China Glaze Let It Snow: Blue Year’s Eve, Glittering Garland, Twinkle Lights, Icicle

To round out China Glaze’s Let It Snow Collection, we have the final four: Blue Year’s Eve (shimmering blue), Glittering Garland (glittery green), Twinkle Lights (mix of glittery shades), and Icicle (silver shimmer).

• Blue Year’s Eve is a medium-dark blue with lighter blue shimmer. It almost has a violet edge to it. It was mostly opaque in two coats–there was a hint of visible nail line at certain angles. MAC Ming Blue was the closest dupe I could think of, but it is a bit darker.
• Glittering Garland is a deep, dark blackened-green base with lighter forest green shimmer–it almost looks like flakes of sparkle to me. It was opaque in two coats. The base color reminded me of China Glaze Jolly Holly but mixed with the shimmer from ORLY It’s Not Rocket Science.
• Twinkle Lights is a mix of gold, emerald green, and ruby red glitter suspended in a clear base. It was surprisingly opaque at two coats, and I’d expect a third to have made it opaque or just nearly. I couldn’t think of any dupes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few.
• Icicle is a bright silver foil with slightly darker silver micro-glitter. It dries super quick and was opaque in two coats. It looked a lot like China Glaze Cheers to You, but Icicle is slightly less metallic but not by much and a touch lighter.

I didn’t have any notable issues with the formula on these four.  Blue Year’s Eve was less pigmented than anticipated but still was just about opaque in two coats; I could only detect visible nail line faintly at certain angles under a fair amount of lighting.  Icicle seems the most dupeable out of this set, while Glittering Garland was the shade I felt stood out the most; there’s something about the way the shimmer is shaped and set in the base color.  These polishes weren’t too thick or too thin, had good, even flow, and applied easily.  I typically get a week of wear with minimal tip wear with China Glaze’s formula.

	China Glaze's Let It Snow collection is classic holiday that still manages to put forth a few shades that are a bit different from polishes I already have. I like that they mixed a few layering shades along with creams and shimmers.

China Glaze Let It Snow: Velvet Bow, Winter Berry, Poinsettia, Holly-day

The next four shades we’re reviewing from China Glaze’s Let It Snow Collection are: Velvet Bow (rich red creme), Winter Berry (creamy cranberry-red), Poinsettia (ruby red creme), and Holly-day (rich hunter green).

• Velvet Bow is a deep burgundy-brown cream that’s opaque in two coats. China Glaze Loft-y Ambitions is lighter and has fine shimmer but is still similar. Zoya Anja is more purple and less brown based. Urban Decay Wrecked is a touch darker. MAC Vintage Vamp is less opaque.
• Winter Berry is a medium-dark, blue-based red cream. I needed two coats for opaque color. It’s a bit darker than Zoya Burke. MAC Get Noticed is bluer-based. Rescue Beauty Lounge Glamourpuss is similar, perhaps a touch lighter. Nubar Pekin seems like a dead ringer.
• Poinsettia is a brightened coral-ish red–it reads surprisingly coral on me. It has a cream finish and was opaque in two coats. It’s very similar to Rescue Beauty Lounge Bangin’. Zoya Sooki is redder.
• Holly-day is a medium-dark forest green with a cream finish. It was opaque in two coats. NARS Zulu is many times darker. It’s a bit like China Glaze Jolly Holly without the black base or shimmer. Zoya Shawn is yellower and more olive.

Of these four, Holly-day was the only shade I didn’t feel was dupeable. The other three seemed to have a fair amount of similar shades, so it made them less interesting. I think many of us have seen red creams for the holiday season, so there’s a good chance you may already own shades close enough to these new ones. For those who are just beginning to get into nail polish, the formula on these was excellent–the consistency was just right, not too thick or thin, and the flow was even and covered the nail without a fuss. All four were opaque in two coats, which is exactly as it should be. I typically get a week of wear with minimal tip wear with China Glaze’s formula.

	For those who are just beginning to get into nail polish, the formula on these was excellent--the consistency was just right, not too thick or thin, and the flow was even and covered the nail without a fuss. All four were opaque in two coats, which is exactly as it should be.

China Glaze Let It Snow: Ring in the Red, Champagne Bubbles, Tinsel Town, Snow Globe

China Glaze Let it Snow contains twelve shades that can be purchased individually or in various pre-made sets. In this post, we’re looking at these four shades: Ring in the Red (glittering red), Champagne Bubbles (sophisticated gold metallic), Tinsel Town (silver, metallic glitter), and Snow Globe (frosty white with flecks of snowy color).  I’ll have the other eight shades swatched, photographed, and posted soon!

• Ring in the Red is a pinky-red with ruby red shimmer and larger, darker red glitter. It was opaque in two coats. Nubar Fire Sparkle is the closest dupe I could think of, but it seems to be a little darker and more of an orange-toned red. Zoya Lisa is more of a blue-based red but less glittery.
• Champagne Bubbles is a brightened, yellow gold with a subtle metallic finish and gold glitter sparkle. It was opaque in two coats. It does have a metallic finish, so brush strokes are more noticeable here, but they were manageable and with a steadier (and more patient) hand, you could get them to look fairly straight. Milani 3D was the closest shade — it’s not quite as yellowy and has holographic glitter.
• Tinsel Town is a sooty gray-black base color with lots of silver glitter in small and larger particle size. It was opaque in two coats. I don’t have anything that looks like this; it looks like silver rocks on my nails or something. Nubar Midnight is silver shimmer over a black base, but it just doesn’t have the same effect on nails.
• Snow Globe is a sheer color base with multi-colored glitter in gold, aqua, green, blue, and purple. I did just two coats for swatches. Snow Globe has a thicker, more gel-like consistency (but not as thick as some glitters). It’s very similar to MAC Unconditionally Fabulous, and to a lesser degree, Deborah Lippmann Stairway to Heaven.

The official color descriptions for these shades really did not do them justice! I would not have envisioned these shades based on how they were described in the press release (they’re better!). The consistency of the formulas here were good; not too thick or too thin. Snow Globe was the only one that didn’t fit that bill–it had a thicker, more gel-like texture because it’s glitter suspended in a clear base (and the thicker consistency seems to help the glitter spread better).  I typically get a week of wear out of China Glaze with minimal tip wear, and I recently tested out Blue Year’s Eve with Snow Globe on top and was able to achieve those results yet again!

	Glittery polishes are always harder to remove, and these are no exception (patience and a good remover are key!), they're well worth the extra effort! I felt like Tinsel Town was the most unique and Snow Globe the most fun.
