69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Julianne Moore

A look at Julianne Moore as she walked the red carpet at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 15th, 2012. Her makeup was done by makeup artist Pati Dubroff for Clarins. On inspiration, Dubroff said, “I have been looking at a lot of photos of Sharon Tate lately and saw a striking resemblance – especially in profile – to Julianne. Her black Chanel gown was the perfect dress to put the makeup focus on the eyes. A definitive nod to the 60s shape with glowing skin and pale, sheer lips keep this look fresh and modern.”

Makeup Breakdown

I started by prepping the skin with Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate through the t-zone and applying Beauty Flash Balm on the neck and outer portions of the face. Next, I used a minimal amount of Skin Illusion Foundation just where she needed it and applied the Instant Light Brush On Perfector under the eyes and to brighten any shadows on the face. A light dusting of loose powder sets and holds the foundation for the long night ahead. The cheeks have a very minimal dusting of Blush Prodige in Lovely Rose; just to give a slight flush to the cheekbones.

The star of this show are the EYES. I first applied the Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base on the eye lid to even the tone and act as a cream shadow. I mixed the Grey and Brown Eye Pencils together on the back of my hand and then with a domed brush followed the shape of the eye, exaggerating the crease. Then I used a smaller brush, with the same pencil mix, along the lashline and extended the line outwards to lengthen and add drama. On top of the pencils, I used the matte shadow from the Pro Palette EyeBrow Kit for a matte base then used the medium tone in the crease and the darker grey in the corners. I even used the matte taupe shade in the kit to define the lower lash line. Next, I used the pale creamy shade in the Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Pastels in the center of the eyelid. Finally, I traced the whole eye in Instant Liner in Black to add further definition to the lash line. Just a few coats of Instant Definition Mascara in Black completed this sexy, dramatic eye.

The lips were kept easy and soft with a subtle lining with Lip Definer and Nude topped off with Color Quench Lip Balm in Peach Nectar.
