Dolce & Gabbana Ruby Shine Lipstick ($30.00) is a beautiful, shimmery raspberry red lip color. It’s a semi-sheer lipstick formula, but I actually found it to be quite opaque. I mean, if this is semi-sheer, I wish all semi-sheer lipsticks were gave me this kind of coverage! 
It has lovely pinky-raspberry shimmer that’s subtle but still sparkles in the light. The feeling, texture, and payoff of this lipstick reminds me a bit of Guerlain’s Rouge G formula (and it’s $15 less!)–smooth, moisturizing, and even.

LORAC Leading Lady Lipstick
($22.00) is a creamy, nearly neutral red (runs slightly orange-red) with a very bright sheen (more sheen than glossiness). It applies easily and well, and you can get an opaque look in just two or three layers.
The lipstick formula contains “SMS Complex,” which is an anti-aging ingredient that “neutralizes and prevents the signs of aging by helping to stimulate collagen production and promote cell turnover.” Can’t tell you if any of that is true, but since the price tag is $22 and not $30 just because there is “anti-aging” ingredients in it, it’s like an added bonus if it does work.
But I can tell you this was a moisturizing lipstick that wore very well throughout the day! I found I got a good five or six hours of wear in this, and after it wore off through a meal, there was a slightly reddish stain that was left behind.

MAC Russian Red Lipglass

MAC Russian Red Lipglass ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a nearly opaque bright cherry red lipgloss. It’s a beautiful shimmer-less shade of red that goes on easily. MAC’s Lipglass is one of the tackier lipglosses on the market, which is something that I don’t mind–particularly because it tends to last much longer on my lips than the average lipglass. I find Lipglass lasts me around four hours or so, which is good time for a gloss. Russian Red Lipglass is really a classic MAC gloss — if you are at all a red fan, this is definitely one you should consider owning.

Lancome Absolute Rouge Lipstick
($29.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a creamy bright red with just a hint of orange in it. It’s part of the L’Absolu Rouge line-up, which is Lancome’s more luxe lipstick–it has Pro-Xylane, which is a “complete and powerful replenishing molecule.” One of the cornerstones of the L’Absolu Rouge line-up is “rich, satiny, saturated color,” as well.
This is definitely a very creamy, smooth lipstick that goes on easily and looks opaque in just one layer. I found this one didn’t bleed on me (though not too much does, just a heads up–I’m not the best person to test for that!), and I found it pretty easy to get a defined look without a lip brush. I’d say this lipstick lives up to a lot of the claims Lancome makes — the shade is richly pigmented, has a beautiful satiny look, and there’s no way to say this color isn’t saturated.
It’s also very moisturizing without having a lot of slip. I’ve noticed that some lipsticks that are very moisturizing also glide and move around a bit–and may even have a tendency to bleed–but this one stays put. I get about five or six hours of wear with this shade, too!

MAC Dubonnet Lipstick
The Scarlet Season: MAC Dubonnet Lipstick
MAC Dubonnet Lipstick ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a rich, deep shade of red with more of a brownish tone. It’s not really a blue-based red, nor an orange-based red–it’s truly one of those shades that works well on many skin tones. (Kind of like MAC’s Viva Glam I Lipstick!) It has a redder, richer look than VGI, plus it has the glossy sheen (though no shimmer). It applies opaque in just one layer, and it clings to lips without being drying. It holds up and wears for a good four or five hours and afterward, it does leave a slight stain behind. Definitely one of MAC’s must-haves!

Lancome Mercury Rising Color Fever Gloss
($25.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a semi-sheer red with deep red shimmer. It’s a non-sticky gloss that feels moisturizing and lightweight on lips. On me, I found it gave me about three or four hours of wear without touch-ups, which is about average. This is beautiful on its own for a hint of red, but it can also be layered over a lipstick to give it a glossier, slightly shimmered look. It has Lancome’s signature lip applicator, which always reminds me of a bubble-blowing wand! I do like how it applies fairly evenly without having to work at it, too.
