Urban Decay Indecent Lipstick

The Spring Season: Urban Decay Indecent Lipstick

Urban Decay Lipstick Indecent ($22.00) is a semi-sheer, ultra glossy/shiny softened orange-coral with subtle champagne-gold shimmer. It’s so sheer and glossy that it almost looks more like a thin gloss than a lipstick. Urban Decay lipsticks have kind of a burnt caramel sugar scent and they don’t taste like much to me, though some with more refined tastebuds have noted it has an off-taste. They are moisturizing and last about four hours on my lips, though sheerer shades like Indecent seem to wear off a little faster than more opaque or heavier shades do!

Smashbox Splendid Lipstick
Smashbox Splendid Lipstick

The Spring Season: Smashbox Splendid Lipstick

Smashbox Splendid Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, semi-opaque coral-pink with a glossy finish. It has subtle golden/champagne shimmer throughout, but it has more of a glimmering effect. Despite having a very soft and sheer look to it, it’s surprisingly opaque. It really melds and blends with your natural lip color, so it is easy to wear. Smashbox’s Lipsticks are always very creamy and moisturizing and wear for a solid four hours on me.

Guerlain Orange Sequin Lipstick
Guerlain Orange Sequin Lipstick

The Spring Season: Guerlain Orange Sequin Lipstick

Guerlain Orange Sequin (#342) Kiss Kiss Strass Lip Color ($31.00) is new (and permanent!) for spring. It’s a semi-sheer orange-coral base with copper and golden orange flecks of shimmer throughout. On my lips, it merely tints my natural lip color to lean a little more orange with a subtle milky-creamy look. The finish of it, when applied, is nicely glossy and the shimmer flecks show up the most. If you’ve been hunting for a semi-sheer, ultra shimmery coral, Orange Sequin is worth a peek.

Lancome Chris & Tell Lipstick

Lancome Chris & Tell Lipstick

Have you managed to get your hands on this year’s coveted Lancome designer lipstick? First it was Proenza Pink, and this year, it’s Chris & Tell. Chris & Tell was designed by Chris Benz and comes on the luxuriating L’Absolu Rouge formula. It’s sold out on Lancome’s website, so those hoping to snag one should call their nearest Saks store to see if they can track one down!

Chris & Tell is an ultra creamy, brightened coral-pink. It’s bright and richly pigmented. The color is so vibrantly coral, it instantly reminded me of summer (not so much spring). The color grabs onto lips and wears well for a solid four hours. The creaminess of the lipstick is just enough to give lips a glossy sheen and comfortable feeling without being too creamy and causing slippage.

Guerlain Corail Passion Lipstick
Guerlain Corail Passion Lipstick

The Spring Season: Guerlain Corail Passion Lipstick

Guerlain Corail Passion (#559) KissKiss Lipstick ($30.00) is a soft orange-based coral with a slight frost sheen. It applies easily, goes on semi-opaque, and has a glossy sheen in its finish. It’s not quite shimmery yet it definitely has a frost edge to it (but I don’t think it’s too frosty, like frosts sometimes are). It’s not my perfect coral (Guerlain’s Gems is the closest so far!), but I like the way it’s distinctly coral but not too bright–many truer corals also tend to be bolder, brighter.

I’m not often a fan of orange-based shades on me, whether they’re red or coral or what-have-you, but this is soft enough of an orange hue that it doesn’t bother me as it usually does! The texture is soft and smooth, very easy to work with, and I get about four to five hours of wear from KissKiss lipsticks. They are heavily scented, so if you prefer soft scents, scent-free, or more vanilla-esque scents, you may want to take a sniff before you buy a Guerlain lipstick.

Dolce & Gabbana Sunset Lip Gloss

The Spring Season: Dolce & Gabbana Sunset Lip Gloss

Dolce & Gabbana Sunset Lip Gloss ($29.00) is a golden shimmered coral-peach gloss. It’g oes on sheerly, but it adds enough color to change-up your natural lip color, plus add a healthy dose of shimmer on top. Dolce & Gabbana’s lipglosses do have a heavy rose scent, so those with sensitive noses or fragrance-free preferences may not enjoy this particular gloss. It feels slightly tacky, but it’s really nothing to worry over (it’s not at all as sticky as MAC Lipglass). It can be applied in thin layers and built up a little for a thicker, glossier feel/look or to intensify the shimmer. I find two coats is the perfect amount for me. This gloss lasts a few hours on my lips on its own, and it’s colored enough (at least on my lips) to allow me to wear it alone, if I so choose.
