A Subtly Shimmmered Coral-Pink for Summer

One of the least neon shades in China Glaze Summer Neons is Pink Plumeria Nail Lacquer ($7.00 [MSRP] for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “light pink with gold shimmer.” It’s a pink-coral that almost leans orange depending on the lighting. It has very fine gold micro-shimmer–in natural light, it almost looks like a cream finish, but there is definitely shimmer in it. OCC Extravaganza is pinker but has a similar brightness and shimmer content. China Glaze Sugar High is a smidgen pinker and has a cream finish. MAC Impassioned is more orange. Deborah Lippmann Girls Just Want to HAVe Fun Nail lacquer is more orange. Illamasqua Lament is a bit darker, more orange, and has no shimmer.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t opaque after two coats; there is a hint of visible nail line, and a third coat would likely yield fully opaque color. I think with this kind of shade, it looks best when it’s completely solid in color.  The formula was on the thicker side, so it did not apply flawlessly.  The biggest thing I noticed was that it took longer than usual to dry, even though it’s slightly neon (neons, like mattes, tend to dry faster).  It dries down to a semi-matte finish, and if you prefer a shiny finish, I’d recommend using a glossy top coat.  I typically get a week of wear out of China Glaze’s formula with no chipping and minor tip wear.

	I wish this shade had more opaque color--the thicker consistency makes using a third coat even less desirable! I think the shimmer within the base color really works well, and it's pink enough to work on both cooler and warmer skin tones.
