Laura Mercier Polished Radiant Creme Blush

Laura Mercier Polished Collection:  Radiant Creme Colour — Cream Highlighter

Laura Mercier Polished Radiant Creme Colour ($35.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a gorgeous cream highlighter that goes on champagne-pink. Even though it looks like there are three separate shades, it’s hard to just get one, and so I’d say it’s really designed to be used swirled together. I really love the way all of the shades come together and create something that’s subtle and incredibly illuminating. It’s soft, lightweight, and it wears well. I didn’t find it faded or migrated during the eight hour test I put it to!

I wore it a few days ago in this look, and it really does make cheekbones pop! I applied the cream highlighter by tapping a stippling brush and lightly swirling and blending out towards my temples.   I will caution you if you’re going to be photographed a ton–go lightly and be sure to dust and set with a translucent powder.  It’s a beautiful sheen, but in flash photography, it can come off a little oily if you don’t use it subtly.

Laura Mercier Crystal Pink Lip Shine

Laura Mercier Polished Collection: Crystal Pink Lip Shine

Laura Mercier Crystal Pink Lip Shine ($22.00 for 0.14 oz.) is designed to be a lightweight “polish” with a glossy finish. It’s limited edition and part of Laura Mercier’s Polished Collection. It’s very much like lipgloss in a pot, to be honest. The texture and feel reminded me a lot of MAC’s Tendertones, actually.

On my lips, it goes on like a slightly bronzed pink shimmer. It gives some color, but it still acts much like a gloss–more shimmer than color–which is fine. It’s very moisturizing, feels nice on lips, and looks pretty for a quick lip. It doesn’t have much staying power (fades in about two hours or so), but I like it as a fancier lip balm, actually. It’s not something I’d reach for if I did heavier eye makeup or anything, but if I was just running out to errands, I’d consider wearing this to give my lips a little more oomph.

Pricing is fair, I’d say, relative to Laura Mercier’s price point. You get a good amount of product for your money, too.

I’m just not a fan of the packaging, because I personally find potted lip products to require lip brushes in order to remain hygienic. As germaphobic as I can be, I still tend to just make sure I wash my hands really well before slicking this on, because I really am too lazy to bother digging out a lip brush just to apply a product like this. Wish it came in tube form!

Laura Mercier Golden Brown Eyeshadow Duo

Laura Mercier Polished Collection: Eye Colour Duos in Golden Brown & Plum Spice

Laura Mercier Eye Colour Duos ($22.00 each, 0.09 oz. each) come in three different finishes: luster, matte, and sateen. From Laura Mercier’s Polished Collection, there are three new Colour Duos: Golden Brown (Luster), Cocoa Rose (Matte), and Plum Spice (Sateen). The new shades are–surprise, surprise–limited edition.

  • Golden Brown is a mix of a softened metallic gold and light bronze with copper-bronze sheen.
  • Plum Spice is a satiny smooth dirty peach and lightly shimmered dirty pinked plum.

Both duos had a very smooth, soft texture and the shadows swatched easily. Golden Brown had more color pigmentation and an even smoother feel than Plum Spice, which had more of a semi-sheer appearance and required some layering to get a higher intensity.

I think Laura Mercier fans will enjoy these limited edition shades, because both duos include colors that are easy to use, perfect for spring, and can be mixed with many products you may already own. If you’re more of a bright color eyeshadow kind of person, these probably weren’t designed with you in mind!

Everything I’ve tried from Laura Mercier has been all about creating soft, flattering looks with sheer or buildable color for everyday wear–these fit that philosophy to a T. I think this best describes the line (taken from the “about” section on her website): “She personally created the colors to satisfy the needs of her clients, based on a classic and always-current palette, rather than seasonal trends only.”

The duos actually contain a decent amount of product–it’s like you get enough to use in your lifetime, without having to invest a ton into it. By the ounce, Laura Mercier’s Eye Colour Duos are more affordable than MAC and just a little above Make Up For Ever eyeshadows. I’ve always liked her packaging–it’s kind of like a chocolate brown with bronzy shimmer/sparkles in the mix. Pretty, functional, and a little fun.
