Jennifer Lawrence arrives at the 2011 Oscars on Sunday, February 27th. For the excitement of her first Oscars, Dove Celebrity Hairstylist Mark Townsend created a fresh and modern take on 40s waves to complement Best Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence’s stunning red Calvin Klein gown. “I always have my inspiration boards, but this look was inspired by Jennifer. She’s young and exuberant and full of life, so we showed off her gorgeous, shiny hair to match,” said Townsend.
“This look was all about Jennifer. She loves to wear her hair down, and her gown gave us this open platform for her hair and makeup. I started with damp hair and used a dime-sized amount of the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Serum to create soft and smooth hair. Next, I blew out the hair in sections with a round brush. Then I put in a drop of styling gel and set it in hot rollers. The rollers set for 30-35 minutes while she had her makeup done – although at home setting for just 15 is fine. You just want to make sure any dampness is gone.
I raked through Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-in Smoothing Cream after we took out the rollers to make it modern and shiny. I didn’t want it to be an 80s set! I sprayed Dove Flexible Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement (Aerosol) onto a flat, natural bristle brush and ran it through her hair. This helped give her hair a bit of memory so that it falls into place perfectly.
Then I spritzed just a bit of the Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist on the ends of her hair and took a 2 inch curling iron to shape the ends just slightly. finished off the look by spraying Dove Extra Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement (Aerosol) all over the hair. Her look has to last all through the night, and this will give her hair hold while still giving it movement. I sent her off with a mini brush and a small bottle of the Dove Extra Hold Hairspray. This look is all about softness and movement, and I told her not to be afraid to brush through it, through it over her shoulder and have fun!”
