MAC Royal Sunset Blush
MAC Royal Sunset Blush

MAC Royal Sunset Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “soft cool peach [with a satin finish].” It’s a warm-toned pink with a hint of coral and a satiny sheen. MAC Legendary is less pink, darker. MAC Launch Away is lighter, pinker. Dior Pink Happiness is darker. Chanel Fleur de Lotus is warmer, more shimmery. See comparison swatches.

Royal Sunset had good color payoff and was buildable, blendable, and easy to use. It didn’t look powdery on the skin, and the satin finish didn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s natural texture. It lasted eight hours well on me, which is slightly longer than average for MAC’s satin blushes in my experience. The texture was soft, smooth, and finely-milled. The satin finish looks matte initially, but the more you buff the blush into the skin, the more glowy the finish becomes. MAC paired the warmer, more orange-inspired hues of this collection with grays, and as some readers were uncertain about how everything would work together, I did want to show how they come together (the combination of the quad, blush, and lipstick doesn’t work on my skin tone).

MAC Honey Jasmine Blush
MAC Honey Jasmine Blush

MAC Honey Jasmine Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “soft warm coral [with a satin finish].” It’s a medium orange with subtle warm, yellow undertones and a barely-there satin sheen. Chanel Espiegle is more frosted, less orange. Chanel Frivole is much darker, redder. Illamasqua Rude is redder. MAC Blazing Haute is more orange, lighter. MAC Warmth of Coral is more frosted. MAC Cream Soda is lighter. NARS Gina is slightly browner, a touch darker. See comparison swatches.

When MAC puts out a highly pigmented satin-finish blush, it’s always a reason to celebrate.  Honey Jasmine has buildable, true-to-pan color payoff that can be as intense or as subtle as you’d like.  The texture is soft, finely-milled, and applies smoothly without looking powdery on the skin.  The more you blend and buff the blush into the skin, the more the satin sheen comes through.  It never becomes too much, so it doesn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s natural texture.  Honey Jasmine wore well for seven hours, and I noticed some slight fading along the edges after eight hours of wear.
