Duochromes + Jealousy Wakes Look
I was just playing around, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to post this, but some reader encouragement helped
After seeing several readers mention Vex on yesterday’s post about Bare Escentual’s Urban Nature, I figured I’d try it. And then I just couldn’t help reaching for Jealousy Wakes… The green tones of Urban Nature brought out the green in the shadow (rather than the slight bluish nature of it) — which is what I wanted, something that is so on the edge of green that it’ll integrate well with other shadows.
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Bare Escentuals Urban Nature Prime Time Primer Shadow (murky plum, khaki, green), MAC Vex Eyeshadow (grayish purple with green sheen), MAC Jealousy Wakes Eyeshadow (emerald green), MAC Vanilla Eyeshadow (soft white beige), MAC Gilded White Powerpoint Pencil (waterline), Make Up For Ever #20L Aqua Eyes Liner (forest green), Hourglass Film Noir Mascara (black)
- Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation (02), Guerlain Les Violettes Mineral Powder (03)
- Cheeks: Dior Aurora Nude Glow (soft bronze)
- Lips: Cle de Peau #2 Lipgloss (peach)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 222 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pencil brush), 188 (small, circular stippling brush)
- Substitutes: Jealousy Wakes = Emerald Green (it is the closest I can think of, but it pulls yellow)
For eyes, start by applying Urban Nature all over the lid and above the crease with the 242 to lay down your eyeshadow base. Lightly press Vex eyeshadow onto the inner half of the lid with the 239. Then apply Jealousy Wakes eyeshadow on the outer third of the lid and into the crease with the 239. Blend Vex eyeshadow by pulling lightly towards the outer lid with the 239. Apply Vanilla eyeshadow on the brow bone to highlight and soften the edge of the crease. Next, apply Gilded White liner on the lower waterline and #20 liner on the lower lash line, and then smudge with Jealousy Wakes eyeshadow. Coat lashes with Film Noir mascara to finish the look.
For cheeks, apply Aurora on the apples of the cheeks and sweep towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply #2 lipgloss for a complementing lip.

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette Look #2
We had our celebratory dinner on Saturday, and I had to wear Chanel Dragon–my go-to for special occasions–and decided to pair it with the neutral shades from the Rollergirl palette, due out in late April. For lips, apply Dragon for a complementing lip.

My Special Occasion Look: Red Lips
I don’t know why, but one of my go-to looks for a special occasion is red lips paired with a gold eyeshadow look. I didn’t have much time, so I only snapped a couple of photos of this look. I’m also still mad that Ore photographs so blah relative to how TA-DA it is in person. Hope you’re having a beautiful Tuesday!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), Illamasqua Ore Pure Pigment (shimmering gold-bronze), Urban Decay Darkhorse Eyeshadow (dark bronze), Urban Decay Virgin Eyeshadow (highlighter), Make Up For Ever #10L Aqua Eyes Liner (bronze), Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara (black)
- Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation (02), Guerlain Voilettes Loose Powder (03)
- Cheeks: Korres #15 Natural Blush (pink-brown)
- Lips: Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque (red), Chanel Exces Extrait de Gloss (sheer red)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Ore pure pigment on the entire lower lid to cover. Then, apply Darkhorse eyeshadow into the crease and blend outwards and on outer third of the lid with the 226. Diffuse the crease color by applying Virgin eyeshadow above to highlight the brow bone with the 217. Apply #10L liner on the lower lash line and finish lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.
For cheeks, apply #15 blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Dragon Rouge Allure Laque first, and then layer Exces Extrait de Gloss for a complementing lip.

Bobbi Brown Black Velvet Look
Here’s a quick look I did using some of the new shades from Bobbi Brown’s Black Velvet Collection!
I wish the photos turned out better, because I actually liked how this look worked out in the end! It was this peek of smoky eyes that wasn’t overwhelming but not quite subtle either!
I’m so mad — my favorite foundation, Guerlain Parure Gold, is now too dark for me! Here’s hoping that #02 matches… love that foundation so much!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), Bobbi Brown Black Berry Eyeshadow (blackened burgundy), Bobbi Brown Black Velvet Eyeshadow (glittery blackened purple), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow (highlighter), Bobbi Brown Black Plum Eye Kohl (dark plum), Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara (black)
- Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation (03), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (translucent)
- Cheeks: Rock & Republic Tease Blush (cool pink)
- Lips: Bobbi Brown Black Chocolate Lip Gloss (sheer burgundy)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Black Berry eyeshadow on the lower third of the lid patted horizontally above the upper lash line. Lightly blend Black Velvet eyeshadow across the lid and slightly above the crease with the 239. Blend Trench eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Black Plum on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.
For cheeks, apply Tease blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Black Chocolate lipgloss for a complementing lip.

Fall Makeup: Go Red with Neutrals
When it comes to some of the darker shades of fall lip colors, pairing them with a neutral eye is always an easy way to make them work for you without overwhelming your face. This is the kind of look where I challenge myself: “How many products that I need to review can I fit on my face for one look?” It’s the epitome of multi-tasking, right? Hey, at least it’s not my usual where I have half my face done in certain products… and the other half with something else.
All new products used will be reviewed on the blog – I’ll give you my take at that time
You will need the following…
- Eyes: NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base (neutral eyeshadow base), Guerlain Rue des Francs Bourgeois Eyeshadow Palette, Bobbi Brown Chocolate Brown Eyeliner (dark brown), Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara (black)
- Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation (03), Guerlain Les Voilettes Mineral Powder (03)
- Cheeks: Rock & Republic Call Me Blush (pinky coral)
- Lips: Guerlain Gwen Rouge G Lipstick (deep red), Guerlain Violine (462) Kiss Kiss Gloss Serum (burgundy red)
Using the 239, apply the bottom left shade of the palette on the inner third of the lid and pull upwards along the inner crease. Lightly blend the upper left shade of the palette on the middle of the lid with the 239. Next, apply the bottom middle shade of the palette onto the outer lid with the 239. Define the crease with the upper middle shade of the palette with the 226. Blend the upper left shade of the palette with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Chocolate Brown eyeliner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Inimitable Intense mascara.
For cheeks, apply Call Me blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Gwen lipstick first, and then layer Violine lipgloss for a complementing lip.
