Dolce & Gabbana Amethyst Lipgloss

Dolce & Gabbana Amethyst Lipgloss ($29.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a deepened burgundy berry with soft violet and burgundy micro-shimmer.  It’s semi-opaque with decent color pay off and definitely gives lips a darker, vampier look, but my natural lip color does peek through.  What I really liked about this gloss though was how despite the deeper color, it did not settle into lip lines.

my thoughts on the formula: Dolce & Gabbana Lip Glosses are moisturizing, and they fade really well when they wear away. With this particular shade, I was able to get a solid four hours of wear. These glosses are heavily rose-scented but don’t seem to have any taste. With just 0.13 oz. in a tube (compared to 0.20 oz. for other high-end brands like Chanel, Guerlain, and YSL), these are pricey.

Dolce & Gabbana Vibrant (#143) Lipgloss ($29.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a rich shade of darkened fuchsia raspberry with iridescent fuchsia-purple micro-shimmer. It delivers nearly opaque color, and it doesn’t settle into lip lines. I love how it is a mix of pink, red, and berry.

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011: Bon Bon

Dolce & Gabbana Bon Bon Lip Gloss ($29.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a pale, milky cotton candy pink with ultra-fine shimmer. It’s semi-opaque, and with its creamier finish, it does settle into lip lines, which I did find was noticeable even from afar. I would recommend wearing a light pink or nude lipstick underneath to minimize the lip gloss settling into the lines.

I only get about two to three hours of wear (this one just under four), which is a little below average for me. These glosses are heavily rose-scented but don’t seem to have any taste. final thoughts: This pink should suit light to medium skin tones, both cool and warm, because it doesn’t have strong cool undertones.  It may wash out deeper skin tones, though.  I also want to reiterate that Dolce & Gabbana glosses have a very strong rose scent.

A Nude That Works!

Dolce & Gabbana Caramel (50) Lip Gloss ($29.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, medium beige nude with a high shine finish. It tones down my natural lip color without washing me out, which I can definitely appreciate! Unlike some nude glosses, it doesn’t look thick or unnatural, and it doesn’t feel gloopy at all–but there is still some color to it, it’s not just a sheer gloss. There is a touch of tackiness, but I wouldn’t describe these as sticky.

Dolce & Gabbana Lipgloss ($29.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a slightly tacky, mostly glossy, lipgloss. These have a shine that’s glossier than your average lipgloss, so lips look very lush and juicy. I’ve tried a few different shades of Dolce & Gabbana’s lipglosses, and they seem to be on the sheerer side, with nothing being completely opaque. I like that they’re moisturizing, and they fade really well when they wear away. I only get about two to three hours of wear, which is a little below average for me. These glosses are rose-scented but don’t seem to have any taste.

• Charm is a sheer medium pink with fuchsia and ruby sparkle.
• Candy is a semi-sheer milky medium pink with no shimmer just a glossy shine.

With just 0.13 oz. in a tube (compared to 0.20 oz. for other high-end brands like Chanel, Guerlain, and YSL), these are pricey.  Overall, they’re nice glosses, but it’s not quite the holy grail.  For the price tag, I’d probably opt for Chanel or Guerlain glosses instead–or perhaps Dior’s Ultra Gloss.

RECOMMENDATION: These are definitely a splurge item.  If you’re able to check out the line in person and you find a shade that really works for you, I think it’s worth getting.  But if you’re just shopping around for a new gloss, there are a few others I’d consider before these.
