Gold Fingers is almost opaque in two coats–if you want more of a “semi-sheer” look as Chanel describes, I’d recommend just one coat. I think it looks best with two coats, because it results in more even color coverage. The benefit to having it be slightly metallic and chocked full of shimmer and micro-glitter is that it dries down faster than the average polish. It has a consistency that’s just slightly watery but doesn’t seem to affect the application in any way. Chanel polishes typically last a week on me with minor tip wear but no chipping.
P.S. — I think Chanel is in a race against itself to make Le Vernis the most expensive polish on the market.
This kind of gold tends to be most flattering on warmer skin tones, particularly because there's a slightly orange-yellow tone to it. It applies well and would yield opaque color in three coats (if that was your aim) but is not as sheer as described.

Chanel June Le Vernis ($25.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “pastel apricot.” This is a limited edition shade (whereas the other two spring lacquers were not listed as limited). It’s a creamy, lightened orange that’s opaque in two coats. It reminded me of a Creamsicle. China Glaze Peachykeen was the closest dupe I could think of, but it reads less orange. China Glaze Papaya Punch is much, much more intense, brighter, and deeper, but continues in a similar vein.
The formula on this one is good; pigmented enough to deliver opaque color coverage in two coats. It’s not too thick or thin, so it covers the nail evenly without pooling or bubbling. The drying time seemed average (unlike May), which is always nice. I usually get a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chips with Chanel’s formula.
The three spring lacquers from Chanel have been really nice, and June is no exception. The formula seems to be at its best with these three--smooth, even, pigmented, fluid.

Chanel May Le Vernis ($25.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as an “intense pink.” It’s a lovely clean, almost neutral pink. It leans just barely cool toned in the bottle and against my skin in certain lighting, but at a glance, it almost reads neutral against my yellow undertones. I suspect if you have cooler undertones, you’ll see it appear a bit bluer overall. MAC Ice Cream Cake is much more magenta and bluer. China Glaze Empowerment is lighter. Chanel Mistral is lighter and more yellow-toned.
I used two coats for opaque color coverage with May, and it was fluid enough to apply evenly and settle across the nail without bubbling or pooling at the sides. It does have a slightly longer drying time, and you really do need to let each coat set before applying the next, or else you will find it drags/pulls enough to be noticeable. It’s a little on the thick side but entirely manageable (I didn’t have to experiment with application technique at all). My experience with Chanel’s formula has been good; I don’t experience chipping (but I also can’t think of a formula that does, so long as I use a base and top coat) and am able to wear their shades for a week with minor tip wear.
Infinitely appropriate for spring--soft, feminine, elegant--and fairly office-friendly, too. I don't have an exact dupe for it in my stash, but if you own lots of pink cremes, you might be able to find something similar in yours.

The formula on this felt really lovely; it was thin without being streaky or watery, but it applied easily to the nail and evened out nicely. It’s a darker shade that’s still lighthearted; it’s like the last few days of winter and the first few days of spring.
For whatever reason, creams always seem like they will be dupable, but so often, they really aren’t. Essie Size Matters is a much deeper, darker shade, that appears redder. Instead, Butter London Blowing Raspberries is the shade I have that is most similar, but it is a bit more berry–it is fairly close, though, and with the price difference, it may be more palatable. Zoya Sarah reminded me of April, too, but it is very shimmery and redder, so it is quite different.

Chanel Rouge Carat Le Vernis ($25.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is an intense, luxuriously ruby-shimmered red with blue undertones. The formula is lovely; the consistency is thin without being watery, so the polish flows evenly across the nail surface but still packs a lot of pigment in each coat. I only needed two coats for opaque color with Rouge Carat. I’ve had good luck with Chanel’s formula myself, as I don’t find it chips or bubbles and generally wears a week with minor tip wear. Though the shade is surely gorgeous, red is such a common polish shade that most brands have half a dozen or more variations on it. You might consider these alternatives: Zoya Lisa, Zoya Carrie Ann, Milani Melt Down, or Duri Bombshell.
The formula was a breeze to work with, and it was opaque in two coats (almost in one!), which made this a nice, fuss-free polish. The hue itself feels like it's been done before, though, so the Chanel price tag might not be justified here.

Chanel Les Jeans de Chanel Collection Swatches, Photos, Reviews
Chanel Les Jeans de Chanel Collection features three new and limited edition shades of lacquer (each retailing for $29.00 and containing 0.4 fl. oz., which is $4 more than the polishes are normally). Blue Boy (deep, rich blue denim), Blue Rebel (dark wash jeans), and Coco Blue (muted blue) make up the collection of blue-hued lacquers.
Blue Boy is a slightly faded, medium-dark blue with a cream finish. I needed three coats for opaque color, though it was more opaque than not at two.The closest dupe I could think of was Essie Lapis of Luxury, which is significantly lighter. Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine H. has a similar faded quality but the multi-colored shimmer makes it look rather different.
Blue Rebel is a dark, navy blue with a cream finish. I used two coats for opaque color coverage, and I felt like the formula was better than it was on Blue Boy and Coco Blue. Rescue Beauty Lounge Dead Calm is deeper, richer. Though still more intense, China Glaze First Mate comes closer.
Coco Blue is a light-medium sky blue with barely-there white micro-shimmer. I used three coats for mostly opaque color, but I found the formula to be prone to streaks. The drying time was longer, too, so the polish pulled in places. Chanel Riva is much, much lighter and has less blue tones. Nubar Blue Hydrangea is more similar than Riva, but it’s more vibrant and more of a robin’s egg blue.
What struck me most about this collection had more to do with a slight case of sticker shock. I understand the luxury/designer brand model, and by no means is Chanel lacquer–dollar for dollar–any better than a polish at a fraction of the cost, but what’s with the $4 increase? I was expecting Chanel to add some marketing jargon about a rare ingredient, mixing technique, etc. that would justify the price increase, because Le Vernis jumped from $23 to $25 from the end 2010 to early 2011 already.
The formula on Blue Rebel was the best; really good flow, pigmentation, and no streakiness. Coco Blue was the worst as it was streaky and needed three coats, while Blue Boy was in the middle–no streakiness and decent flow but needed three coats for opaque color. I normally get a week of wear with minor tip wear out of Chanel’s polishes.
I’m always surprised when seemingly simple colors aren’t ones I can easily find dupes of. I’m sure many of you have already picked these polishes up, so I’d love to hear from you if you’ve found any dupes!
I couldn't think of perfect dupes for these shades, but at the same time, the imperfections in the formula leave me feeling underwhelmed about the three shades overall.
