Putting together a list of favorites from 2012 wasn’t easy, but it’s one thing I really enjoy about the end of year: reading everyone else’s top picks for the year. It’s interesting to see what products stood out among a deluge of products. I forget where I read but know it was recently: over 8,000 beauty products launch each year (what!), which is both cringe-worthy (how can one ever keep track and try it all?) and incredible (there will never be a day without something new to write about!).
How has your weekend been going? Does it feel like a whirlwind month to you at all? I feel like December just skipped on by like it was never really here! I think I’m going to try and do some kind of glittery NYE nails later on today. What about you?
How are you? What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done this weekend (so far)? We had dim sum with my family yesterday!
In the spirit of holiday giving: The always-generous Brooke introduced me (along with the rest of her viewers) to the Family Giving Tree, which has a virtual giving tree. You can “sponsor this child” and provide the funds for a specific toy on their holiday wish list that FGT will purchase for them. The toys range from $20-30. This is a great 501(c)(3) charity that’s been around for over twenty years (see their profile on Charity Navigator).
What do you love most about December? I love the music, store displays, and all of the lights people put on their houses. I love seeing huge, two-story-tall trees lit up behind living room windows (and am terribly jealous I cannot have a 12 foot tree).
What is your favorite perfume to wear with the holidays? Tom Ford Oud Wood, but it’s really just my favorite year-round. I don’t have a particular scent just for the holidays. I do very much love all things cinnamon and spice (or pumpkin and spice) for candles and body washes, though.
Which 3 products can’t you live without this December? A warm, furry Mellan (keeps my feet warm), Starbucks’ Cranberry Bliss Bars (pure BLISS!), and our Christmas tree!
What is your go-to look this month? Glowy, highlighted cheeks.
What is your most favorite glittery product? I really digging Guerlain’s Liu shimmer spray in my hair. My hair twinkles!
Show us your favorite ornament from your Christmas Tree! Here you go.
Which candy are you going to eat too much of this month? If Starbucks’ Cranberry Bliss Bar counts, then that. I’m not much of a candy eater (though I eat plenty of sweets, just not candy ones).
What is your favorite December/Holiday related movie or TV show to watch? The Holiday
What do you really hope Santa has wrapped in a present for you this year? A pile of Christmas (lab) puppies in Santa hats. Not joking, I might keel over from glee if that happened.
The Holidays are all about sharing the love, who do you want to give a shout-out and why? Readers, friends, and family. The three branches of my ever-supportive tree.
How are you? How was your Saturday? Did you do anything fun or do you have something planned for today? We’re bound and determined (and we just might be bound) to hang some Christmas lights on the house today, rain or shine. The other non-blogging-related-task I really want to get done is hang up all my earrings, because the collection I’ve accumulated on my desk is just embarrassing! I have a good feeling today is going to be particularly productive, and I’m looking forward to it. Sometimes the rain (that’s our winter) derails my productivity–I already have two bright white floor lamps in my room but I think I need even more light to combat the dreary gray outside my window.

How are you? How’s your weekend been? What has been the most exciting thing you’ve done? I can’t believe it’s December! I can’t believe 2012 is almost gone. We had brunch earlier (veggie omelet for me), and we’re hoping to decorate the exterior of the house a bit for the holidays–well, attempt to do so, anyway.
I spent my Saturday making Mellan miserable, aka gave him a bath and washed his bed cover. He can’t even wait for it to dry; he had to curl up (damp and all) on the innards of his bed. Sometimes I think he likes his bath, other times I don’t know. As soon as I turn on the water, he’ll come running and will jump in, but he never looks all that happy once he’s in the tub. In case anyone’s looking for a rec, I highly recommend Earthbath Oatmeal & Aloe shampoo. One of my favorite characteristics is that it has a nice, natural scent (nothing synthetic or perfume-y) that lasts two weeks or so (on Mellan, who is mostly an indoor dog).
