Hourglass Imagine Extreme Sheen Lipgloss
Hourglass Imagine Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Imagine Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Imagine Extreme Sheen Lipgloss ($28.00 for 0.24 oz.) is described as a “peach champagne shimmer.” It’s a milky peach gloss with lots of peach and peach-gold shimmer. It doesn’t have a ton of color, but it does lighten and add some warmth to my natural lip color, along with lots of shimmer. MAC Naked Space is more pigmented and orange-toned. Dior Satin Peach has more color. NP Set Mauritius has a milkier color and more of a sheen. Cle de Peau #2 has more shimmer and sheen. Chanel Pin-up and MAC Nymphette are slightly pinker.

The Extreme Sheen formula is supposed to have high-shine, rich pigment, no feathering, and be moisturizing. The brand’s description is frustrating, because while some shades are most certainly intensely pigmented, many of the shades are sheer and seem sheer in a deliberate way. In this instance, Imagine is semi-opaque but my natural lip color peeks through because the pigmentation is primarily in the form of shimmer. On more pigmented lips, I would expect this to look rather different.

The texture is thick without being goopy, non-sticky, and moisturizing. It smells a little like creme brulee to me, lightly sweet but ont cloying. The wear is just under three hours, but the shimmer doesn’t feel gritty, and you won’t find it travels while you wear it either. The glossy shine is definitely there.

P.S. — I have the older tube, which is only 0.12 oz., but a Google search showed that the new tubes seem to have 0.24 oz., which makes sense given that the smaller tubes (same style packaging, just miniature) from holiday were 0.12 oz. each.

It's a pretty shade to enhance your natural lip color, and I think it'd be really lovely over more pigmented lips. This formula is comfortable to wear and hydrating, so it's a solid gloss to choose. It is fairly easy to dupe, though!

Hourglass Primal Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Primal Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Primal Extreme Sheen Lipgloss ($28.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a plum-tinged red with soft gold shimmer. It’s semi-sheer to semi-opaque on lips; close-up, it looks sheerer, but from further away, it seems to give the illusion of more coverage. It has the same rich texture of the other Extreme Sheen lipglosses, but this is the sheerest I’ve come across so far.

my thoughts on the formula: It is such a rich, luxurious gloss that applies nicely and doesn’t settle much into lips, given its darker and sheerer color. The formula is thick without being goopy, non-sticky, and very moisturizing. I get three to four hours of wear. There is a light, sweet scent–reminiscent of perhaps creme brulee–that doesn’t feel overwhelming nor smell synthetic.

final thoughts: The sheerer, darker color of this gloss makes it slightly more difficult to ensure an even layer. It’s interesting to see how many different finishes are found within the Extreme Sheen line-up, though. Wish they’d put more in each tube, though–0.12 oz. is below average.

Hourglass Nectar Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Nectar Extreme Sheen Lipgloss ($28.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened coral with subtle pink undertones. It applies nearly opaque, but it doesn’t apply as evenly as I’d like–close but there are still a few uneven areas. It has a high gloss finish with lots of shine and gives lips a rather juicy look from the creamy finish.

my thoughts on the formula: It is such a rich, luxurious gloss that applies beautifully and evenly while delivering opaque color with very little product. The formula is thick without being goopy, non-sticky, and very moisturizing. I get three to four hours of wear. There is a light, sweet scent–reminiscent of perhaps creme brulee–that doesn’t feel overwhelming nor smell synthetic.

final thoughts: Unfortunately for Nectar, Siren was the first Extreme Sheen I tried and such a dazzling shade at that, I find it hard to be as enthusiastic about Nectar as I was over Siren. Personal preferences and all that, you know!  If this applied more evenly, it would have been rated higher.

Hourglass Siren Extreme Sheen Lipgloss
Hourglass Siren Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Siren Extreme Sheen Lipgloss

Hourglass Siren Extreme Sheen Lipgloss ($28.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a wicked shade of fiery red with a part-chrome, part-metallic finish. It has a definite orange-base, but this the strength of the red really is pulled to the forefront. Think Kat Von D Adora… but more. It is such a rich, luxurious gloss that applies beautifully and evenly while delivering opaque color with very little product. The wear is fantastic (four to six hours), and it’s moisturizing while you wear it. There is a light, sweet scent–reminiscent of perhaps creme brulee–that doesn’t feel overwhelming nor smell synthetic.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Yes, yes, and yes. I have to try more to see if the whole range performs as well as Siren, but I look forward to whatever shade I try next. I just wish they’d inject a wee bit more into each tube — at 0.12 oz., they fall below average, and though it certainly is a vibrant, pigmented gloss and doesn’t need a lot of product to deliver that color, it’s still a little low.
