L’Oreal Endless Pearl In 24HR Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.95 for 0.14 oz.) is a pale beige with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good color payoff, but it has the kind of texture that works best dry, as it tends to crumble and stick to itself when applied wet (so it doesn’t apply as smoothly). Dry, it can be somewhat powdery and may look chalky on darker complexions. This is a shade you’ll find across brands, but it’s a great basic shade that works well as a highlighter on lighter complexions or as a neutralizing color to sweep over the lid to even out their color. Bobbi Brown Ivory, MAC Shroom (warmer, satiny), Urban Decay Walk of Shame, Wet ‘n’ Wild Drinking a Glass of Shine #5, Urban Decay Anonymous (satiny), theBalm Adagio, and MAC Brule are all rather similar.
Dive Right In is an iridescent aqua blue with a frosted, metallic sheen. It had so-so color payoff when applied dry and was semi-opaque when applied damp–it was smoother when applied damp as well. This shade creased on me noticeably after eight hours of wear (no primer). This is a limited edition shade, so you’ll likely have to find it at a local drugstore (I received this as a press sample; the other two shades I purchased myself). Giorgio Armani #10 is more silvered. Make Up For Ever #150 is bluer, less iridescent. Giorgio Armani Ecailles Black Pearl #3 is much darker.
Infinite Sky is a cool-toned, medium-dark silver-shimmered blue. Applied dry, it is sheerer, while it intensifies when applied damp–and the frosted sheen becomes more pronounced as well. MAC Dimensional Blue is a smidgen lighter. MAC Moon’s Reflection is a touch darker. Urban Decay Mary Jane is bluer.
I didn’t have any wear issues with either Endless Pearl or Infinite Sky, but Dive Right In did crease noticeably after only eight hours of wear (and these are 24-hour wear, technically). I tested all three shades for a total of fourteen hours, and the other two looked about the same as when I had applied them (no fading or creasing). The texture of the three were consistent; soft, finely-milled, and mostly smooth. Endless Pearl has such a matte finish that wet application didn’t go well compared to a lot of the shimmery shades in the range (and this wasn’t unexpected–a lot of products with matte finishes don’t turn out well if applied wet).

L’Oreal Cherie Merie Infallible 24HR Eyeshadow ($8.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark coral-orange with a soft, frosted finish. Applied dry, it had semi-opaque color payoff–it had some color but looked softer, muted, and then applied with a damp brush, the color intensified and smoothed out better to deliver more opaque color payoff. The texture was soft, smooth, and finely-milled. MAC Daydreaming is similar but more reflective in finish. Jasmine Arabian Sunset is slightly more orange. Guerlain Coup de Foudre #2 is more orange. bareMinerals Smash Hit is less shimmery and muted.
L’Oreal Strawberry Blonde Infallible 24HR Eyeshadow ($8.99 for 0.12 oz.) is an iridescent pale pink. It’s sheer whether applied dry or damp, but it’s almost worst when applied damp because it gets very, very clumpy. It gives my lids a very scaly, crinkled look. I’d actually recommend applying this with fingertips or a sponge-tipped applicator; something where you can really crush the powder. MAC Opalesse is similar but smoother, slightly cooler-toned. MAC Ready to Party is more lavender. Dior Aurora #3 is very similar. Tarina Tarantino Diamond Dusk #2 is also comparable.
L’Oreal With a Twist Infallible 24HR Eyeshadow ($8.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a pink-toned lavender with a frosted, metallic finish. Applied dry, it had semi-opaque color payoff; enough punch to be noticeable but not as intense and rich-looking as when applied damp. It was a little clumpy, though, when dampened, so press firmly against the lid to minimize this transferring onto the lids. Make Up For Ever #54 is purpler, less pink (and a cream product). Guerlain Attrape-Coeur #4 is lighter. Urban Decay Grifter is slightly pinker. NARS Marie-Galante #1 is similar in color but is sheerer so it’s not quite a dupe. Benefit Fancy Pansy is cooler-toned.
Cherie Merie was the top performer from these three, while Strawberry Blonde was pretty in the pot, it was a pain to use and very unflattering on the lid. With a Twist fell somewhere between the two as it was easier to apply and use than Strawberry Blonde but not as easy to apply as Cherie Merie. I wore the three together, and they lasted twelve hours well, but I did see some very slight fading with Cherie Merie and fall out from Strawberry Blonde.
P.S. — These have been a pain to find locally, but I was able to obtain press samples for review–I’ve looked for weeks and haven’t spotted them at any of the drugstores near me.
Cherie Merie was the top performer from these three. The texture was soft, smooth, and finely-milled.

To complement Gold Imperial, Primped & Precious is the cool-toned, silver equivalent. It’s just bright enough to be silver, but there’s enough gray in the color to keep it from being too stark or metallic. When applied dry, it is a bit sheer and crumbly. When applied damp, it binds together much better and delivers richer payoff. When I wore this, it lasted for ten hours without fading, creasing, or suffering from fall out. (I did have some fall out during application when I tried using it dry.)
Of the three new (and limited edition) holiday Infallible Eyeshadows, this one was the weakest. Silver is not an uncommon color, so you might want to opt for a stronger formula.

L’Oreal Gold Imperial Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.49 for 0.12 oz.) is a metallic, yellow gold. There’s a slightly subdued quality to the overall color–by a little brown–that keeps it from being a yellow/orange kind of gold. This is why it’s not the same as L’Oreal’s Eternal Sunshine,, though if you rarely wear gold, one will do; or, if you find that Eternal Sunshine turns orange-y, you might prefer Gold Imperial. Chanel Apprence is browner. Urban Decay Blitz is very similar–less metallic. MAC Sweet & Sour is yellower.
If you love sparkling, shimmering, and high-shine finishes, Gold Imperial is exactly that. It’s really a dead-on holiday kind of finish; all glitz and glam. One of the best things about this product is that for as sparkly as it is, I didn’t have problems with fall out. It applies mostly opaque, and after twelve hours of wear, I didn’t spot any creasing or fading–and that was on its lonesome (no primer). Because of its high-frost, high-shine finish, it can emphasize any imperfections on the skin where you apply it, including dry areas and lines.
If ever there was an occasion that merited finding the most sparkly finishes on the planet, it is the holidays. This is a fantastic way to impart a lovely metallic shadow without breaking the bank!

I snagged this at my local CVS last week, and I’m in love! It’s incredibly soft, finely-milled, and smooth but the finish is high-frost, high-shine. It’s also absolutely dazzling and sparkling and all things magic during the holidays. If ever there was an occasion that merited finding the most sparkly finishes on the planet, it is the holidays. The pigmentation is excellent, whether you use it wet or dry, you’ll get full coverage. If you apply it damp, you’ll find the metallic finish is more prominent, while when used dry, it’s a combination of metallic and frost. I tested this shade, and it lasted for the twelve hours I wore it without fading or creasing (no base).
To make it less metallic, pat a matte eyeshadow on top (something beige and neutral works, or something of a similar color). Also worth noting: because of the extremely metallic, frosted finish, it can emphasize dryness on the eyes.

Eternal Sunshine had excellent color payoff, and it applied smoothly and evenly both wet and dry. When applied damp or wet, the metallic finish is more prominent, whereas when applied dry, it has more of a frosted look with less of a reflective sheen. While these are advertised to wear for 24-hours, that’s a bit of a stretch, but I did put this shade to the test for sixteen hours. It wore beautifully–no fading, no creasing.
One of the best-performing shades in the L'Oreal Infallible range! It's a great gold that doesn't turn orange, so it will work on both warm and cool complexions with ease.
