Giorgio Armani #526 Rouge d'Armani Lipstick
Giorgio Armani #526 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

Tread Lightly Into Fall with #526

Giorgio Armani #526 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.14 oz.) is medium-dark plummy rose with subtle warm undertones. Chanel Caractere is more plum. Benefit I Think I Love You is similar but has more shimmer. MAC Oh Oh Oh has gold shimmer. Chanel Fetiche is similar.

It has mostly opaque color coverage (I’d say 95%) and a subtle sheen. The consistency is lightweight but very creamy, so it glides on easily without dragging or tugging on the lip and deposits even color. This shade wore just over six hours on me, which is great for a lipstick, but this formula touts eight hours, so it is a little short. Otherwise, it was moisturizing, comfortable to wear, and wore away evenly. It’s scent- and taste-free, and it is packaged in a black lacquered tube with a magnetic closure.

#526 is wearable and universally flattering across skin tones; it has just enough color to be noticeable and more than your natural lip color, but it won't wash you out or draw all the attention to your lips.

Giorgio Armani #408 Rouge d'Armani Lipstick
Giorgio Armani #408 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

A Beautiful Red for Autumn and Winter

Giorgio Armani #408 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.14 oz.) is darkened, cool-toned red with micro-fine ruby red shimmer finished with a pearly sheen. NARS Amsterdam is warmer. MAC Rocker is very similar but matte. shu uemura has a similar texture but is warmer. Rimmel Metallic Seduction is a bit browner. Make Up For Ever #48 doesn’t have shimmer. MAC Digna is just slightly lighter.

There’s something to be said about trying a product on, and it’s definitely something that I caught onto a couple of years into blogging, but sometimes I’m still surprised. The way this swatched seemed like it was going to be a little sheer, perhaps look like a lip stain when applied, but it’s much more opaque. There is a subtle translucency that’s lingering in the background, but overall, my lip freckle is a mere shadow. The Rouge d’Armani formula is lovely, and with this shade, I did get seven hours of wear (of the eight the brand promises) and there was a light stain left behind. Aside from the length of wear, it’s such a comfortable, hydrating, and evenly-wearing lipstick that applies easily without tugging or dragging on the lips.

Giorgio Armani packages the lipstick quite well; glossy black that disguises fingerprints well with a magnetic closure that stays in place even if you let it rattle around your purse or makeup bag. The lipstick is both scent- and taste-free, for those sensitive to either. Oh — and 0.14 oz. makes it one of the more generously-sized lipsticks on the market.

#408 is part of the fall collection, but the color is just right for the richer, deeper lip colors of fall as well as fit in with holiday-inspired red lips.

Giorgio Armani #111 Rouge d'Armani Lipstick
Giorgio Armani #111 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

A New Nude for Fall

Giorgio Armani #111 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a subtly warmed over light-medium beige with a soft frosted sheen. MAC Japanese Maple is a bit darker, less frosted. MAC Naturally Eccentric is a smidgen lighter. MAC Pretty Please is pinker. MAC Marquise d’ is marginally lighter but very close. Guerlain Gabrielle is a bit pinker but similar.

It seemed sheer when I swatched it, but on the lips, it’s mostly opaque–you can’t really make out my lip freckle at all! While Giorgio Armani says these are supposed to last up to eight hours, with this particular shade, I was able to make it to six with a fair amount of color still on (no need for a touch-up yet). I can see up to eight hours of wear with some of their other shades, but this lighter shade didn’t make it that far–still, longer than average wear as compared to most lipsticks. The formula is hydrating, feels comfortable on, and wears away evenly. It has a thin, creamy consistency that feels lightweight on and applies evenly and easily.

One feature I like about Giorgio Armani’s packaging is that it clicks close with a magnetic closure, which means you won’t have to fret that the cap will pop off in your bag. The lipstick is also scent- and taste-free.

The Rouge d'Armani Lipstick formula is a good one (and consistently good) -- even a light shade like this wears well, evenly, and longer than a lot of similarly-colored lipsticks.

Giorgio Armani #406 Rouge d'Armani Lipstick
Giorgio Armani #406 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

Giorgio Armani #406 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

Giorgio Armani #406 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a rich, deeper red with a blue-base. It yields opaque color coverage in a creamy finish with a natural shine. It’s a beautiful red, though you’re bound to find shades similar in our red lipstick gallery. Of some more recently reviewed shades, it is close to NYX Chic Red, Guerlain Liu, MAC Ruby Woo, and Guerlain Garconne. This just happens to be a red encapsulated in an exceptional formula.

The Rouge d’Armani formula is a good one. It’s a long-wearing formula (supposed to be up to eight hours!) with intense color, comfortable to wear, no fading/feathering, and moisturizing. The intensity of this red wears for at least eight hours but, while slightly more matte by eight hours, could be worn without reapplication for a few more hours. It has a creamy texture that makes for effortless application and easy glide, but it’s lightweight and adheres well without clinging. I haven’t had it bleed or feather, and it is nicely hydrating. This formula is scent- and taste-free. I also like that it has a magnetic enclosure.

This lipstick does everything well--from the functional packaging to the long-wearing, moisturizing formula. The only thing left to decide is whether the color is the right one from you!

Giorgio Armani #507 Rouge d'Armani Lipstick
Giorgio Armani #507 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

Giorgio Armani #507 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

Giorgio Armani #507 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a rosy pink with a naturally glossy finish and nearly opaque color coverage.  This shade felt even creamier than other Rouge d’Armani shades I’ve tried but still wore a solid six hours.

my thoughts on the formula: The formula itself is moisturizing, long-wearing (six to eight hours), and comfortable to wear. It’s not clingy nor heavy, and there’s enough slip to give it that creamy look where the color nearly melts against your lips. Rouge d’Armani Lipsticks are also scent- and taste-free (and no waxy scent, either!). It comes in a sleek, glossy black case with a magnetic enclosure to ensure your lipstick is closed at all times.

This is a lovely warmer pink with subtle yellow undertones making it extremely wearable on warmer complexions but still suitable on cooler and neutral skin tones.

Giorgio Armani #517 Rouge d'Armani Lipstick
Giorgio Armani #517 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick

Giorgio Rouge d’Armani Lipstick: 517

Giorgio Armani #517 Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a brightened, dark fuchsia with semi-opaque color coverage and fuchsia and pink micro-shimmer. I love that it’s fuchsia but still very much a pink, too; it’s not so fuchsia that it leans purple or violet. Most of the shades I’ve tried from the Rouge d’Armani lipstick line have been opaque but this is short of being full color coverage.

my thoughts on the formula: The formula itself is moisturizing, long-wearing (six to eight hours), and comfortable to wear. It’s not clingy nor heavy, and there’s enough slip to give it that creamy look where the color nearly melts against your lips. Rouge d’Armani Lipsticks are also scent- and taste-free (and no waxy scent, either!). It comes in a sleek, glossy black case with a magnetic enclosure to ensure your lipstick is closed at all times.

final thoughts: This is a shade that should work on a variety of skin tones, because deeper pinks can add a lot to a look, and because it doesn’t lean too cool, work well on warmer skin tones, too.
