is a limited edition launch (official information and photos here) that is set to launch in-stores on December 26th in North America, January 2011 for international MAC locations. The approximate launch date for online is December 24th.

Dare to Wear Look: Yellow, Coral, Red

If there is one beauty lesson I cannot seem to learn is to remove mascara before doing a look!  Argh!  I always do this — have mascara on for some other purpose, decide to do a look, but don’t want to waste time (aka being lazy) removing mascara and then waiting for the area to dry (don’t want to apply eyeshadow base on top of remover… counterproductive!)… and then the mascara looks all clumpy and yuck at the end.  No more being lazy!

I did upper lash liner because I know some will be disappointed otherwise if they saw this look sans the liner.  I was just playing around with the combo last night anyway, so removing it after ten minutes wasn’t going to break my heart so it worked out :)  Well, except for the minor swelling this AM, lol!

You can easily pair this look with a toned down coral, pink, or even nude lip.  I went for the gusto and used Gimme That! but it’s not necessary.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Going Bananas eyeshadow on the lower half of the lid. Lightly blend Free to Be eyeshadow on the middle of the lid, horizontally, with the 239. Apply Louder, Please eyeshadow on the outer half of the crease with the 239 and lightly blend upwards.  Blend Trench eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Zero liner on the lower lash line and Blacktrack fluidline on the upper lash line with the 208. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara. Add false lashes if desired.

For cheeks, apply #15 Natural blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116, then lightly pat Mary Lou-manizer on the cheekbones.

For lips, apply Gimme That! lipglass for a complementing lip.

Bright Makeup: Yellow, Pink, & Purple

I felt like playing around a bit last night, so I ended up with this at the end of playtime! Thought I’d share :) I normally pair this kind of look with bright pink lips, but I thought I’d try something a little more orange, just for fun, so there are two lip combos in this look.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Golden Lemon pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Goldenrod eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Bright Sunshine eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Passionate eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. With the 226, apply Beauty Marked eyeshadow into the outer crease, and then gently press Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow into the middle of the crease with the 239. Lightly tap and brush Bright Sunshine eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Blacktrack fluidline on the upper lash line, Blackline eyeliner on the outer half of the lower lash line and Bright Sunshine eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Opulash and Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Morange lipstick first, and then layer Venus glossimer for a complementing lip.  or try Schiap lipstick layered with Back to the Fuchsia lip shine.

Go fierce or go home! Dark, sultry smoky eyes with a hot pink edge paired with equally in-your-face pink lips.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Fuchsia pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Dollipop eyeshadow on the entire lower eyelid area. Darken the outer third of the lid with Bulletproof eyeshadow with the 226, gently brushing it into the outer crease. Lightly blend Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow, with the 226, in the crease. Lightly tap and brush Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Beautiful Iris eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone and inner tearduct. Bright Makeup: MAC Spring Colour Forecast Look #1

The unveiling party last night was really fun! It was so, so exciting to be able to meet several Temptalia readers while I was there, too. Big shout outs and lots of love to Rachael, Sam, Cynthia, Carol, and Melissa!! :) This is the look that I wore to the event… c’mon, I had to go bold! Azalea Blossom is really wearable, even on warmer skin tones – very soft and pretty… so spring.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply the light lavender pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Straw Harvest eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Lala eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Very Violet eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Very Violet eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Nanogold eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Nangold eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying El Dorado eyeliner on the lower lash line and Straw Harvest eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by lining the upper lash line with Blacktrack fluidline with the 208, and then sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Azalea Blossom blush ombre to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116. Highlight the cheekbones with Beige Lumineux with the 165.

For lips, apply Bubblegum lipstick first, and then layer Electric Fuchsia lipglass for a complementing lip.

Glitter Makeup: Stila Jewel Eye Palette Look

Just decided to have a little fun with Stila’s new glitter-tastic palette last night :) Didn’t have too much fall out — definitely apply less than you think you need, and then build up if you need to. (I tried two techniques – one on each eye; nearly no fall out on the latter technique!)  It definitely has a bit of a wet look to it – very shimmering – but not so easy to capture in a still photo.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. With the 249, apply Blacktrack fluidline all over the lid portion. Using the 239, apply Black Diamond eyeshadow on the eyelid. Next, apply Rose Quartz eyeshadow in the crease and slightly above with the 239. With the 239, lightly apply Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow into the crease to add a pop of color. Lightly tap and brush Beautiful Iris eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Hush eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lust eyeliner on the lower lash line, and Beautiful Iris eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Exceptionnel mascara.

For cheeks, apply Unrequited blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply BE 109 lipstick first, and then layer Dubai Gloss for a complementing lip.
