69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Julie Bowen

A look at Julie Bowen as she walked the red carpet at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 15th, 2012.  Her makeup was done by makeup artist Heather Currie. Heather was completely inspired by Julie’s classic Reem Acra, peachy-champagne dress. To match her Grace Kelly-esque hair, Heather wanted to create an old Hollywood glam makeup moment with a neutral palette for the face and lips (with hints of pink) and defined, smoky eyes.

Makeup Breakdown

To create the base look, Heather started with an Armani foundation. Next, she applied L’Oréal Paris Magic Smooth Soufflé Blush in Celestial to the apples of Julie’s cheeks to create a radiant, natural and youthful glow

On the eyes, Heather created a winged tip eye with L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Black. She also used L’Oréal Paris Extra-Intense Carbon Black Eyeliner to precisely define the rest of the eyes. Heather used a sheer amount of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Continues Cocoa in the creases of Julie’s eyes. She then blended L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte and Eternal Sunshine to create a sultry, smoky eye effect. An extra dab of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte was used under the eyebrow line to add additional definition and depth

Lips were kept natural with a hint of color using L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Gloss in Golden Splash.

Hair Breakdown

Jill Crosby created a sleek and simple, low side ponytail for Bowen.

1. Begin by blowing out hair with the T3 Featherweight Luxe hair dryer and a round brush, building volume at the root. “The dryer gave her a lot of fullness including lift at the root which is important to the overall look,” explained Jill Crosby.
2. After drying hair completely, straighten hair with T3 SinglePass flat iron all the way to the end, leaving lift at the root. Once hair is sleek and straight, part hair down the middle and finger rake it back into a very low ponytail. Finger raking gives the hair a slightly textured, rougher look.
3. When tying the elastic band, pull the ponytail off center, keeping it tight to the neck. “I tied the ponytail off center just enough so it would fall around her shoulder.”
4. For extra support, pin the elastic and hair so the ponytail is locked down to the side of the head.
