It has mostly opaque color coverage, and the consistency was creamy enough that the lipstick glided across the lips without pulling or tugging but not so creamy that it felt thick or was prone to creating lines of demarcation once applied. Raspberry Swirl lasted four hours on me, and it was neither drying nor hydrating (but this is an improvement, as many Cremesheens are a bit drying on me). It definitely felt creamier than other Cremesheens I’ve tried. I noticed that this color did pull the yellow out of my teeth, which this kind of color can sometimes do. I think that MAC does this color quite a bit, some are closer to this than others, but there are many variations of it and most of them are by MAC.

The color payoff is mostly opaque with a very faint translucency. It had a lightly creamy, glide-on texture that applied evenly, smoothly, and didn’t pull or tug on the lips. Tolede lasted for four and a half hours, just above average, and was actually lightly hydrating during the time I wore it. While several pieces from NARS’ summer collection are rather bright and bold, Tolede is a great everyday shade that I see working on many skin tones. I think it’s a bit of a sleeper–not as eye-catching as other products in the launch but something you may reach for often.

The Larger Than Life formula is supposed to have “high shine” with “intense color” and be both “long-lasting” and “nourish[ing].” The color is nearly opaque, and what’s really incredible is how it doesn’t settle into lip lines at all–it really just smooths over the entire lip and makes lips look very juicy and glossy. It has a thinner consistency that wasn’t tacky, and it was comfortable to wear for the five hours it lasted on my lips. Paris Follies was moderately hydrating while I wore it. The only thing I don’t like about NARS’ gloss here is the teeny, tiny applicator–I need five or six pulls just to get enough product to cover my lips. I find that I always end up feeling the edge of the plastic portion of the applicator scraping against my lips, because the brush is so stubby.
I love how creamy, smooth, and glossy the color looks on the lips--it is really quite lovely! I only wish the applicator was easier to use.

MAC Glace Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm ($19.50 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “creamy pale baby blue.” In the tube, it’s a cloudy, pale blue with iridescent pink-copper shimmer. It’s actually very, very similar to MAC Chillin’, except Chillin‘ is a bit milkier. MAC Ethereal is more shimmery.
On lips, it cancels out some of my natural lip color and gives it a cooler cast while adding a touch of shimmer and general milkiness. It’s not like you’re wearing a bright blue gloss, though (which may have been what you were wanting or may have been what was keeping you away!). The formula is only supposed to give a tint of color along with a high shine, while being incredibly moisturizing. It’s so-so in the hydration department–enough that lips feel nourished while worn, but the formula doesn’t impart any long-lasting hydration. The color payoff is sheer but gives lips a milky appearance while allowing the natural lip color to come through. Glace wore for three hours, and the texture was just a touch tacky from the start and gradually became tackier as it wore on.

This formula is supposed to “[add] moisture while providing the right pop of color and mirror-like shine.” It has a thicker consistency (somewhere between Lipglass and Lustreglass), a slight tackiness, which gets tackier the longer you wear it, and is slightly hydrating but doesn’t replace other standalone lip balms I’ve used. Baking Beauty has semi-sheer color payoff, though it generally translates to more of a nude-ish shade on my lips, you can see how much “covers” my lip freckle to get a better grasp on the coverage. It only wore two hours on me, which was shorter than I’ve experienced with the original release of shades

It has semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff, and it applies somewhat evenly, but it pulls and settles into lip lines. This one wore that way, too, where the color migrated and gathered into the creases of the lip while it wore. Devil’s Food lasted just over four hours on me, which is about average. It was a bit drying, though, which wasn’t surprising, given the consistency wasn’t as creamy as it could have been and did tug slightly at lips during application.
