Dolce & Gabbana Rosebud (170) Shine Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a glossy pale pink iwth a hint of rose and soft white micro-shimmer. It’s nearly opaque, and the paleness of the color makes the fuller coverage color look milky and creamy.

my thoughts on the formula: The Shine Lipsticks can be very creamy, when the finish is less shimmery, or more glimmering, if the finish is shimmery. Overall, they have a glossiness that isn’t there in the brand’s Classic Cream Lipsticks. The lipstick is rose-scented, and it is one of the heavier scented products I’ve come across, so if you are at all sensitive to scents, I would probably keep on looking. I usually average four hours of wear with this formula.

final thoughts: It is a surprisingly flattering milky pink, even on medium skin tones.  Milky pinks tend to wash me out, so I do find them hard to wear on their own, but I think this works.  I also like that it doesn’t have strong cool undertones.

A Deep Fuchsia Lip for Fall

Dolce & Gabbana Orchid (115) Shine Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is an paque, deep fuchsia pink with a high glossy shine. It’s bright without being neon, but still a very rich, noticeable color when worn. It doesn’t seem to pull very blue, as many fuchsias do, but it still brightens teeth, giving the illusion of a whiter smile. The consistency is great: creamy without being heavy or overly slippery, while the color is intense in one or one and a half layers of product. I like the rose-scent of Dolce & Gabbana’s lipsticks, but if you’re more sensitive to scent, you might want to sniff before buying.

MAC’s Rebel Lipstick was the closest shade I could find to this particular color, but it pulls a lot redder and a couple of hues darker, while Orchid is distinctly pink (compare the full face photos–the difference is so dramatic!).

RECOMMENDATION: Rich color, moisturizing, and flattering on cool and warm skin tones — if you’re in the mood for a deep fuchsia, it’s a good choice!

The Summer Season: Dolce & Gabbana Splendid Lipstick

Dolce & Gabbana Splendid Lipstick ($30.00) is an opaque, medium pink that’s bright enough to attract attention to your pout, but not so bright it’s obnoxious.  This is a nice in-between pink that’s good for wearability in particular.  I love that it’s such a nice medium pink but still opaque.  It also has a glossy sheen without being shimmery.  All Dolce & Gabbana lipsticks are rose-scented, for the scent-wary.  I like it, but I’ve yet to run into a fragranced lipstick I don’t like.  I get four to five hours of wear with this lipstick formula, too, which is a bit above average.

Dolce & Gabbana Fuchsia (#150) Shine Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a beautiful softened fuchsia-pink (actually, it strikes me as a peony pink!) with iridescent light pink shimmer and a glossy shine.  It almost has a glow to it.  It’s not a true fuchsia, because it’s really quite pink and doesn’t have the purple tones that most fuchsia lipsticks have.  The color pay off is excellent with complete opaque color.  I get around four to five hours of wear with this shade, and it’s moisturizing from start to finish.  Dolce & Gabbana Lipsticks are rose-scented, so those with more sensitive sniffers may find it a bit too much.

Dolce & Gabbana Fascination (#165) Shine Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a creamy, semi-opaque shade of pinky-lilac. It’s not exactly purple, but it’s not a perfect, petal pink, either. It lies closer to pink than purple, but there’s a definite lilac edge. The color is very wearable, both on warm and cool skin tones, which isn’t always easy to find when a lipstick is naturally cooler toned. I get three to four hours of wear with Dolce & Gabbana’s lipsticks, which are rose-scented and taste-free (to me!).

The Summer Season: Dolce & Gabbana Sheer (#130) Shine Lipstick

Dolce & Gabbana Sheer (#130) Shine Lipstick ($30.00) is a fiery orange-red. I didn’t even realize it, but I also featured it as part of The Scarlet Season. Even though it’s a Shine Lipstick, it’s so, so pigmented. It’s a rich, fierce orange-red that looks creamy and wet and slightly glossy with full-color coverage. It wears well–about four hours before it noticeably fades–and feels lightweight but still moisturizing. Like all Dolce & Gabbana Lipsticks, it does have a rosy scent that’s noticeable in the tube, but I don’t notice it once it’s on my lips (but I’m also not super sensitive to scents in lip products).
