Christina Hendricks @ 63rd Emmy Awards

Christina Hendricks @ 63rd Emmy Awards – Makeup & Dress Photos

Christina Hendricks as she arrives at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards on September 18th, 2011.

Makeup Breakdown

Makeup artist Vanessa Scali used Dior Beauty products to create an “effortless and chic” look for Christina Hendricks. “This look is all about champagne-nude eyes, pink milk maid cheeks and a siren mouth,” said Scali.

To prep Hendrick’s skin, Scali used Dior Capture Totale One Essential Skin Boosting Serum. “This serum disappears into the skin, leaving it feeling
fresh and smooth, ” she said. She used Diorskin Forever in Ivory #010 for foundation, DiorBlush in Strawberry Sorbet #943 on cheeks, Rouge Dior Lipcolor in Blazing Red #638 on lips, and Dior 1 Couleur Eyeshadow in Nude Luminescence #516, Diorshow Liner Waterproof in Carbon #098, Diorshow Mascara in Black on eyes.

Christina Hendricks @ MET Ball 2011

Christina Hendricks had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali, who said, “Christina’s makeup was directly inspired by her strapless dress. The dress had an earthy, mermaid feel. You can picture her appearing from out of the mist in Ireland just in time for the Ball. This look is a contrast of simplicity and sophistication: nude skin, ruddy-rosy cheeks and flush lips paired with intense, sultry copper eyes.”

Makeup How-to

First, I prepared her skin by using CHANEL Sublimage La Crème. This cream is rich, luxurious and penetrating. Then I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige-Pastel. This formula is so exciting! From the moment I tried it, it has been a staple in my bag. It’s effortless to apply and light as air — perfect for making the skin look nude, but flawless. CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale was applied to the apples of the cheeks blending outward.

For definition and intensity, I lined her eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir at the base of the lashes and on the inside rim of the eye (one of my favorite ways to secretly make lashes look thicker and define the eyes is to line the inside rim, on the waterline). Then using CHANEL Makeup Shadow/ Liner Brush #4, I smudged the line for a softer effect. Using the rich copper shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Spices, I applied color from the lash line to just above the crease and swept past the natural outer corner to exaggerate and elongate the eye. This color continues under the bottom lashes, blended well. Then to highlight the brow bone, I used a touch of CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Delta. I finished the eye by framing it with lush, dramatic lashes – CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir. You can never have too many lashes and this mascara really delivers.

For lips I wanted a flush, clean look so I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Sari D’Eau. And the last touch was a dusting of CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair – Translucent 1 on her T-zone.

Christina Hendricks @ 2011 SAG Awards

Christina Hendricks @ 2011 SAG Awards

Christina Hendricks had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali using CoverGirl.

Makeup Breakdown

Christina was inspired by Brigitte Bardot’s black smoky eyes and nude face. So, we went in this direction but softened the look for the red carpet by using a creamy, shimmery shadow in gunmetal. This gives the eye shadow a transparent quality that makes the look very strong but also very modern.

I am always sparing with foundation but especially with Christina’s nearly flawless skin. I used NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Alabaster, which was perfect for fresh, lightweight coverage. For a hint of color, I used Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach on the apples of the cheeks, looking polished and fresh.

For Christina’s timeless smoky eye, I used Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke on the lid from just above the crease down to the lash line. I swept out past the natural lash line at the outer corners of the eye to exaggerate the eye size and add a touch of red carpet drama.

Also, to define the lash line, I used LiquiLine Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire. This pencil defines the eye by leaving intense color at the lash line but is very blendable for a soft look at the edges. Never leave home without lush and lengthy lashes, I used LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black to create just that.

Strong eyes look great paired with clean, uncomplicated skin. Keep it fresh by powdering in the T-zone only, using Clean Pressed Powder, Sensitive Skin in Ivory.

Finally, to complement the smoky eye, I wanted to use brown undertones, so I chose Lip Perfection Lipstick in Kiss, perfect for red carpet glam!

Christina Hendricks @ 2010 Emmy Awards
Christina Hendricks @ 2010 Emmy Awards

2010 Emmy Awards: Christina Hendricks

Very subtle silvery-gray smoky eye, maybe a bit of brown in the crease to keep it on the soft side!   I think she may be wearing a peachy blush, but it’s hard to say.  The lips look like a soft pinky-coral.

Makeup Breakdown

Christina Hendricks, Supporting Actress nominee for her role in “Mad Men,” was ethereal and stunning at tonight’s Emmy Awards. Clad in a lilac Zac Posen gown, with her signature red hair flowing, Christina’s makeup was inspired by Mia Farrow’s iconic character from “The Great Gatsby.” Celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali gave us a call from the Emmys to give us the details on Christina’s look:

Face: Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme’s La Base Pro. To perfect Christina’s already luminous skin, Vanessa used Lancôme’s new Teint Miracle Lit-From-Within Makeup. “It has an amazing transparent quality that leaves the skin looking flawless and luminous without being shiny,” said Vanessa. “I applied it with a brush and then blended with my fingers.” Blending with her fingers heated up the foundation a bit, allowing for a seamless finish. Vanessa followed with Effacernes Concealer under the eyes, her “all time favorite concealer.”

Cheeks: For a fresh pop of color I used Lancôme’s Blush Subtil Shimmer in Pink Pool on the apples of her cheeks. Dabs of Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Fluid Sheer #2 highlighted Christina’s cheekbones.

Eyes:  The eye shadow was mix of YSL’s Ombre Solo Eyeshadow in Cashmere Brown and Midnight Black. “I applied these all over her lid, under the bottom lashes and blended it out past her natural lash line to softly elongate the eye,” reported Vanessa. To define and elongate the lash line, Vanessa lined the eyes with Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Black. “I used a touch of liner under her bottom lashes but smudged it for a softer look,” said Vanessa. For added depth, Vanessa used Artliner Precision Point Eyeliner in Noir at the very base of Christina’s lashes.  Several generous coats of Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black were used on the top and bottom lashes.

Lips: Christina’s lips were a mix of Lancôme lip colors for an effect that Vanessa described as “red with a little dash of pink.” A sheer coat of Color Design Matte Lipstick in Corset was topped by La Laque Fever Lipshine in Cyber Coral

Christina Hendricks @ 2010 SAG Awards

Christina Hendricks @ 2010 SAG Awards

I loved her at the Golden Globes, but this is a miss for me.  I’m not really digging the heavy, winged-out brown on her eyes.

Update: She looks much, much better under the lights of the press room.  Just goes to show you what a difference good lighting can make…
