Deborah Lippmann Moon Rendezvous Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “faded slate-blue shimmer.” It’s a muted, cool-toned blue shot through with silver and icy blue shimmer. There’s a definite gray-ish cast to it that gives it that “slate-blue” coloring as described. I thought the finish was more metallic than shimmer, though. Butter London Lady Muck has a completely different finish, and it looks a bit bluer because it has less shimmer/sheen. Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle is a cream, but it has a similar gray-blue coloring.

I couldn’t think of another polish that I’ve covered that has this color with this kind of finish.  It has a very metallic finish, and as a result, there are brush strokes or threads of metallic shimmer that are visible even in muted, natural light. On the plus side, it has a faster drying time than the average polish, which tends to be true of metallic finishes as well.  The consistency wasn’t thick or really thin, but there was a slight wateriness to the formula that took some getting used to.  I was going to redo these swatches, but I’m short on time (and long on polishes to review) and I know Deborah Lippmann’s spring shades are going fast.  I had no trouble getting full, opaque color coverage in two coats, though.  I recommend waiting for each coat to dry, because it is unforgiving if you try to apply the next coat too soon–it will pull.  I typically get a week of wear out of Deborah Lippmann’s polishes.

Deborah Lippmann Today Was a Fairytale Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “silvery blue starlight” with a glitter finish. It has a blue-tinted gray color base with silver hexagonal and smaller glitter particles. The closest dupe I could think of was China Glaze Tinsel Town, which is finer and has a lot more color coverage (plus, the base color is black). The base color reminded me of Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather, which is far more opaque. Based on how Deborah Lippmann’s has described her glitter polishes, I would expect some sheerness, but this is a lot.

This kind of polish is really best used as a layering shade, which is why I layered it over a black cream. I don’t like the way it looks on its own–I applied two coats in the swatches–because it has a very uneven, sheer gray base that just doesn’t seem to work. The glitter looks a little lost within the murky background, actually. It has a thicker consistency, more akin to a jelly finish, so I didn’t want to do more than two coats to see how opaque it was on its own. I typically get a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with Deborah Lippmann’s formula.

	It's not the most impressive Deborah Lippmann polish, especially on its own. It's something I'd reserve for use as a top coat, but I think that it doesn't have the unique qualities of a lot of the brand's polishes and glitter shades that makes it worth the price tag.

Deborah Lippmann Sweet Dreams Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “candied pink” and has a “3D holographic” finish. It’s a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia pink with gold-to-orange flakies. It has a jelly-like finish and look to it. I don’t have anything that looks like this, but if you had a brightened pink jelly and a flakie top coat, you could probably dupe it that way. Zoya Lara is similar in color but has a cream finish. OCC Palare is slightly bluer in tone and doesn’t have a jelly-like finish.

The color coverage is mostly opaque after two coats, but there’s some translucency from the jelly-like finish. It is a thicker polish (and I’d say thicker than a lot of jelly finishes), though it didn’t seem to have any real problems applying smoothly and evenly. It did seem to take longer than usual to dry, though.  I tested out the wear of Sweet Dreams, and it wore well for seven days without chipping, though there was minor tip wear, which is on par for what I normally see when I wear one of Deborah Lippmann’s polishes.

Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “seafoam splendor.” It has a “glittered shimmer” finish. It’s a green-gold shimmered aqua-blue base with larger blue glitter. I don’t have anything similar to this to my recollection. The mixture of shimmer and glitter makes it rather different.  It was extremely pigmented; I actually thought it was a one-coater, so the swatches are done with a single coat of polish. While editing, I could see that at least one nail would have benefited from a second coat, so I’d say two coats is best unless you’re really good and get it done in one.

The texture of the polish on the nail is chunky/gritty; you’ll need a really thick top coat (or two layers of top coat) if you’re bothered by the feel of the glitter/shimmer.  As far as the consistency went, it applied pretty evenly and fluidly without pooling against the sides. It’s not “thick” in the traditional way, but it’s densely packed with both pigment and shimmer/glitter. I really liked how evenly the glitter spread–I didn’t have to finagle the pieces around at all.  I typically get a week of wear with very minimal tip wear with Deborah Lippmann’s formula.

LE	Mermaid's Dream A
	As far as I know, this is a really unique shade, texture, and overall look--so I'm totally in love with it for those things alone! It's incredibly pigmented, so it's easy to apply--plus, it dries down pretty quickly, too!

Deborah Lippmann On the Beach Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “rich riviera blue” with a cream finish. It’s a medium blue with an almost jelly-like finish; it doesn’t have the same milkiness that I’d anticipate with a cream finish but more of the squishy look of a jelly finish. NARS Koliary is brighter, a little lighter, and distinctly a cream finish. Zoya Phoebe is darker and matte. Zoya Robyn is a little lighter.

On the Beach was a little fussy to work with; the consistency was on the watery side, slightly runny. The initial coat I applied went on streaky, though the second coat was better and hid most of the streaky finish of the first one. With the way it came out after two coats, I’d opt for three for more opaque, even results. Deborah Lippmann’s formula typically wears a full week on me with very minor tip wear but no chipping.

	I was not impressed with the consistency or color payoff of this shade--I did not feel it was up to the standards that Deborah Lippmann has set for herself. I normally enjoy her formula, but this was a miss for me.

Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light Nail Lacquer ($18.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “indigo” and it has a “3D holographic” finish. It’s a rich, deep blue-purple that really does rather close to indigo, though perhaps it’s a little closer to violet. It has holographic flakes that are really well-mixed with the base color. The holographic flakes shift from green to orange to copper to red, though it’s a subtler shift–it tends to look more coppery-red overall. I don’t know of a polish that has both this base color with the holographic flakes in it. SpaRitual Illume has the closest base color, but it is purpler, less blue-toned. ORLY Lunar Eclipse is more of a blue-violet hue, but it’s so much brighter that it looks very different in comparison. SpaRitual Twinkle is also a bit similar, though it’s bluer, and richer–it doesn’t have the jelly-like quality of Ray of Light that makes it look a bit muted. You could try a violet/indigo base color and a holographic top coat perhaps. You won’t quite get the really integrated, smooth look of this shade, but you will probably come close.

Ray of Light was opaque after two coats of polish, though the consistency was a little thicker than ideal and thicker than Deborah Lippmann’s polishes in general. I was surprised it didn’t pool around the edges given the consistency, but it applied fairly easily and evenly.  I wish the formula was a little closer to perfection at this price point, but at least the shade isn’t one I can think of five cousins right away.  A little thinner would likely help the consistency, if you have it on hand.  Deborah Lippmann’s formulas wear really well on me–I get a week of wear with very minor tip wear but no chipping.

	I like that it's not something I have in my collection, but the formula is on the thicker side, which is disappointing. The color coverage is excellent, and I didn't have any problems during application, despite the thicker consistency.
